This is so much better thank Windows 8.1. This is the Windows XP of like ability.
William Prendergast –
I use Windows in a Parallels virtual machine on my Mac, and only to run a few windows exclusive programs that I couldn’t live without after making the big PC to Mac switch. Mainly I use Windows to run Quicken (for which there’s no GOOD Mac alternative anymore) and a few other things. I ran Windows XP-Pro in this role for some years and it was working just fine for my purposes. But, like most other users of good, old XP, I was feeling progressively cornered and forced to upgrade out of XP which Microsoft has just finally stopped supporting with security upgrades, etc. Rather than suffer the adjustment shock, learning curve, etc. of going to Windows8, I decided to upgrade to Windows7 and, though it’s a “hands on” upgrade and took some work, I am very satisfied. Windows7 is a great program, a logical upgrade and progression from XP and very satisfactory. One nice benefit is that it is a whole lot more stable, and I see far fewer crashes and blue screens! Most folks found that out some years ago, but if you’re like me and you’re being forced out of XP, this is a very satisfactory way to go. And will be supported for some years to come yet, I understand. Also, when the time comes, the upgrade to 8 is supposed to be a lot easier!

I wasted money as it would not upload on my home PC as it said my PC already had a version of Windows albeit an old Vista version. Make sure you understand what you are buying. I’ve learnt my lesson and will leave it to the experts from now on.
BlueWolf51 –
Worked just perfectly
ingrid –
well done
Tyrus B. Foster –
I replaced Windows XP with Windows 7. This version can be used as an upgrade or a complete install. It was easy to use.
Jennifer Rodriguez –
Kinda upset that windows charged about 100 for this OS I mean your still going to get viruses if your not carful and they came out with windows 8 they should of deducted this price by now I could of often Ubuntu for 0$ and I will j have a dual boot but hopefully windows keep kicking
David S –
I did a clean install of Windows 7 All Version Bootable DVD 64bit + 32bit on a six year old HP notebook PC that had been running Windows Vista. Once I downloaded all of the drivers from the HP website, it has run beautifully with no glitches. Its interface is very familiar and required no new learning. All of the Windows-based application software previously running on Windows Vista is fully compatible.
Trevor –
To put it nicely, I highly dislike windows 8. Built a pc, threw this windows 7 disc in, and installed everything without any problems. Very happy this worked so easily.
David –
Just as expected.
BRUCE D GOULD –
Successfully installed.

I bought it when Windows was offering a free upgrade to Windows 10. I am coming from HP Desktop Vista. I first ran the Windows 7 Advisor on my Vista which told me what I needed to make it eligble ( its simple and only required one softwared updated). After reading through the comments, I did a clean install on my PC to avoid any issues. As many have said there, if you are upgrading, you might just do it the right way (not the easy way Windows recommends). Just reset the Vista, popped the Pendrive in, it reinstalled on my computer. After install, I opened up the Windows 10 installer. After 1 and a half (yes, it would take that long, as the Microsoft IT manager said, it is still working so don’t cancel), I am happy to say I have Windows 10 and am future proof :).Just a side note, Windows 10 has a lot of settings that some people might not like dealing privacy and marketing. You can opt out of these. Or just download Spybot – Search and Destroy and it will do the work for you. I am very happy with Windows 10 so far. Quicker and easier to use.

Arrived as promised in perfect condition.

Installed on my iMac using Parallels Desktop….awesome!
SX –
I am using this with my MacBook Pro running Mavericks and using Parallels v8. The installation from within parallels was a no brainer. Works really great. The good part is that the Windows can access mac files seemlessly. You can also set up keyboard shortcuts and mapping of Mac keys for Windows from within Parallels. One thing though – it would be good idea to have at least 8 GB of memory with Mac. I actuall upgraded Mac to 16 GB.

I suppose that technically I didn’t use this software correctly, but I don’t care. My Vista laptop was acting up and I had lost the restore disk. It passed the Win 7 test so I used this disk to do a clean install. Everything went smoothly. I puckered unnecessarily. My laptop is working fine now.

ATTN: XP Holdouts: Windows 8 is experimental. Windows 7 is complete. Your call.Pair this with an SSD to increase performance.I’ve even bought computers packed with Win8 and formatted them to put on 7.

I had to return this item because it is for installation on hard disks formatted in the Master Boot Record partition style. It would not install on my 2.2-TB hard disk because it is formatted in GPT partition style, which seems to be the style for hard disks over 2 TB in size.

Many of my customers despise the new look and feel of Windows 8 and want to avoid it at all costs. For those who prefer Windows 7 over 8, this is a great way to keep the OS you love. It comes with an installation DVD and the license key is designed to be peeled off and placed directly onto the computer.Paul Buckner, author ofFrom Broke To Broker: Stories of Finding Financial FreedomAndNever Give Up: Book Two of the Finding Financial Freedom Series

Worked just fine. This was my first install of an OS on a bare Hard drive, and it wasn’t a problem at all. It would be nice if Microsoft included at least a brief install instruction booklet/page of what to expect, but that’s what the internet is for nowadays I guess, saving companies money by not printing instructions. Some reviews say the Product Key is hard to read, but their vision must be bad because it wasn’t that small
CELIA H TRACY –

ron –
Windows 7 was easy to install and I can’t STAND windows 8. So the product windows 7 was packaged, easily installed and works great.
Darren Williams –
NOTE: Don’t listen to all the reviews saying that this is a pirated software. It is a genuine windows OS! You have to activate this over the phone and not the internet. I can’t say why that is the case but It only took a 10 minute automated phone call and it was up and running flawlessly. I installed this on a new build that I put together myself. Installed the first time with no problems at all.

Our laptop was down for the count and we had tried everything. Someone suggested to add the Windows 7 Home to it and try that and it worked like a charm! It was also fairly easy and quick to install. I expected my other half to struggle and us have to ditch the beloved laptop but this worked wonders! We are very well pleased!
J. Johnson –
I like the OS. I do not care for 8 or 8.1. I wanted to store a few copies of this OS so as to have if WIN9 (whatever Microsoft may call it) is as problematic as was the WIN8 series.I’m comfortable with Win7, and it works exactly as I want it to.I’m capable of my own “support” so OEM works great for me. Legit licenses and full versions (have checked the three I purchased).Exactly what I wanted and expected at a reasonable price. Recommended.

there is a reason why noone has moved to the new windows 8…it is because windows 7 has everything anyone could ever want and most people are very familiar with it. took a while to download all the updates but what can you do.

As I have just set up my very own PC Building service, I thought I would try this for a PC I was building for a customer. It worked absolutely perfectly first time! Everything needed is included on the package including the genuine windows code.Set up was extremely fast with no problems what-so-ever. Windows 7 is generally the easiest operating to use at this current time which is why I will keep buying this product every time a new build comes along. You won’t be disappointed with this!

J. Mackenzie –
Windows 7, I tend to stick with this as I am a little technophobic of windows 8…
Jill Lohnes –
I brought this for my dad as a Christmas present. Buying an OEM version means that it will not include any drivers specific to your system – if you don’t know how to load your own drivers or don’t want to bother, you should buy the upgrade directly from your system manufacturer (ie Acer, Gateway, Dell, etc.).I wanted to install the x64 version to allow 64 bit versions of software run – and to allow better memory access above 4 gigabytes. The install went very smooth – and my Dad was up and running in about 30 minutes. I went through a breif tutorial of the new features in Windows 7, as well as a tutorial of how Live MovieMaker and Photo Gallery work as well as how some of the new features work – like jump lists and the various libraries. He’s not very technical, but he caught on fast and likes Windows 7!

Very disappointed I bought the software as new and paid the extra money, however when I asked my computer man to load the new software it was obvious to him and to me when I was shown that it had already been used. On the label inside the packaging there were clear signs that the label had been peeled away from it’s backing paper also the word Dell was printed on the label. The licence had been re-activated and the product sold on as new.Perhaps I am old fashioned but new to me means unused, fortunately we managed to download the software.Be very wary when buying this software, ask if the software is straight from windows and is unused

Best version of Windows for Cubase, Pro Tools, Wavelab, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects (all of the “Master Suite” programs, really), Lightroom, On1 Photo Suite, the list goes on. Windows 10 is just spyware disguised as an operating system. Insidious.
Patrick N. Keller –
I was quite pleased with the Windows 7 interface and features, and would have stayed with it, except, my laptop has Windows 10, and I wanted them both to be the same. The update from Windows 7 to 10 went well. However, windows 10 is fairly different, and it’s too early to tell if I like it any better. There are a lot of privacy issues in Windows 10, that I turned off, and some I’m still trying to get around.
James M. –

I bought this Windows 7 installation DVD to load the OS on a new Intel NUC. The DVD packaging did not include a disc sleeve, but the media was in great shape. The product installation code was VERY VERY small and hard to read, but it was on a sticker that could be placed on the system, so I give the size a pass. Very pleased that this OS is still available.
DOUGLAS HUGHEN –
Put disk in c/d drive, restart laptop, or computer, it then takes about 25 minutes to complete, enter the code that is on thepacket to register and job done, then update windows as soon as you are online, then install antivirus and all your programs. GET IT WHILE YOU CAN.

I have both Windows 8 and 7.The problem with 8 is that it is not at all productive, and it does not take advantage of the increased screen space. Two very different products I will order 7 for as long as I can. Maybe 9 will be better for business use. 8 decreases productivity and decreases options. Before they were called Apps they were called programs and it’s not just for listen to music or watching TV.MS advanced with windows as it copied the MAC, here they are just trying to appeal to the most current market. No thought went into extra key strokes the lack of being able to open screens side by side so you can move data etc. Basically the ergonomics with increased motion etc. are a disadvantage and I fail to see any advantage in 8. So stick with 7 for as long as you can. Since they are a monopoly….
Jack Nelson –
I’m a Mac guy, but some apps still need Windows. This OEM version works perfectly on my Mac Pro (with rEFInd boot manager). This OEM version comes with NO trash ware.Only the OS.If you are building a Windows machine and don’t like 8, this is the version for you

I bought this after a week of calling HP to get my Windows 7 product key released because HP was blocking it, not Microsoft as they so wanted me to believe. Hp wanted me to buy their super special technical support package for “valued” customers such as myself that came to a whopping total of $265.39 for a year of “support”. I declined (hung up on HP technical support) and bought this product instead. I did a complete wipe of my system and got the HP crap off my system that ate away at my memory and loaded this in. I had no issues with the setup wizard or entering in my product key. Just an FYI, the product key that is included on the package is super tiny. I had to break out my husband’s magnifying glass just to be able to see it. I will be keeping this safe and in the future will not be buying HP systems due to the fact they will block product keys and extort more money out of consumers that don’t know any better.
Petey G –
Easy install and I like how if there is anything left on your drive from an older version, it will back it up in a “windows.old” file. If you dont have anything on your drive you are installing this on, just format it, boot from the disc and in no time, your ready to rock and roll. Put your disc in a safe place that you will remember where its at too in case you ever have to reload it again and always back all of your important stuff up in a few different places.-Peace

There is only one issue that this Pendrive sometimes doesn’t boot easily. Otherwise it is excellent. Cheers.

This is a decent price for a 64 bit version of Windows 7 installed on a recent build for a friend. Hard to say much else really, Windows 7 is still supported by Microsoft and many users prefer it to Windows 8 for desktops as the UI is much more familiar (and friendly).

My parents spent 15 years learning to use the classic windows OS-a desktop, a start menu, an intuitive GUI…Then some Rooster-Nibbler decided to come out with the POS called Windows 8. After they struggled to use that abomination for a little over a year and a half, I threw in the towel and bought this (blessedly intuitive) OS and had it installed. Now, we’re back to “happy”.

I fully suspect that, during the 2 or so years that windows 7 has been out, Microsoft has broken even on the development costs of this software and have made considerable profits.Consequently, I deduce that the price of this product it perfect example of Microsoft squeezing the life from its customers. A lack of alternatives (Windows 8 having a poor reputation for user satisfaction) and the necessity of an OS makes this product’s PED rather inelastic – and Microsoft clearly intend to take advantage of that fact. Considering production of this product would cost almost nothing, I would consider £20 to be a fair price.OVER PRICED!
N. Thomas –
As the title say Windows 7 is OK, I’ve used it for a number of years. Now on 8.1, which apart from a few niggles works well, it boots in 10 seconds on my main PC.Following the withdrawal of XP support I installed 7/SP1 onto my Uncle’s PC. The back-up of all his data went well, as did the new install. Then followed 3 days of up-dates, I have Infinity 2 which provides a reliable 75Mbs download speed, so that’s not the problem and the speed of the PC is sufficient to enable reasonable install times. It must therefore be simply the vast number of files and the enormous amount of data they contain which results in days of watching the files download and install. At £87 for the OEM version it’s hardly cheap, I could have paid the same amount for a full version of Windows 8.1, but I considered this might have been a step to far for an ageing gentlemen. If we are to charged an excessive amount for a piece of superseded software, I don’t consider it right that only a proportion of the program is actually supplied and the rest has to be downloaded, a few updates would be OK, but 3 days worth is taking the proverbial.

This was used to install Windows 7 on my old XP system. With all the negativity surrounding Windows 8 I thought I’d go with something I know. Windows 7 is a great operating system and is a real upgrade to XP. This disc will not ‘upgrade’ from XP and keep all your programs, but as long as you are doing a clean install (booting from the Disc at start up) you’ll have no problems installing Windows 7 on most PCs, even quite old ones.

We had updated my daughters laptop to Win 8 and her sound would no longer work. HP does not make a driver for the sound card in her laptop, and did not plan to release one.Since we no longer had any disc for her laptop, we installed this and were off. It went great. Pavilion Dv4 and it is like a new one.The laptop was originally vista and I did not want to go back. Everything now works and the laptop is fast once again with this fresh install.

I’ve been using Vista 64 since it came out. While it had some problems, none where as bad as those we had with XP on release.Since then, Vista has become more stable and faster at start-up and shut-down. In fact, in the last 3 years, I’ve only had 2 crashes. Both caused by software, rather than OS, problems.Win 7, contrary to most opinion, isn’t faster at starting up than Vista. It just gets to the desktop quicker. I need a network monitor running before I can start working, and that takes almost the same time to start as vista (both from cold start.)Unfortunately, there are now several pieces of software that I have that “need” Win 7. So I had to update. With the exception of the graphics card driver (I generally beta test graphics drivers) this was fairly painless. No new install, just a straight upgrade option. Install the latest graphics driver (the beta had problems) and everything was fine. Except the network drivers, which were fine up until the reboot. I had to use my wife’s pc to download the drivers from the website, installed them on mine and they were soon up and running too. I have to admit that I had exactly the same problem with Vista.Any way, in the short time I’ve been running the system, I’ve had no blue screens, a couple of random crashes but I was expecting something like this. Bug fixing is always something to expect. There is one nice thing: I’m getting higher frame rates on some games, and higher through put on my network.Should you upgrade? If all your current software works on Vista, then I’d stick with it. If, like me, you need to use software that’s only available for Win 7 and 8, then get this. Anything is better than the glorified phone OS that’s Win 8.

We have until 2020 until extended support (updates) end for this OS! You don’t have to purchase certain apps with this OS to have, for example, disk reading capability for DVDs and Blu-Rays! If you have a traditional desktop PC and don’t want to deal with the appcentric Windows 8, then this is your best bet.

This installed so fast compared to 20 years ago. My system booted up from the included disk. Many devices ran with windows drivers. I still downloaded the official drivers afterwards. Even my wireless mouse worked during the basic install! Only minor complaint = the windows code is SO SMALL even for my bifocals to read (I am far sighted). I like windows 7 64-bit. The package was really small.
Ruthann –
This software is only for wiping out and reselling your machine. After it is loaded it needed drivers to open and to get the internet to work. Well needless to say you cant down load drivers if you don’t have the internet working. So I took it to the Geek Squad and for $30 they ran if for a half hour and got all the drivers I would need to use my lap top again.Next time I think I will take it to Geek Squad and let them do the whole thing. I think I would have saved money in the long run.

Purchased this product because I built my own pc, and realised that I couldn’t use it without an operating system.Windows 7 is hands down the best operating system and it will always be like this. The product key worked like a charm.I later upgraded to windows 10 with the free upgrade, I personally don’t regret it but if I was someone else, I would recommend just sticking with windows 7 since it’s the cheapest and best, since windows 10 is no longer free to download.

My favorite 64 bit windows system without question. I will no doubt continue buying windows 7 for years to come, even if it ends up costing me more than going with windows 8.1 or 10. It is user friendly, can me tweaked to work just as efficiently (if not more) than the newer OSs, and doesn’t have as much of Microsoft’s friendly little “we can do whatever we want, whenever we want” in the terms and agreements.

Upgraded from XP. Have been using Win 7 at work for two years, and love it. The install was first one i’ve done and was vastly easier than expected. Just make sure to save all your drivers in a very easily accessed folder (which i had) – then it’s pretty simple operation, setting your boot priority drives & the Windows wizard does pretty much everything. What takes so long is the 200+ updates & countless restarts once the new system is loaded. Which is why it’s important to save your drivers and remember where they are – once those are loaded (tell Win7 Wizard where they are) you can connect online to update everything. The key code is very small – i followed the advice of another reviewer, took a picture with my Blackberry & zoomed in – it was surprisingly crystal clear and i had no issue entering the first round.

I have a Dell Latitude D610, which was built in 2005. Windows XP was going out of support so I knew I had to do something, so, I upgraded it to Windows 7. Installation was fast, and easy, however trying to activate it was a pain. The letters and numbers were so small that I could barely read them. I was actually surprised at how fast it is, and that it runs the Windows Aero User Interface quite well for it’s age. Just let the operating system install updates, that will give you your sound, video, and other drivers back that XP had. Overall, I would DEFINITELY recommend this to a friend!

I love Windows 7 (far better than any of the previous or new versions of windows), so buying windows 7 itself wasn’t the issue. What I was worried about was upgrading from a Vista 32bit and having my computer wiped. This is in fact a simple rumor that I would like to smite as of now. Yes, you will get a “clean” computer, but all windows files from your previous windows will be stored in your hard drive under a file called Windows.old. You will have to download all programs for a second time, but you can take all your documents, pictures, game data, etc. and put them back in their respectful place in your new system. Great way to work things windows. And the dealer was right on time. I received my item within 4 days (4-7 was the given estimate) when another item had taken 8 when the given estimate was 3-6. Highly satisfied with my new version of windows and the great reliability of the dealer.

This remains the best MS OS I have ever used. I have installed them all beginning with 95 and even beta tested MS 8. However, I always come back to Windows 7 because I can control most of the “glut” elements by disabling them. My last installation was on the Apple laptop I am typing this review using Parallels 9.
C. Weaver –
I got this for a good friend and although I’ve had a system running it for a couple of years now, it still surprises me how well the OS manages to install the correct drivers and other items most of the time on an install. The system I was putting this on had had the HD removed as it was full of items that some one wanted to keep and didn’t have time to copy them. I installed a new HD and, after checking out the BIOS to make sure it was seen correctly, I saved the set up and rebooted to the DVD drive and Win 7 setup began without a problem. It was a smooth installation without a single hiccup all. After it finished Win 7 came up and was very solid with no problems I could see and was very stable. I noted that Win update got all the needed drivers and installed them without any problems. It even installed updates for the card slots and allocated drive letters for USB devices. (Such as drives, etc.) I checked these and they worked great for USB flash drives. I was very happy with the total install. The only problem I ran into was with the printer drivers as I needed to use HP drivers due to the printer being an “all in one” and needed some OCR software. Win 7 and HP clashed a bit when I plugged in the printer’s USB plug but I managed to stoop windows long enough for the HP software to complete installation. Overall, a very pleasant and speedily installation.

Not much you can say, it does what it claims to do: install Windows 7 Home Primium SP1 64bit on your computer.I bought a computer for travel recently and it came with Windows 8.1. I didn’t like Windows 8 and I was having a lot of trouble with the computer. The tech I use told me that I had to two choices: reinstall Windows 8.1 or buy Windows 7, which he recommended as being better than Windows 8. Having used Windows 7 for several years on my “main”computer, and having had a good experience with it, I bit the bullet and bought Windows 7. I recently got a new ( to me ) pc. It came with Windows 8 which I did not like. I upgraded to Windows 8.1, and still did not like it. I also tried to make Windows 8.1 look like Windows 7. And I still did not like it. So, I installed this. It installed just fine, but didnot recognize all of my hardware. IE: Network adapter and video card. So, it was a very basic install. If you don’t have or don’t know what device drivers you need then do what I did. Install a generic network adapter and/or the easier route if you have WiFi, just plug in a usb WiFi adapter. That will get you online and Windows update will hopefully find the drivers for you. Also, the COA worked just fine. I’m now a happy camper with my new ( to me ) pc & Windows 7.

Windows 7 offers too many improvements over its predecessor to list–certainly more than I would likely ever understand the relevance of. The greatest thing to me about WIndows 7 is that it is cheaper than Windows 8, offers slightly BETTER performance in the arena of gaming, and most of all, Windows 7 users are eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10 later this year. If you play video games than this is the greatest news in quite some time. With DirectX 12 capabilities exclusive to Windows 10, gamers can expect an increase of 2-4 fold in gaming efficiency. That means a DX 12 game will look 2-4 times better on hardware that you already have. The fact that an OS will improve graphics in gaming 2-4 times better than an expensive new graphics card will is very exciting.Beyond the obvious edge of DX 12 that Windows 7, and soon, Windows 10, Windows is the superior OS because it has been around longer than Apple’s. As far as games are concerned, gaming on an Apple OS is sort of a joke in terms of compatibility. Windows, in my household, is the standard of computer OS’s. It skips the cuteness of Apple’s OS and offers simple, accessible, user friendly operation. The Windows 10 upgrade is a huge gift from Windows. Right now you can save at least $30 by choosing Windows 7 over Windows 8, and it is essentially two OSes in one, a deal that we may never see the likes of ever again. If you enjoy video games than choose Windows 7/Windows 10 and don’t look back.

Had difficulty at seven attempts as laptop declared it incompatible but, on seeking further advice if this happens, as computer opens you have to keep booting F12 which gives you a sub menu to continue now, really pleased I persevered . Well worth the effort.

This was a good product to replace the Windows XP that was on my machine before. Does require a clean install but was easy to do.

No complaints about the seller, this does exactly what it says on the label – installs a functioning 64bit Windows 7 HP. Interestingly, the disc was identical to that supplied with another computer I had, so my £39 was essentially for the key. The fun started with the need to activate by phone – tedious but ok. If this was the only problem it would have been almost worth 5 stars. However the Windows Update just didn’t work, hanging and then hogging the processor after it was stopped. Annoying, since update failure with Vista was the main reason for me buying it in the first place! A look online suggests this problem has become extremely common, at least for OEM (re-)installation, since active support for Win 7 ended and Windows 10 was released. Many previously posted “help” links to Microsoft are now redirected to the “buy Windows 10” page. Read into this what you will. I have finally reset Updates successfully, and for my wife’s laptop too, which suffered a similar failure by using this- […] if it’s any help.

This is undoubtedly the best Windows version Microsoft made for non-tablet computers.I wish that they realized their mistake with Windows 8 and went back to improving Windows 7 rather than creating even worse (than Windows 8) version of Windows.

It’s windows 7, nuff said. You’ll be comfortable in this OS is you’re coming from xp or vista, and I suggest it as an upgrade to both, and instead of windows 8. As an added bonus, you’ll get a few upgrade to windows 10 on release.

Chances are your building a PC or changing the OS on your PC or mac. All I have to say is, good choice. This is the best OS microsoft has ever made and even if your not a gamer then i suggest this over windows 8 or 8.1 but if you are gaming, dont. get. 8.1

I had to purchase an install disc for Windows 7 because MS does not support it any more and the local stores do not carry any more either. I was told that Windows 8 would run very slow on my machine even though it is less that 2 years old. I am very happy with this Windows 7 install.
Bill –
Choose carefully when buying Windows 7. This was a registered product and it was easy to load, for a few pounds less I could have bought an OEM piece of software but if you read the feedback for these suppliers you should beware.

My PC’s hard drive crashed and my Vista operating system disc was defective so I took the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7. Glad I did, I really liked it. The Vista was good for me and the way I used my PC but “7” was better. It turned out that I had to get a new PC which had Windows 8 which I like to. I did like my brief look into Windows 7 and urge someone who has an old OS. Upgrade! You’ll be glad you did.

Of those complaining that the font of the serial is too small: yes, it is fairly tiny, but not so much that I couldn’t make it out. To make it easier on myself, I just took a macro pic on my phone and then zoomed in. Easy.
Common Sense –
This installs a full version of Windows 7 (64 bit) onto your computer that will be validated and authenticated (comes with serial key).I built a new PC (all new parts) and loaded this onto a brand new hard drive. I ran into driver issues (NOT related to this product) and had to format and re-install Windows 7 using the same disc. I ran into no problems re-installing with the same disc (on the same PC).Would recommend!
Fuzzy Lumps –
It got here, I downloaded, made the phone call to MS’s automated system to update the activation key- now have a 64bit windows 10OS, yay me. If some of you prefer using a flash drive to download an OS then maybe hit up kinguin for the 20 and 30 £ keys, i just prefer having a hardcopy and disk myself.

It comes on a disc, with a key, you put the disc in the Pendrive tray and let it do its thing. It’s Windows 7… you’ve probably used it at this point. Better than Vista and XP, not as polarizing as 8, leaving it as the OS everybody seems to use. Why are you reading this??

After fighting with Windows 8.1 for 6 mo. I have given Window 7 the highest rating out of the relief it gave me even though it has problems of it’s own.. Windows 8.1 is the most non-productive aberation ever foisted on the computer market. The so called standard Windows layout is a joke and does not work as well as Windows 7. Not everyone can afford to upgrade all their software so it works on Windows 8.1 especially on graphics and CAD programs that cost $1900 to $18,000 to upgrade.

I really wish that Microsoft never bothered with the disaster known as Windows 8! What an awful OS! Windows 7 is one of the most stable systems I use. I’ve built over a dozen computers with this OS and have had excellent success. I hope they never stop supporting it! I’ve installed the 64 bit version on all of my builds and have not had any complaints! I’m not going to upgrade any of my personal machines, (3), to Windows 10 until they figure out the bugs.

Got this at a great price and a 64 bit package too. No problem loading and is genuine Microsoft. Note, if you are upgrading from Vista be sure you get 32 bit win 7 if you have 32 bit Vista or you will have to do a total WIN7 install and reinstall your software. I was okay with that as I prefer the power of the 64 bit, so I am pleased with the product.
Baxman500 –
I hate Win 8 so this was a no brainer. I like & because I am used to it, and it’s a great OS. The 2 are priced closely, but after playing with 8 and reading reviews I decided to go with old faithful 7. It was easy to install, and use. I put it on My SSD so booting up is very fast. I don’t know what else to say except stay away from 8 go with 7, and wait for 9.

Performed a clean install using this software on a 9-year old Dell Inspiron 530s desktop and it worked perfectly. Note one needs to back up all files one wants to keep because a clean install will reformat the hard drive. XP was working ok, but with all the notes on XP support going away, I thought I’d try an upgrade. I decided to try Windows 8 since it is newer and that was a disaster. It is so bad that Microsoft gives you 8.1 for free. However, 8.1 was only better from the standpoint of being able to easily shut down the computer which I never could figure out with 8. And the monitor resolution had problems and there are no driver upgrades for my Dell monitor in 8/8.1 (nor would a new monitor work according to Dell). The various tips to use in Windows 8/8.1 to improve monitor resolution would not work. ( I wasted my money with Windows 8.) Windows 7 even updated the monitor driver automatically. The computer is now working faster than with XP and the monitor resolution is correct. I will be more careful in deciding what Microsoft product to upgrade with in the future. Reminds me of the Vista and Millenium days which I fortunately avoided by skipping those upgrades.

This was a clean install (to replace Windows XP). Maybe that’s what made it so simple. Just plug it in and follow instructions. I found this tutorial on the web, and it made me feel more comfortable, but you don’t really need it: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/windows-7-clean-install-part-1.htmIt does take a long time, with many restarts. Then it will install updates, and restart, several times over the next few days.

I had Windows XP, but as it’s no longer supported by Microsoft and my laptop would not be strong enough for Windows 8, I decided to get Windows 7. The price was very reasonable, it is working fine, it’s very easy. I have Windows 8 on other computer, but I can’t see it being any better than Windows 7.

I have a good amount of experience with computers as I built my first one almost 30 years ago, so had little problem figuring out how to install this over the Vista that was on my laptop. I really do not like Vista. When you install a newer version of Windows over a previous version, you are given the option of keeping your programs and data. I never do this. Instead I choose to completely overwrite all programs and do not attempt to keep anything. My personal choice is to back up whatever I want to keep on a flash drive, and reinstall any programs I want after installing the new operating system. And then transfer that data I saved on the flash drive. If you have never installed a operating system you might have some problem figuring out how to do it, as there are no instructions. That is what it means when it says system builder OEM DVD. They assume you know what you are doing. If you know how to change the boot sequence in your bios so that the computer will boot to your DVD drive, you can do this. If you don’t understand what I just said, you will need help. Or buy the retail version instead of the OEM.

This is a full version of Windows 7 All Version Bootable DVD 64bit + 32bit and worked perfectly for running Boot Camp on my Mac. If you are looking to add the windows environment on your Mac using Boot Camp, I can tell you this version of Windows worked well for me. You will need to add a separate wireless antenna (like a usb stick) because the Windows drivers only recognize a few of the hardware items in the Mac. Didn’t recognize the internal wireless adapter, nor the internal speakers. It does recognize the CAT5 slot for a wired connection and all of the usb slots. It did not recognize the thunderbolt slot.

Windows 7 is the best version bi far of these which have escaped from Microsoft. It beats version 8 even when improved by version 8.1 and also the much vaunted version 10. Note Microsoft are giving the latter away for nothing in the hope that clients will give the Microsoft experts all the help they need to make this crummy version a life.. I should stick with the almost bug free version 7 or version 10.1 or 11 when it comes

Bought this for my parents 2007 dell vostro 200. It has a core 2 duo processor around 2ghz, 3gb ram, and a new WD black 1TB sata 2 HD. Performance is OK. I havent played around with it much but it seems to run office and ie11 fine. Boot times are much improved. The computer was running pretty slowly on xp. I wanted to buy a refurbished PC w/faster hardware and win 7, but I couldn’t justify the extra cost. For what my parents need, the 7 year old PC running this supported os is fine.

Great product at a good price and excellent service. I did a clean install of W7 onto my desktop HP previously running Vista. Based on many comments it seemed better to do the clean install to get rid of old gremlins and unwanted add-ons. The software worked well and I have a smoother system as a result. W7 is very easy to adapt to. I had an initial problem with activating the OS using the product key supplied, but received very prompt responses from the seller. Tip: using the smart phone activation with Microsoft is very straightforward, but the correct answer to the question “how many computers have you installed the software on?” is “0”. I said “1” because I had just installed it – and the activation was rejected because this a single licence OS and my first answer suggested I had already installed and activated on another computer! Very happy with my purchase.

I needed Windows for some work software and this was the cheapest way I could find to get it. Not a big Windows fan, but I assume anybody buying this knows what they’re doing and wants to know if this is a good way to buy Windows. The answer – yes, it all works fine with no activation problems. Now runs happily on my Mac laptop via Bootcamp, although be aware you do need to make an ISO of the disc with Disc Utility to install it with Bootcamp. After a disappointing week with Windows 8 on a Microsoft Surface Pro 2, I decided to return the Surface and just use Windows 7 on the Mac to get the job done and haven’t been disappointed. There are a ridiculous amount of updates to install – think 15 restarts – in the first few hours, but once you’ve done that it works smoothly and is a lot simpler to use than the mess that is Windows 8. For Mac users, you need AT LEAST 60GB on your Windows partition, so ignore Microsoft’s claim that it only takes 20GB of disc space. It did before all the service packs, updates and with every optional component left out. If you don’t allow 60GB, you’ll find Bootcamp doesn’t have space to install the drivers properly, and you’ll waste a lot of time reinstalling. Once you do this, the Mac drivers all work perfectly and you can adjust the DPI scaling to 200% to give clear, large fonts/icons/buttons on the high resolution of a Retina Macbook Pro.

Seems W7 has all it needed. The wireless utility is not the same as Sony provided, but works . . . well, actually better. What more can one say.

UPDATE 2022: WIN7 was good and had the virtual drive to load XP programs. However there is no support for the product and security is therefore an issue.Note: There is debate about whether you can by an OEM version of the software even when it is sold legally by a UK firm and when the implication is that you are not fiddlig the licence. Also, on sale will be English versions destined for non-UKIf that is detected officially Microsoft seem to have the right or ability to hack your computer to check. You are not informed. This is known by illegal hackers who seem to then hunt for images and documents they can use to extort money from you.Go for the full licence and you can load it on to the next computer you build (but one licence means one computer, for life (check latest licence rules).

I will stick with Win 7 till i die. i bought it for a specific reason when i built two new AMD gaming units and am ticked off that microsoft tried it’s hardest to get me to convert to there spyware OS windows 10. even placing malware on my machine to do phishing scams to upgrade. ihave since uninstalled all the Win 10 updates and win 10 telemetry that were unknowingly installed as win 7 upgrades. since then i’m win 10 free and back to normal win 7. i’ll move to Linux mint when 7 dies before migrating to win 10

Was so relieved and satisfied to get that Windows * “junk” off my new laptop. Windows 7 is clearly the more functional user friendly product than Windows 8. Leave it to Microsoft to take a great product – 7 and “fix” it by making it as least intuitive as possible. For guy’s like me who loved XP, at least I have an OS I can enjoy into the reasonably near future. You can keep Windows 8, 8.1, 8.2, Vista, and all the other “clunkers” they created…
Perster –
……but you already knew that.I loaded this Windows 7 version onto a Corsair 90 GB SSD in an almost 5 year old HP DV7-1200US laptop. It runs very well, restarting (from clicking restart to being back at the desktop) in 60 seconds and booting from a completely powered down state to the desktop in about 40 (although I can’t necessarily say how much of that speed is due the the SSD and how much is due to the OS itself). Regardless, I’ve been very pleased with its performance, in terms of both speed and smoothness of operation. Menus load almost instantaneously and programs run without the frequent hitches and hiccups of Vista. I cannot speak of nor recommend this OS highly enough.Another reviewer (user EvilOzzness who posted on the “Old Standard Packing” edition of this page for this version) seems to believe that since this is the OEM version of Win 7, once you install it onto a computer, you can never change any hardware components of the computer without breaking/locking the OS. He cites an excerpt from the EULA provided by Microsoft for OEM or “System Builder” versions of Win 7 as well as personal experience trying to replace a broken HDD as his reasoning. However, reassured by the advice of friends and other reviewers, I installed my copy and then added both a new 500 GB Western Digital HDD and 2x4GB of Samsung DDR2 RAM to my rig. This didn’t seem to cause any problems. The new hardware installs occurred after official Windows activation of the OS and I never had any issues with it booting or running on any level. The review I’m referencing was written in late 2011, so maybe Microsoft altered that section of the EULA since then, or maybe EvilOzzness just interpreted the text incorrectly and his plight was due to some other unseen issue. So, if you were afraid this might happen to you, don’t be (unless you need to change motherboards – OEM software should lock to motherboards, but only motherboards, not other hardware). In my experience, the fear is unwarranted.

Installed the windows on my pc and it worked perfectly fine!
Brian A. Randall –
Though labelled and licenced as OEM software it will install on a PC even if there is an existing OS on the drive. Like the full retail version of Windows 7 it contains the tools to replace the existing OS and save it as ‘Old’ or you can reformat the drive or change the partition structure before installing. No other software is required pre-install even though Microsoft states that you need to obtain installation tools first. As the software is OEM there is no Microsoft support in case of any issues.

I intalled Windows 7 to replace Windows Vista on my Lenovo desktop. The installation went cleanly without any trouble. I went from a 32 bit to 64 bit operation & gained some speed. I’m going to do the same thing for my Lenovo laptop. I understand that Windows 7 is the more popular O.S. & in high favor with many Windows users. My computer runs much better with this improvement. I’m so glad I made the switch.Don’t be afraid to install this yourself. Just insert the Pendrive & follow the easy instructions on gthe screen. If you do have problems in the future, you can always re-install the software again. Please note: this software is for one computer only.

With Microsoft ending its support of XP on April 8th, I knew I had to do something about one of our older Dell computers that’s been running XP for the last — wow maybe 8 years? A little voice told me I should just spend $400 on a new computer instead of $100 on a new OS but the old computer works fine and was pretty fast on XP, and the Windows Upgrade Advisor (free download, google it) told me that the unit would have no problems with Windows 7.So I copied all of my picture and document files off of the computer onto an external hard drive and booted this DVD. It only took about 10 minutes to install Windows 7 and yes, the hardest part is reading the micro type on the password key to unlock the copy of Windows. I took a picture with my iPhone and then zoomed in to read the numbers but even with that one number was VERY hard to read. After activation I spent the next hour or so configuring the computer, and I used Windows Easy Transfer (another free program from Microsoft) to mov… Read more

I bought this out of rebellion to the travesty Microsoft has foisted on us in Windows 10. After succumbing to Microsoft’s pleas to try the new OS I found it so “user friendly” that it was completely (for me) unusable. Deleted it and went back to Windows 7. This is a tried-and-true OS that allows the user to clearly see where your files are, move or modify them as needed and doesn’t try to second-guess you. The All Version Bootable DVD 64bit + 32bit version has the basic games such as chess, solitaire, etc. and runs smoothly without glitches. Microsoft needs to learn that “if it’s not broken stop trying to fix it”.

Magazines and websites recommend this for building your own PC, but as Microsoft only support it for OEM it is actually a pain a install on PCs that do not have a DVD drive. There is a work around using a combination of different software but it is a right faff. If I were doing it again I would not use Windows 7.

If I were you I wouldn’t upgrade to Windows 10. I did it and regret doing so. Can’t use my printer or open my photos. If you do it anyways, then regret it, you have 30 days to go back. They don’t tell you that and after 30 days Windows 10 deletes Windows &.

Purchased this to install on a computer sold with Windows 8 on it. The manufacturer does not supply all the Window 7 drivers on their website but I was able to locate all drivers after a couple of days searching the internet. For those who do not like Windows 8 and upgrading from XP, this is the way to go. I recommend this OS for anyone who enjoyed 7 and dislikes Windows 8 or needing to move from XP due to lack of support.
Sabeel –
Product key and software works as expected. A couple of thing to note though, when I first inserted my product key I had to activate it for my licence to take effect. This just meant ringing up microsoft and going through the automated service. Once that was done, it was fully activated.Another thing to note, I was having trouble with updates, it would hang on searching for updates for what seemed like forever. I found that downloading a few patches manually fixed the problem (KB3020369, KB3172605 and KB3151802 in that order). I suspect this has something to do with the fact that Windows 7 being discontinued and maybe some patches needed to be downloaded manually. After this though, I have constant updates automatically downloading and installing regularly so I have not had any problems since.

I have a Toshiba laptop that is 6 years old (2008) that came with Vista that is still pretty powerful. After I got it, I installed a Linux distribution on it and have been using Linux until now, but decided I wanted to go back to Windows (my wife’s is Win 8.1, which I like). I researched on Toshiba and Microsoft websites as well as other sites, to whether I could upgrade to Win 8.1. Based on the architecture (no UEFI / secure boot), it appeared I could only go to Win 8, not Win 8.1. Since I am not a fan of 8, I decided to upgrade to Win 7. I reinstalled Vista (a real pain), but I wanted to do a “clean install”. This DVD went in smoothly, and allowed to do exactly what I wanted: Wipe the disk clean, create a partition for Win 7, and install. It went fast, and after multiple Windows Update batches and reboots, my laptop works like a charm — fast boot, great performance.

Goodbye Vista. Hello Windows 7. I was a little worried about the whole process of upgrading my computer. I nearly bought an entirely new system but in the end, the price tag on the Windows 7 upgrade was more appealing than the price tag on an entirely new system. ( I would have had to have the touch screen…which meant a new monitor and $$$.) Windows 7 was easy to upgrade to and didn’t take as long as I’d feared. My existing system is older but I’ve put a lot of money into different things (new UPS, graphics card, etc) and I have a lot of RAM and power in my existing system… So anyone with a decent system who doesn’t want to take the leap and spend a bunch of money can upgrade easily in a cost effective way!*I found the need to upgrade as several of my current programs were not running correctly with Vista
Doug –
I decided to upgrade from Vista to 7 instead of 8 to keep the familiar desktop and i wasn’t disappointed. Even though it says its for system builders only, it loaded from my vista desktop as normal and gave me a choice of upgrading from vista or a fresh install.I went for a new install. Note that you can use this OS with one pc [it locks to the motherboard], but they all do that now, don’t they!i’m pleased with this OS, seems very stable and easy to use.

Activated fine (as one would expect), so the only other thing to comment on is the quality of the sticker with the product key on it. It’s been on the bottom of my laptop for quite a while and it hasn’t lost of a touch of quality after a good amount of rub. Still like Windows 7 better than 8.1!
W P N –
Great product, ease of installation. I’m not tech savvy, so I was very apprehensive about upgrading from XP to Win 7 by myself. so my choices were to take it to a computer store to install the upgrade, or buying another computer with Win 7 already installed, I opted for the third choice, Do it myself. I figured, I didn’t have anything to lose by trying, either of the other two choices would’ve cost money anyway, besides why not deal with the challenge? Glad I did, after some research on the Microsoft website, I went ahead and purchase this software and went at it. I am extremely glad I did, my computer is running as it did when first bought, and Windows 7 offers ease of navigating. I am happy with the results. Go ahead and use software…But go to the Microsoft website for instructions and follow along when prompted by the software..It’s easy. OH, save whatever personal files or pictures you want to keep on to a memory stick. The upgrade will delete all the junk that has been cluttering and slowing down the computer.I recommend this software.

The Pendrive came in a sleeve which I was happy with. The operating system itself was just like any other installer and the installation was very easy. The activation was successful. A authentic sticker also comes included. I understand that the machine you install this on means you can only reinstall it on that motherboard the machine has meaning you cannot upgrade this motherboard without losing the operating system and use it on another computer. But this is what you have to expect from OEM software. So all in all I am very happy especially with the fact that Windows 7 is a huge improvement over the slow Windows Vista I used for many years.

Probably the best version of Windows yet. I bought this for a custom PC I built after having experienced how shoddy Win8 was while working on my father’s computer. I was a tech support monkey for Gateway back in the days of Windows 98 & Windows Me(gasp!) and have built several of my own home computers… as far as daily use, I go back to Windows 3.1, if that tells you anything(yeah, I’m old). Windows 7 is – so far – Microsoft’s crowning achievement. Vista was a nightmare and quite frankly, Windows 8 is just embarrassing… WTF?! I will stick with Windows 7 until they stop supporting it. After that, we will just wait & see.

Works very well with OS X Yosemite using bootcamp. My only problem was during the windows installation it didn’t recognize my mouse until installation was complete and I could install the apple drivers. Even the apple keyboard I was using had limited functionality until windows was finished installing. I got by tabbing through all the windows on the keyboard and waiting to enter the product key until it was complete. I had to manually run setup for the bootcamp drivers for the Mac system because they didn’t automatically run like they were supposed to. I suggest using a windows compatable keyboard and mouse for initial setup until you can install the drivers. Once through that everything operates perfectly.

I was initially hesitant if this “system builder” version would work with Parallel. After reading several reviews, I gained some confidence, pulled the trigger, and it works! I only need it to run a few PC specific apps. I did get an error saying low memory (8GB), which I’ve heard can be expected due to the drain of running a virtual machine. It doesn’t hold up the install process, just notifies you to go spend some more money and get more RAM 🙂

So much better than windows 8. Unless you have a touchscreen monitor, or are going to game with the latest hardware, avoid 8 and wait for 10 or use 7.

I installed this on a new SSD to replace the HDD with Win 8.1 that came with my HP Laptop. Some drivers were different, but after running Windows Update everything started working just fine. Incidentally, the SSD really reduced the boot time. I’d recommend this for anyone who wants to downgrade Win 8/8.1.

This product did need to be activated by a smart phone. After activation it ran well. There are other cheaper W7 listed that also require activation by phone (which then tells you to use a smart phone), I bought this because I didn’t think I’d need to make that annoying call. If you don’t mind phone activation buy a cheaper version.

Worked exactly as expected. Installed and was able to upgrade to Windows 10 within an hour. The wording on the package is a bit intimidating if you’re not computer savvy but it’s very simple.

Used this product to install Windows 7 on a system that had Windows XP..No problems, straight forward process. It is a 64bit system. There is no choice of 32 or 64.Just make sure that current system can handle 64bit. Use the free Microsoft Windows 7 adviser.Recommended to any computer savvy or system builder person who wants to replace an earlier version of Windows with Win 7.

I finally updated my home computer using XP with Windows 7 since XP no longer supported. I simply followed the instructions online at microsoft. I do have an external drive and used the microsoft software to create a back-up on the drive and reload all after install of windows 7. Since I had a lot of files, the back up took about 3h. I just got it going and did other work. Installing Windows 7 very easy when following instructions from microsoft. Then reloading all files back from external hard drive seemed to go faster with no problems. Overall my computer is running faster than ever. No complaints with this product. Similar to XP with some minor variations so I didn’t have all the learning curve that folks go through with windows 8 which is more complicated to learn.
