Windows 8.1 takes some getting use to, its aimed at touch screen, not desk top PC’s, the so called start button added to this version of windows is pointless! It does boot much quicker.

The product came as a simple disc in a plastic slip case, containing the files (such as the ISO) needed to install the OS. These can be downloaded from Microsoft’s own website. The important part is the product key: This was on a piece of adhesive-backed paper inside the slip with the disc, and could be peeled off with the intent to be stuck to the side, back or underneath of one’s computer after use. It also included a printed set of instructions on how to install it.I believe that many people buying this in this day and age will be installing Windows 8 on top of Windows 10, so allow me to go through my experience. First, if the installer gives an error after agreeing to the EULA, paste the files from the disc onto your computer, find the installer in the Sources folder and start the process through that. Second, you will want to do a custom install and install it to the same partition that Windows 10 itself is on (which is likely to be the only partition with enough space to hold the OS anyway). This is necessary as it will not work otherwise, so back up any important files to an external drive beforehand as it will format the drive completely.Finally, don’t panic if your wireless thing only says ‘no connections available’ and only gives options for ethernet. W10 drivers aren’t compatible with W8 ones, so you’ll need to download all missing drivers other an ethernet connection (likely directly into the back of your router). The safest place to do this is Intel’s own site: allow it to scan your computer for missing drivers and install all updates and downloads it offers you (aside from any unrelated programs you don’t want to install). Once done everything will be working smoothly, but I recommend restarting just in case.

When I first started using win 8 I hated it with a passion but I had to stick with it. Once you get the hang of it it is barely any different to use than windows 7, just ignore the Metro interface and learn the quirks of the new Desktop and you will be fine!

I have finally got a basic (very) understanding of the interface. It seems to me that the initial screen is all about show and flash and it contains very little that’s of use to a person who wants a computer. Below that screen is the real access to computing. It looks similar to win 7. Many have mentioned the lack of a proper start menu and I agree with all they say. Maybe the next manifestation of windows will return to that facility. I hope so.Win 8 is definitely faster than 7. Once you get past all the flashy stuff you have a computer that looks very similar to win 7 and performs quite well.I’m pleased I bought it and hopefully once I have a better understanding of it I may be able to power up straight to the win 7 look alike interface.

It is perhaps the friendliest version of Windows yet; you can customize it easily, without much trouble. The user is more in control than in other versions, the structure of commands is optimal, supple, logical and easy to adapt to; it accepts and installs smoothly many older software programs which cannot be installed on the later versions. It is not intrusive like later versions. This version of Windows therefore seems to have reached the top of capabilities, just like Word 2007 seems to have done that in the case of MS Office versions. I would recommend this version of Windows.

Windows 8.1 has such a bad press but I use it at work daily and when working from home as we use some software that can’t cope with Windows 10- seems much more modern than Win 7 and reliable too

Good price for Windows 8.1 pro. A little annoying that it installs windows 8.1 (not pro) first. Then you have to click “Get more features with a new edition of windows” and type the code in. Was so close to returning this product until I found that out.

Il prodotto è una versione completa e funzionante di Windows 8.1 Pro (Retail), esattamente come indicato dall’annuncio.Per chi non lo sapesse, la versione Retail può essere installata su un’altra macchina nel caso cambiaste pc (in teoria non funziona su due macchine contemporaneamente).Il pacchetto arriva sigillato ed al suo interno troverete i due DVD per l’installazione (uno per macchine 32bit ed uno per 64bit) e la relativa chiave di attivazione.L’installazione è stata abbastanza semplice e l’attivazione è avvenuta senza problemi.Ricordatevi solo di selezionare italiano durante la procedura, altrimenti ve lo dovrete tenere in inglese o reinstallare il tutto :)L’unica sbavatura è che il pacchetto è arrivato leggermente schiacciato altrimenti era un 5 stelle garantito.

Bought this after finding out that my PC was slow because it could only use 4 out of its 8 GB RAM due to using 32b Win 7 instead of 64b. The cost was about the same to upgrade to Win8.1 but had reservations due to some of the bad press because of the change to the Start Menu etc, but I am surprisingly impressed. For a start my PC is massively quicker and I’ve managed to find some clips on the web to show how to configure Win 8.1 so you can use it with the traditional desktop. As with most MS products it does have its irritations, some of which I’ve managed to resolve via ‘Googling’ for help, some are still annoying, but overall I still give it 5 stars. One thing I would say, when upgrading to Win8.1 it saves a copy of your Windows folder which should include all of your files so you shouldn’t have to spend a weekend backing everything up to external HD’s like I did.

My Son had the version above and he had no problems. So the review there is for this product, I downloaded the update for windows 8 which did not work correctly, so I waited for my Son to say his version is working ok I then purchased the 8.1 pro and it seems to be working a ok.

Copia di Windows 8.1 pro in scatola originale contente 2 DVD, uno per la versione x86 e uno per quella x64 e product Key.Abbiamo installato senza problemi il language pack per l’italiano (anche se devo dire che non tutto è stato tradotto).Velocità eccellente: come oramai tutti sanno il sistema operativo è molto più performante di Windows XP, anche su sistemi datati, fermo restando che il computer abbia almeno 3,2 Gb di memoria RAM o più. Personalmente preferisco questa versione del sistema operativo di casa Microsoft rispetto a Windows 10. Buon acquisto!

Had some difficulty with my peripherals. At first it did not recognize my scanner and did not install all the capabilities of my duplex printer, and had some trouble until I solved these shortages through the internet. I would have expected that that such a sophisticated operating system would have automatically solved these shortages. Otherwise I am well pleased with the program
