If you’re getting this for a laptop, it will be perfect for you. But for me using a desktop it’s a little lacking. First the usb cable is too short. Needs to be maybe six inches longer at least. Second to me the plastic case is kind of flimsy. It’s a nice idea but the plastic will be easily broken if dropped on a hard floor or stepped on. It works just fine and looks cool in the dark. When connected there is a nice bluish light that shines. When active there is also a blinking red light that lets you know it’s reading the drive. Overall it’s nice and cool looking but I think I’d rather have a metal casing on the outside and forget the pretty lights. I backed up my drive on this using a one terabyte ssd so it works as advertised. I put it away so it wouldn’t get broken. I think it’s nice just a little too fragile.

Bang for the Buck!
It’s unbelievable how technology has advanced so good that I can re use my old laptops HDD in my new laptop as an external Hard disk drive and thanks to Orico’s Enclosure for making it happen. This one is a real steel and the price is steal deal. I got a USB3.0 and It works like charm. Go for it if you don’t want to loose all the files from your old PC.

It is based on USB -C based need not worry of carrying special cable.It is okay for a storage device similarly to USB flash drive. But one wants protection against accidental deletion or viruses or ransomware, one may opt for SSD enclosure with physical write protection switch like spcific enclosures from Vantec NST-204C3-SV (2.5 inch it also does have red for read only / white for write indication showing current position write protection switch) or Vantec NST-204C3-SV ( but M.2 size & SATA with red / white LED) both are of solid construction , all brushed aluminium body or Icebox 2.5 inch SATA, etcI have purchased Vantec NST-204C3-SV and WD Blue m.2 Sata SSD. It is working flawless and giving confidence against data loss.

Installed a 480gb ssd to connect to xbox, works as expected.It has usb 3.0, and has sata 3 interface.Has 10 minutes auto sleep to protect the drive.800, 1000 or2000 rs for just an hdd enclosure is not cheap nothing fancy in a harddisk enclosure to justify such prices.Works as expected. Purchase recomended.🙂

First time buying a product from Orico. Bought two of these enclosures has I have several old laptop hard drives I wanted to add a little protection to, and figured two was a decent number to start with before buying for all the drives.Let me start off by saying that the enclosures came in very nice packaging, and the physical quality of the enclosures is very nice! Seeing the hard drives through the clear plastic is very nerdish to me and I love it. When they’re plugged in and working, the little blue glow they give off is just that extra bit of awesome without being overdone.That said, while the first enclosure came together with no issue (drive went in smooth and the unit plugged into the USB hub and powered on ), the second one had a little issue plugging in. Initially, when the USB was plugged into the enclosure all the way, the enclosure would NOT get power. I had to wiggle the USB plug on the enclosure side just slightly OUT of the unit for it to properly get power… however, after having left the unit on (slightly wiggled out plug and all) I came to take a video of the problem and… it seems to have gone away. I can plug the unit’s USB cord in all the way and it gets power no problem.If both units worked without issue (especially for what should be dead simple products), I would have given this product 5 stars. Seeing as one gave me a problem (at least, initially) I have to bump a star off. I may not have done so had I bought from this company or this product in the past, but seeing as these are the first two Orico products I’ve purchased, and, as such, 50% of them were giving me (at least initial) issues, I can’t give this product flying colors, and, to be honest, I may have to seriously ponder another purchase from the company.

Good Product. Good performance after three years of use.
I am posting my review after using it for three years. First of all, before buying I had a doubt about whether to buy SATA or NVME. EVO or PRO Series.I later decided to buy the 860EVO SATA. The random read and random write performance is impressive while using VMWARE with 2 virtual machines running.

Excellent Product
The product is excellent. Money well spent. Especially the USB c cable….really fast transfer speeds. The only issue i have …and probably the difficulty in installing…the installation is a bit tricky (acute bend)…after you install it doesn’t look like you can disconnect and reconnect another drive….my 2TB SSD looks like is permanently fixed in the case. But otherwise great product.

It is a good product but speed is a concern
I bought this case for HDD and it is working fine but one thing is noticed that the speed is little bit alow as compared to my previous PiBox SATA cable. In PiBox SATA cable I get speed around 100-110 MBps but using this Orica case, I am getting around 70-80 MBps. I thought it was more capable but little unsatisfied in copy speed segment.

Expectations fulfilled. Massive (average) speed 3.5 gb/s with type C to type C Thunderbolt Port on my Inspiron 5509 .It was easy to install , just pushed firmly and it got set into its slot . Quality of the product is not so sturdy but will do . Scratches can be observed on further usage . Both cables were provided USB to type C & type C to type C . The board has an SCSI interface for fast Transfer speed. Just Plug and Play then see the magic . This is my 6th Orico product. Satisfied since last 2 years .
