After less a month of installing the disk it began to produce a noise, and the failure is mechanical, it started with an error when copying files, it disconnected after a few minutes and now it is almost impossible to start since its mechanical failure apparently prevents it from starting normal … totally frustrating.

First time in over 30 years I had a hard drive failure (blessed I guess).Ordered this to replace the drive that crashed. Was received quickly and was able to install and reinstall Windows. Machine was back up and running within an hour – other than tweaking/reinstalling some specialized software.Have always been happy with WD products.Thinking I need a couple extra hanging around for spares – just in case.

I just received 2 8TB drives and both plastic inserts were collapsed or crushed for drives, with no damage to the cardboard boxes. So the plastic is too thin to support the weight of the drives in shipping. This doesn’t bode well for the long term health of the drives. I will be performing full (looooong) formats for both drives, but that still doesn’t mean they won’t die later. I’ll try another brand next time and see if their packing materials are better than WD’s.

This is a hidden gem in hard drives. 8GB and consumer prices, but it uses CMR so it doesn’t slow down when I’m copying a large job for backup.I saved over $30 over a regular NAS drive, and since its just for an every 2 week backup and will spend the rest of the time turned off, I’m not worried about the drive running constantly.Good price, good technology and good size! Win-win-win!

I used this to replace a rather unstable SSD. The WD HDD (even though rated the same speed) is a lot slower than the SSD drive it replaced. This drive seems to be a good compromise between speed and reliability.SSD win10: Vulcan (fast but loses data) – never heard of this company before.SSD win 7: Crucial (fast but keeps becoming corrupt) – brand has a good reputation.SSD win 7: Sandisk (fast, but total unrecoverable fail) – brand has rep that matches Western Digital.HDD win10: Western Digital (comparatively slow but stable) – brand well-known for decades.Hope this help,JimB

Is labelled as a 4TB, but shows up in Win 10 as a 2TB. I tried doing a Clean and refomatting it a couple of times, but it is a 2TB. It stopped working entirely after two weeks, so it is going back.

Un ringraziamento a Fabio Store (venditore storico) per la sua celerità. WD è altrettanto rinomata per il suoi dischi rigidi. Purtroppo però questa volta il disco è difettoso, non parte o se lo fa emette un sibilo assurdo, il windows 10 stenta a partire e non riesce ad accedere al disco pur avendolo riconosciuto. Tentando la formattazione semplicemente viene disattivato da sistema operativo. Un vero peccato.

2 TB, I believe, is the max partition size for Win 10. So install is easy with no 3rd party software or drivers to install. Just partition it using windows and u r ready to go. Its also quiet as a church mouse. No complaints at all.

Not much can be said. It installs the same as every 3.5″ HDD for the past 20+ years (SATA vs IDE aside). Large capacity and inexpensive. Powered right up, quick format to a single partition and my new storage drive was ready to rock. Been about a month now and zero issues. I’ll update if it fails within the first couple years. My last advice would be to buy larger than you think you’ll need. If you’re looking at the 2TB, just buy the 3-4TB. It’s not that much more money. lol

Made a storage server using this drive to store files to keep. Server was only run when needed to be used. Was working great, added a number of files to save as did not want to loose them. Started computer one day and drive had failed so lost all my stored files. Have not been able to retrieve them in any way. Western Digital is usually a good product but this one failed and cost me dearly. Next time there will be numerous drives that are mirrored for redundancy.

I got this drive to put into an OWC Mercury Elite enclosure and to use it as an extra backup external drive. I got the 4TB model. I partitioned it into 1TB and 3TB. I used the 1TB as a clone of my main OS drive, and the other 3TBs for backing up data on other external drives. When I ran the clone using Carbon Copy Cloner, it took FOREVER!. I then backed up some data to the other 3TB partition and it was also way too long. I’m not sure if there is a problem or if this is just a horribly slow drive. I tried to save some money and I probably made a big mistake and should have got a better 7200 RPM drive instead. I figured the 5400 RPM might be a little slower but man oh man. Just to give you an example of how slow. I copied 1.56TBs of data and it took a whopping 9 hrs and 51 minutes!! I wish I could send it back and get a better drive. But I’ve already wasted almost 20 hours backing up data to it. Sad…

Do not buy it. There is squeaking noise (bad sectors) from the hdd, so I replaced it. But the replacement also has squeaking noise. So my files are not accessible. And the replacement period is over now.

I bought this less than 12 months ago and the drive has failed. WD want nothing to do with it claiming it is an “OEM Drive” and that the “warranty rests with the vendor” – good luck getting your money back from a vendor 12 or 24 months down the line. I’ve started the process but it’s hardly easy or straightforward

I have been using WD Blues for a long time and I have never had an issue with any of them. I decided to pick up one of the 8TB drives as the price is great and it is CMR so its a win/win. The drive came packaged very well and when I checked the warranty status with WD it was a full 3 years. I turned off head parking using idle3-tools within linux and expect to have years of service with this drive. I plan on picking up a few more for a home media server/private cloud.

Compré este disco de WD para sustituir otro de menor capacidad en mi Pc y usarlo como almacén de fotos y archivos personales. Por su precio y capacidad era lo mejor que podía conseguir. Como disco de arranque tengo un SSD de WD también así que no necesitaba un SSD.Es de 2Tb de capacidad 7200rpm y cache de 256Mb lo que le da una velocidad muy interesante a pesar de ser un disco mecánico, además muy silencioso y velocidad Sata 3 6Gs/s.Tras unos meses funcionando correctamente me dió problemas al arrancar (fallaba el “spin on”) y le costaba arrancar. Otras veces arrancaba bien, pero bien en reposo, bien en uso daba el error aleatoriamente.Me puse en contacto con el vendedor (B2M Zone) y rapidamente se pusieron en contacto conmigo. En unos días me sustituyeron el disco por otro completamente nuevo sin poner ninguna pega. Totalmente satisfecho con la atención.Una vez cambiado el disco, ha funcionado sin problema. Espero que haya sido mala suerte y me ha tocado uno con defecto de fabricación. Es raro porque llevo muchos años (mas de 20) utilizando discos de esta marca y salvo uno (por años de uso y bastante intensivo) no me han dado problemas.Si tienes la suerte (como yo) de que esté en garantía pides el cambio. Los datos es otro cantar…

Western Digital 4TB WD Blue PC Internal Hard Drive HDD – 5400 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s, 256 MB CacheGot it unformulated which is no big deal formatted – however total functioning capacity is around 3.6 TB. Don’t know how long it will last but so far so good. Speed is decent. Bought it for main failsafe backup drive for everything and assume it will work perfect for that purpose for a few years at least.

It’s the highest capacity I could get at the price so as long as it lasts me a few years I’ll be happy. It loads games well enough. Not super fast but it beats my external usb 2.0 Seagate handily. Easy install and setup. No complaints yet. Will update if it fails or starts making noise.

This hard drive does NOT come with the data or power cable, that’s on me. I assumed it would because all other drives do. They do not claim it or show it comes with one, so keep that in mind. The drive it self is what it is, a 4tb drive from WD. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the serial number on the drive had to be authorized and applied for registration by WD. I went to WD website to register my drive and I was not able to do it myself. It took 3 days for them to verify and authorize the serial number for registration. Customer service did not state why or what was wrong with the serial number. In the end the drive is valid and running. I am upset it’s 20 dollars cheaper a days after I bought it though…

I was looking at a large capacity HDD to move files from old computer and also as a archive solution. The 4tb HDD was perfect for the job. I am using it with a nexxtech docking station and had no issues so far. I have partitioned the drive to have a portion for macOS and exfat.Transfer speeds are decent but I knew it was not going to be the fastest. I was looking for a reliable HDD and so far so good.

Runs great. Faster than all my other 8tb drives. I have them in a terramaster 5-bay.They are noisy though. I can hear them across the room. I think next time I’d sacrifice the extra speed for something less noisy though.

Having been fed up with a 2TB pencil drive not being compatible with Windows 10 (don’t you just love how Microsoft tries to control your life?!!!) or not working properly with the Mac, I decided to get another Western Digital 4TB drive. They continue to be the world leader in drives. Although this is an internal drive, I didn’t want to pay the more expensive price for an external drive, plus my Mac is old (2008) and the connection is USBA, so the latest external drives would likely not connect. I therefore use this drive in a docking station and it works fine. – I play music live from this during my radio shows, loading to the playout app.For me the SSDs of this capacity and greater need to come down considerably in price before I will switch over to them. I therefore use great HDDs like this and they work fine.

I have went through 2 of these hard drives. The first one acted up straight out of the box. The second one got a month past the return window but both malfunctioned the same. When transfering files to or from the drive it delivers up to around 20MBSfor a few seconds then CLINCK, it stops for several seconds only to do it again. It can take 10 or 20 minutes to transfer a 1 or 2 gigabyte file. Lucky for me I have been sceptical of loading this thing up with files because of my experience with the first one. Not getting another. I don’t want the worries of when the next one will fail every time I turn on my PC.

I want to love this drive, but the first one I ordered was DOA – just ‘clicking’ noises. The return was super simple, and I got a replacement drive within 2 days, so kudos for that. Unfortunately, the replacement drive, while recognized as an external drive, would not initialize. It’s not my first rodeo, this drive just wouldn’t work. I had to opt for a refund, as there was no ‘same drive’ replacement option. I will, however, buy another because I live on the promise of a brighter tomorrow…?

When I was fitting it, I noticed “Recertified” and a couple of Chinese/Japanese characters etched/stamped onto the side. Not glaringly obvious. I wonder whether this might explain the relatively large number of failures being reported. Drive seems to be working, but I’ll have to see how long that remains the case. Don’t know what the warranty period is on recertified drives. I feel the seller should state it’s a recertified drive.

El disco por si mismo esta bien, llego bien empacado y Western Digital nunca me ha fallado, para un usuario normal le puede servir para almacenar su colección de musica, videos o hasta juegos, pero al ser un disco duro basado en tecnología SMR y no CMR, cualquier proceso que involucre sobre escritura tardara mucho mas y tendrá un impacto mas significativo en la vida útil del disco.Si planeas usar el disco para cualquier aplicación que no sea almacenamiento a largo plazo de datos intenta evitar de este y otros discos SMR.

Only buy this drive if you’re using it for data storage in a non-RAID environment. I bought this drive for cheap capacity and to hold backups. It’s fine for that. Do not buy this drive to run an OS from, use in a RAID solution, or for editing of any kind. Buy it for storage and call it day.

Usually a great product, this drive refused to show its full 8tb capacity, just 1.3tb. Bought a 4tb of the same before. This one just didn’t work right. I got it to finally see the 8tb size, but when saving, files, it got stuck at around 1.3tb, go figure. Returned. Either a dud, or falsely advertised as 8tb.

After downloading the free cloning software from Acronis I used it successfully to clone a Samsung 1TB SSD from a 250 Gb Samsung SSD (4 Stars). In contrast, the free Samsung software for cloning failed repeatedly getting stuck at 99% completion. Haven’t yet tested the new 4TB blue WD disk, but have reasonable experience (3 – 4 stars) with older 4Tb WD BLUE disks to store huge amount of data and Photos. Based on comments by others, it seems important to understand the difference between the more classical CMR construction HDDs (e.g.WD RED PLUS) versus the cheaper blue WD HDDs with SMR construction . I use the blue WD HDDs almost exclusively for data storage, not for intensive data analyses & modelings.

Well let’s see, errored out during initial format. Rebooted pc, started over and it worked. Now, nowhere in the description did it mention this drive was a magician but it is. It can make files disappear, and can make the entire drive just disappear at will! Loaded the drive up with around 3tb worth of media files. Sometimes you can watch a movie other times “we are unable to find the media file you requested” houdini it’s gone. But wait, after a simple reboot the files are back like magic! I have a replacement sitting outside my door right now. After reading the reviews I’m not putting this trash in my pc I’ll request a refund. The drive is not as advertised either, they do not come in new WD packaging, it’s some refurbished garbage listed as new.

This is an oem drive. It also doesn’t come with the necessary SATA cable. The seller listing doesn’t mention this at all, so having to go out and purchase cables separately makes installation a bit terrible.

金曜日の午前に発注したが金曜日の午後に発送されず。発送通知が来ないので問い合わせると本日の発送は終了したと。発送は来週になるとのことで月曜日に発送してもらい、火曜日に佐川で届いた。ダンボールの中にHDD青箱と緩衝材の紙という状態。青箱の中はプチプチ袋に包まれ、静電気防止袋に入ったハードディスクとCFDの保証書。佐川だったので少し不安だったが問題なく使えている。なお、同時期に他店でも購入したが、ドスパラの方はプチプチの緩衝材多めで佐川。ソフマップは緩衝材少なくヤマト。USB外付けのHDDスタンドで使用。ダイソーの300円USB扇風機で横から風を当てて24時間運用。5400回転であってもHDDは空冷しないと熱が籠もって動作不良を起こす。

Got the 4 TB version. Drive was easy to install and load data on. Bought the drive in March 2022 and I am now getting drive error and a beeping sound from the drive as of July 2022. A 5 month run is not a great selling feature on a drive, not when I have others that have been going for years.

These drives are probably the worst thing I’ve ever put into my computer, bought two of them only to have them fail shortly before their warranty expired (2 months). After hassling with someone who barely spoke English and wasting money on their very specific repacking instructions+shipping I received 2 new refurbished drives after waiting 2 months with no updates, they failed as well; in an even shorter time frame.My husband ran several tests on the refurbished drives before installing them and insisted they would probably fail as well but conveniently it’s past the warranty period because of how long they took to send the replacements. He’s also fairly positive they simply replaced the cover plate and returned the same drive to us as well since it has the exact same paint defect on the backside of the drive.Invest in an SSD, the standards for mechanical drives have clearly fallen.

Colpa mia che non ho letto le recensioni. Credo che anche il mio faccia parte di una partita di hard disk difettosi, il bios lo vede ma il disco non parte, doveva essere montato su un pc nuovo, per scrupolo smonto e installo nel vecchio pc perfettamente funzionante, sorpresaaaaaa, mi mandava in blocco tutta la macchina e allora decido di fare il reso. Ed ora arriva il bello, le spese di spedizione me le sono dovute pagare………questa cosa mi può andar bene nel caso in cui sia io che non voglio quel disco perchè cambio idea, ma nel caso il prodotto non funzioni per niente la cosa cambia, anche perchè io conoscevo una parola, “GARANZIA”, che dovrebbe essere applicata anche agli oggetti venduti in rete. RIPETO……è anche un pò colpa mia che non ho letto le recensioni, altrimenti non compravo. L’oggetto l’ho spedito oggi, voglio vedere quando e quanto mi rimborsano stà gente.P.S.= Con questa figuraccia ho deciso che disdico anche PRIME!!!!

Im Laufe der Jahre habe ich zig Festplatten eingebaut. Die letzten waren 4TB Festplatten. Alle widerum ohne Probleme. Doch diese wurde zwar vom BIOS erkannt, aber nicht von W10. Erst nachdem die Festplatte inialisiert wurde usw. wurde sie von Windows erkannt. Ist das Standart?

I bought this disk 3 months ago to locally store some documents and media. The value for money was the best at the time, and I was not looking for amazing performance since I use my SSD M2 if performance is needed. I recommended this disk for storage purpose only. Also , please make sure to save important files on the cloud / NFS since hard drive are known for failure. I only store non-important stuff on this disk and so far it’s been great.

The price of these is usually low enough to consider buying them new for off-line storage. Something most people don’t consider using a hard drive for. 4TB has become small for my purposes, but as off-line storage I don’t want to risk more than that on one drive. It’s much simpler to archive data on a 4TB hard drive in a dock and keep it in a case than to burn 4TB to a stack of Blu-Ray disks every few months, and DVDs are completely out of the question. I’m archiving around 20TB of 4K video that I’ve captured with GoPros so far. Most of it is on “retired” drives, but I’ve run out of reliable older drives and I think I’ll be upgrading to these in the future. They’re unlikely to store data forever without some degradation, but rewriting the data once a year won’t wear them out for decades. These will not work well in an NAS or even a RAID array in a PC, and shouldn’t be used in a PC with more than one or two hard drives anyway. They’re not designed to cope with vibration from several other drives, but as a single drive or for data backup they’re fine. It’s a capable drive for typical home use. For full-time use in an array, the Red Plus and Red Pro drives are what I get. If you need to store large amounts of data off-line, or if you just need a new drive in a home PC, this is a good choice.

Ive been buying western digital blues for years now and I can easily say they are the best. Ive tried other hard drives and either found that they were slightly too noisy for my liking or that they died after 3-4 years. Currently I have about 8 tb of mass storage in my build all running on western digital blues, with 2tb of that running in a RAID 0. Definitelt my go to.

Soy consumidor de esta marca de discos, poco ruido y baja temperatura, si se tratan bien y evitamos golpes y meneos cuando estan en funcionamiento son muy duraderos, este lo compre para sustituir a uno de 1TB de la misma marca que tiene casi 10 años y con cristadisk no me da errores, pero por seguridad y antes de perder los archivos, decidi cambiarlo, es una buena opcion.

Diese Festplatte wurde in einem nicht mal gepolsterten Briefumschlag geschickt. Hab sie reklamiert, die Mitarbeiter darauf aufmerksam gemacht und noch mal gekauft aber die zweite HDD war leider genauso schlecht verpackt.Und wenn man bedenkt wie die Paketboten mit den Paketen umgehen dann möchte ich meine Daten nicht auf so eine Festplatte haben.

These are currently the best value CMR storage drives. They’re pretty noisy though so keep that in mind, although it’s normal for them. I don’t hear them while watching movies off them after the initial read, but if noisy drives bother you then this one will be the worst you ever get. I’ve had many blue drives over the years and none have ever failed, my oldest being a 6 year old with over 57k hours. But hey you never know, always 3-2-1 your backups regardless.

Some time ago, my computer’s hard drive was broken and I couldn’t read it. So I bought this hard drive, the installation is still very simple, and the capacity is quite large. The speed is slower than I thought, and it takes a long time to back up the data. I regret that I didn’t buy an SSD.

Edit: turns out the front USB ports on the pc were to blame. When installed into machine drive is seen in its entirety. Format to NTFS. Put back into the same USB ports and the computer won’t recognize. Use a different set of front USB and the drive is read just fine….Both front expansions are USB 3.0. I’m at a loss for why, but all is good!Drive formats at 2Tb. Thought I did something wrong and went mbr. Nope. Restarted pic and restarted drive, still 2Tb. Picture shows drive was in right format.

I’ve had this drive for less than a month and it crapped out on me already. Luckily I have all the files I transferred onto it still stored elsewhere otherwise I would be SOL.Hard to say if I recommend this since it could have just been faulty from the get go but because of this experience I will be going a different route than WD moving forward

As someone who has a gaming pc todays games routinely are 35-50 gb in size, this for my needs perfectly so I don’t have to uninstall to create space. You won’t get super fast loading unlike with an ssd but they ones with a lot of space are expensive. For budget minded gamers this is necessary

I ordered this drive in Aug 2021 and as of Feb 2022 I’m now getting the click of death and the drive is no longer visible to Windows. The good news is the drive appears to be within the warranty period at Western Digital. I’ve requested a replacement from WD, let’s see how that goes.Even if I get a new drive, I’m pretty bummed about the reliability. I have a SSD for my OS, so this drive is used mainly to archive documents, files and doesn’t get much use overall.

Disque livré défectueux. une pochette cartonnée n’est clairement pas suffisant pour transporter ce disque dur car il a visiblement été abimé pendant le transport. j’ai réussi à formater le disque dur et commencer la copie de fichiers mais il a planté à 10% et depuis le disque n’est plus reconnu par windows et dans le BIOS, le disque est considéré en “imminent failure” mais rien d’étonnant vu la non protection de l’emballage, une enveloppe cartonnée n’est clairement pas suffisante pour protéger un disque dur….

I had one of these 4TB Blue drives already installed. When one of my old drives started showing a SMART indication of impending failure, I bought another 4TB Blue. It seems to me to be the best value per TB available. Installation was just a few minutes. It runs as expected.

Nobody should have to read 100+ pages to clone a new hard drive. They should provide a check list before you start cloning and wasting hours to find out some stupid little scan you should have done beforehand. It should be as simple as plug and play but NO!

Es un buen producto por su funcionalidad.Mucho se dice del ruido, a mi experiencia personal, en si los discos duros hacen algunos ruidos comunes de lectura, escritura, etc. Este en particular se mantiene en un nivel común medio/bajo, y en 3 meses de uso, no ha generado más ruido del regular.Por funcionalidad esta muy bien, es lo que se espera en velocidades de un disco duro, yo tengo la versión de 7200rpm y no hay ninguna queja.En cuanto a relación calidad precio, es un buen producto.

This WD80EAZZ drive arrives out of the box with head parking set at 80 (8 seconds). Under Ubuntu direct connected via SATA, this drive honors the idle3ctl -d command to disable head parking. Other than arriving with head parking set to 8 seconds, this drive appears to be identical to white label or Red 8TB WD drives (non-helium).

StretchING out life cycle till I build a Win 11 PC.TIP: when you clone let’s say a 1TB Drive to a 2 Win 10 can stretch the partitions to max size to easy. Don’t know about 8 and 9. As per the headline – it’s relatively reasonably priced, seems to work quite quickly and hasn’t thrown up any problems in the couple of weeks I’ve been using it in a USB3 Yottomaster 4-bay box attached to one of my Synology NAS units.Biggest issue was actually trying to register the warrantee on the WD site – which wouldn’t accept the jpg shot of the rating plate (then resolved by direct contact with WD Tech Support).

This drive is noisy and overactive. It never seems to rest. While spinning, it sometimes seizes the computer until it is done. and this is often. I am not sure what it is doing when running like that. DISCLOSURE: I downloaded Acronis utility to copy my old disk. Not sure if this is the reason.

Viene bien empacada y embalada en su caja de cartón con soportes de plástico para evitar movimiento y maltrato durante el traslado, está en su bolsa antiestática bien sellada.Sin problemas en la instalación y formateo, todo excelente en su funcionamiento. It’s true that these use the shingle style of writing but that has not been a problem for me and my use of them.I bought these to upgrade the amount of storage in my Unraid server. I mostly copy my media files to the array once then read from them repeatedly. The downside of these drives and drives like these is that they can have a problem writing data. Since I do little of that, I have little problem. In fact no problem to date.Reading from drives like this are not a problem and is no different than the other style of writing data. Reading is equal. So if you are not “write” dependent, you will not have an argument against these drives.

Figured out why performance was so poor. Drive is able to keep up at the beginning but once the CMR cache is full, performance drops off a cliff.Also, drive housekeeping means even when idle (or CPU is even off), drive is thrashing.Didn’t realize it was SMR until after the return window was closed.After more than a year since the original discovery that WD was silently using SMR tech, no change on this product’s page, or on any info from WD website.

Cane in a simple box, HDD was held in the middle of the box with these hard plastic holders? Wrapped in the usual static bag, no fancy packaging – which is great because it’s a waste.HDD went out of the box and into my PC tower, initialise and a quick format; boom – good to go. Decent GB per dollar, it’s mainly used for storage of holiday pics and concert videos etc, so RPM or RW speeds don’t matter for me.Got two of these in my system now and it’s just superb!

Inköptes den 13e september (mottogs den 15e september) då en av mina hårddiskar började lida mot sitt slut, så jag tog säkerhetskopior på allt från den till den här hårddisken. Allt verkade lovande och fungerade utmärkt….i exakt 27 dagar, då den bara dog igår från absolut ingenstans.Jag har alltså betalat närmare 1000 kronor för en hårddisk som jag nu kommer få spendera upp emot 7000 kronor för att återställa datan ifrån, och då är inte en ny hårddisk av en helt annan tillverkare inräknad i den summan, för Western Digital kommer jag aldrig använda mig mer av efter det här.Undvik som pesten. Always prefered WD compare to Seagate. Both are good product but using HHD for 35 years, WD are more tough for the job. First time I use the blue one though. Just hope they won’t crash like my Seagates. I will primaly use it as backup but also as an external HHD with docking station connected to a NAS 24/7. I used before a simple external Seagate hard drive and it didn’t liked to be running 24/7 and it crashed. It looks like it was never going under sleep when not used. Hope my docking station will do so, if not, WD blue do the job for what it should give. This is a long terme test….review. 🙂

Ha un sistema interno che manda in standby il disco dopo qualche minuto di inutilizzo. Forse il disco peggiore che abbia mai acquistato in quanto tale funzione rende impossibile lavorarci, decente solo per l’archiviazione e soprattutto non si risolve neanche dopo la formattazione.

Es un disco duro barato con tecnologia SMR. La industria encontró la manera de abaratar costesmetiendo mas información en los sectores. Pero nadie regala nada, y estos discos SMR para tareas de mucho trabajo suelen disminuir velocidad al cabo de un rato. Están bien para backups y cosas por el estilo pero para disco principal se suele quedar corto. Este en concreto está bien segun lo que es y va a 7200. rpm y podria dar el pego. Pero los SMR a 5400 rpm resultan directamente un fiasco segun lo que se espere de ellos. A los discos mecánicos de siempre que si cumplen con velocidad constante ahora les llaman CMR y los venden al doble de precio. Tontos no son, no…

I have four SSDs with large files. Everything is great, until I need to clear off a large amount of storage to reorganize a disk. I end up deleting backups that I “probably” won’t need. I got this 4TB HDD for pocket change. WD Blues are one of the most reliable drives too. Now I can easily move large volumes of files to this 4TB HDD as a work area or archive. It never fails to amaze me how incredibly slow HDDs are compared with the NVME SSDs. So I start the file copy to the HDD and take a break, its done when I get back.

Tenia miedo de comprar este disco sobretodo por ser mecánico,lo compre junto un apagador wifi y empacaron las 2 cosas EN UNA BOLSA. Pensé que mínimo estarían en una caja con mayor protección que una bolsa de cartón ya que el hdd solo viene en su bolsa anti estática. Pasando esta primera bandera roja lo conecte a la pc a ver si servia hizo ruidos al iniciar (2da bandera roja) tardo mucho en iniciar la pc (3ra bandera roja) y al tratar de inicializar no reconocía el disco (por si aún quedaba esperanza, 4ta bandera roja) se intento conectar en 3 pcs diferentes para confirmar y en todas daba el mismo error. ahora a esperar la devolución.

到着した段ボール箱にショップ名「パソコン工房」・「精密機器」・「取扱注意」の表記があり、中には隙間なく厚手のプチプチに包まれた商品がありました。商品自体の箱の中にもプチプチはあるのですが、これくらいしっかりした梱包なら安心です。（不良品に当たらなければですが） 早速大容量のファイルコピーをしましたが、低発熱・静音・高速の三拍子揃った良い製品でした。SMRではなくCMRなのが大きなポイントです。巷ではIntelliParkについて色々書かれていますが、気になったら自己責任で無効化など試そうと思っています。今現在、8TBの安価なHDDを買うならCMR方式のこれ一択かもしれません。

easy to install , good reading and writing speed, and 7200 rpm is perfectly good with gaming too. and piece of advice for those who are purchasing this for their secondary hard drive or like those who are expanding their storage that this hard drive does not come with power cable to connect to psu or sata cable to connect to your mobo… so purchase it that too. luckily I had extra cables came with my psu so I only had to purchase the extra sata cable. I don’t know if this is a common knowledge for every one but for a noob like it was a surprise so I had to order it separately after getting the hard drive … so if there is some one like me who dont have knowledge of this kind of stuff and they are also new to this than just putting this out for those.

Era da parecchio tempo che cercavo un HDD da 4 tb, per storage. Ho tenuto d’occhio i prezzi, per la verità non c’è stata una significativa diminuzione, ma questa offerta l’ho colta al volo. Arrivato come sempre in tempi brevissimi, l’HDD funziona benissimo, piuttosto veloce per essere meccanico, visto che oramai siamo abituati alle velocità degli SSD e degli M.2. Imballo molto buono. Ich habe meine Daten mit Rsync von der alten auf die neue Platte überspielt, da die alte HDD nach 9 Jahren lauter wurde und mir trotz “Null Fehler” im S.M.A.R.T. Log zu unsicher war.Nachdem die 2 TB der alten Platte kopiert waren lies sich die neue Platte nicht mehr ansprechen. im BIOS wurde sie mit der falschen Kapazität angezeigt. Es scheint, als hätte der Controller den Dauerbetrieb nicht überstanden.Mir wurde aber sofort von “TechnikBilliger” ein RMA-Aufkleber zugeschickt. Jetzt warte ich auf die neue HDD. Solange bleibt die alte in Betrieb. Mal sehen ob die Inbetriebnahme bei nächsten mal funktioniert,

So far It’s a great Hard drive! The only thing was that Computers don’t always see Hard drive untill you go through the installment process in Computer Management program. Doing that to set it up should be in instruction that come with the Item but there was none woith this. So I had to think and remember about the Management program where as a lot of people won’t. Once that’s done, it’s a snap to use!

Très déçu de ce disque.Disque dur technologie SMR (WD20EZBX).Disque ayant à peine servi (je l’utilisais en disque dur de sauvegarde sur une station d’accueil), HS en moins de 6 mois : j’ai miraculeusement réussi à récupérer mes 1,5 To de données un jour où il a de nouveau été reconnu et s’est remis à fonctionner. De nouveau non reconnu le lendemain donc absolument pas fiable.Le 2e identique semble toujours fonctionner, mais j’ai quand même je pense une épée de Damoclès sur la tête : vraiment très déçu alors que j’ai plusieurs autres WD20 (plus vieux donc exclusivement technologie CMR) qui fonctionnent parfaitement depuis plus de 10 ans.

I use these drives for storage within a NAS. They’ve worked great. Wouldn’t recommend for gaming with anything that’s disk “speed sensitive” since these are only 5400rpm – but for general data storage they should work well.

I put this into an external SATA, 4 bay, ‘USB3 drive docking station’, that I have been using for many years to offload and backup files from my desktop PC on a Windows OS. My current OS is Win11 Pro 22H2, and the installation was very easy. You will likely need to call up the Win disk manager to initialize and format this drive. I’m happy 🙂

Drive came with 100% health according to HD Sentinel, which is expected but still worth mentioning. The installation was easy: Power/SATA cables, insertion into drive caddy. I use it for storing all my Photos and Home VIdeos and well as other stuff. The drive runs at around 34C at idle. Great value for the money at a bit over 2 cents per GB.

1年で必ず壊れるSeagateは論外として、最も信頼を寄せていたHGSTも買収され。。。日立の技術力なら安心かも？と使い始めたWDでしたが、速いわ安いわで気分アゲアゲでコレばっか購入。が、しかし。6TB Blueは購入後数日でデータが読めなくなったもの数台。数ヶ月でダメになったもの数台。データ保存用に１回だけ書き込んだものが読めなくなっていたもの１台。そして、また今回、データ保存用に１回だけ書き込んだものが読めなくなっていた。。。読み書き作業はNVMe x ８枚の大容量ストライプRAIDでやっているため、HDD側のアクセスは少ないはず。複数のPCやMacで同じ症状だったため、やはりHDD側コントローラーの問題かな？容量がデカいだけに、またしてもデータ取り出しに莫大な時間を取られそうです。。。あきらめて、日立時代のHGSTヘリウムSASを購入し、念のためミラーRAIDしました。泣

Ich habe mir die WD 4 TB HDD geholt da ich immer gute Erfahrungen mit dem Hersteller hatte.Diese Platte kam leider in einem dünnen Pappumschlag ohne jeglichen Schlagschutz.Platte eingebaut und fing gleich an zu Klackern, Partitionnierung war nicht möglich und selbst die WD Diagnosetools und Partitionmagic konnten in der aktuelle Version nicht drauf zugreifen.Der LIeferant sollte sich wirklich einmal überlegen wie er solch empfindliche Hardware versendet.

Ho dato 2 stelle alla valutazione complessiva solo per la puntualità di consegna del prodotto il quale: E’ arrivato in una busta di carta, Avvolto dalla solita plastica con le bolle, Vibrazioni elevatissime durante il suo funzionamento (il case esterno pur avendo i piedini in gomma vibrava tantissimo), elevato rumore durante il suo funzionamento, Calore eccessivo dopo 10 minuti di funzionamento. Chiaramente è stato ridato. Un piccolo ma significativo dettaglio: Il disco quando è stato collegato veniva riconosciuto come un disco INTENSO e non come un disco WD.

Took time to install as I had to reformat the drive and make sure it was actually registering as a drive. However- works well now and was generally easy to install ( you will need a SATA cable to install this as it’s not included.)

fa il suo lavoro senza problemi. riconosciuto immediatamente dal PC (con w10 ti viene indicato le modifiche di impostazione per poterlo formattare e riconoscere). buona la velocità di scrittura (con usb3 siamo quasi a 200 mb/secondo). per adesso tutto ok. comprato per cambiare un disco in un nas a 4 dischi ed utilizzato per archiare filmati. naturalmente non è silenziosissimo ma rispetto alla serie green di wd si percepisce un po’ meno.

He comprado dos y la única pega es el empaquetado del envío, es muy básico, una capa fina de burbujas y la caja de cartón. Podrían dar unas vueltas más de burbujas.Sobre los discos duros, nuevos, una transferencia de 230MB/s estable. Algo menos de ruido de los antiguos que tenia.

Cuando llegó todo bien, no hacia ningun ruido, era mas rapido que los otros discos que tengo, vino con la capacidad correcta, pero despues de un tiempo empezó a apagarse y prenderse constantemente, hasta tal punto de igualar las veces encendido que un disco duro que tengo hace 6 años en menos de un mes y en un punto Windows me informó que estaba dañado, asi que procedí a solucionarlo con la herramienta de Windows y me dejó el disco con 0 bytes de almacenamiento, en otras palabras, ya no funcionaba, no me dejaba formatearlo, guardar nada, hacer alguna prueba, nada, pedí reembolso y todo correcto por esa parte, pero el disco me desepcionó, no se si fue un fallo de fabrica, pero solo le instalé juegos

Il prodotto è conforme alla descrizione ed è un buon hard disk per lo stoccaggio di una grossa quantità di dati. Non va assolutamente bene come disco di sistema per Windows, dato il regime a 5.400 rpm, ma di questi tempi è uno dei rari modelli di disco ad alta capacità con tecnologia tradizionale (non SSD ancora reperibili a un prezzo relativamente accettabile.Unico neo: imballo minimalista, ovvero due grosse buste pluriball, ma sufficiente, visto che è arrivato funzionante. Dato il costo penso si sarebbe potuto spendere qualche centesimo in più per una imbottitura a base anche di polistirolo.

Dead on arrival – the packaging was not damaged and the condition of the product was mint.But the disk inside was not spinning and the diagnosis showed that the dive did not respond to operational requests.This was maybe caused by drops or shocks during transport.

I used this WD hard drive to replace old failing 1.5TB HD in Samsung Story external hard drive enclosure. It worked just fine and it is registered as 2TB drive. The only regret I should’ve bought 4TB drive. I was not sure if Samsung soft will let use only 1.5TB or actual HD capacity.

I can say that it was worth it cause I have almost every game I own on one hard drive, one draw back is depending on how you format the disk you’ll lose a certain amount of storage. die WD40EZ >>AZ<< benutzt leider das SMR-Verfahren. “RZ” wäre eine ohne SMR.Als Backup oder allgemeiner gesagt bei wenigen Schreibvorgängen und vielen Lesezugriffen und vorzugsweise großen Dateien ist das ok. Aber wen viele kleine Dateien in größeren Mengen regelmäßig geschrieben werden merkt man den Geschwindigkeitsverlust (auch wenn der Cache das eine Weile kaschiert, wenn er voll ist, sinkt die Datenrate beim Schreiben drastisch). Z.B. wie ich als Entwickler beim Übersetzen mittelgroßer Projekte. Das Problem ist für mich nicht, dass SMR verwendet wird, sondern dass man nicht verlässlich sagen kann ob amn eine SMR platte vor sich hat. Die Buchstaben sind nämlich nicht wirklich dokumentiert, sondern ergeben sich aus der Erfahrung/Berichten von Anwendern.

These are not Retail drive kits but OEM bare drives. This is not disclosed anywhere on the product page at the time of my purchase. The significant differences are that these come with no cables, connectors, screws, or the software listed in the drive description on the product page. Additionally Western Digital often refuses to honor warranties on OEM drives sold to and installed by end consumers because they do not include instructions or cables for the installation and are intended for computer manufacturers and service centers.

Compré uno y tenía problemas porque se desconectaba continuamente y hacía ruidos muy raros. Lo devolví y me enviaron otro. La devolución fue bien y el otro me lo envió el vendedor muy rápido, pero le pasa exactamente lo mismo al segundo disco duro. Tengo otros discos WD azules de 4 TB más antiguos y siguen estando perfectos. Yo no puedo confiar en guardar archivos de trabajo en un disco duro con problemas. Decepcionante porque estoy encantado con mis discos duros anteriores y este ha supuesto una pérdida de tiempo.

I purchased two of these “New” WD blue 4 TB drives for archival storage purposes. One of them had clearly been used as a boot drive. The system files and two partitions were still present. Someone deleted the data off this drive, threw it in a box and sold it as “New” without even taking the time to format the drive. The other drive arrived DOA. I’m not likely to buy these again, but if you do, double check and make sure you are actually getting what you paid for.

Drive work worked fine until after one year I head click, click, click. Now the drive is completely dead and every time the computer turns on I can hear it try to spin for a few minutes. This is the first HDD I’ve ever had fail, even those that I’ve had for a decade have not failed like this one.

For basic storage of small files it’s all you need. And at that price point it’s a steal. Transfers easily up to 175-400MB/s depending on read or write, and does exactly what it’s intended to. Don’t use this for triple A gaming though. I’d suggest any 500gb m2 ssd for roughly $30 more, over this.

These are the Toyota Tundra of hard drives. Reliable, sturdy, and they are the standard, but they aren’t the flashiest thing. They don’t have pretty LED’s or fancy labels. It’s just a rock solid drive that pretty much everyone uses. Western Digital / HGST & Toshiba are the best drives imo. Sandisk is great for flash drives, Seagate is awful. Avoid those.

For the price it is really good,i’m just using it to store my games catalogue,it can get a little loud when transfering large files,but i dont use it very often.If you are getting this for use as your primary device,just be aware that it will get loud as you will be constantly transferring data.But if your on a budget this is a good choice.

When it arrived, it was making clicking sounds when i installed it but it worked fine for about 20 days, then my computer started crashing every 15 minutes and the hard drive also was taking a lot of time to load and madeclicking sounds. after 30 days it got worse and as I removed the hdd , the computer started working fine. Really disappointed with the product, Help me out to claim the warranty

Great for storage, speeds are very slow.Great if you need to store big files that you touch rarely, you know – old picturesvideos.Definitely should not be used as a main drive if you are doing anything that requires high read or write speeds.

These blue series drives are very good value for large storage space with less frequent activity (backups, archives, reference) and they work for Linux. You should consider red plus or black or SSD drives for NAS or highly active file systems where SMR could cause dissatisfaction. I know that SMR was not introduced well by WD and others, yet it is now clearly specified on the manufacturer’s product briefs and discussed on forums. I did have a problem with one 6TB blue SMR last year and it was replaced OK by WD under warranty. As a bonus, I recently added an 8TB blue, assuming it would be SMR, and found it is actually CMR as confirmed by the spec sheet.

Mi aspettavo forse un po’ più di silenzio da parte di questo hard disk che però nelle operazioni di lettura ma più in particolare di scrittura risulta forse un po’ troppo rumoroso, niente che possa davvero infastidire sia chiaro ma sicuramente mi sarei aspettato un pelo di attenzione in più a riguardo.Per quanto riguarda il prezzo lo considero decisamente onesto in rapporto al mercato attuale e alla dimensione dell’HDD stesso anche se però si presenterà con circa solo 3.65TB liberi.

Comme il ne s’agit ni d’une option performance (WD Black ou Gold), ni d’une option pour l’usage intense (WD Red ou Gold), le prix est excellent vis-à-vis la capacité. Je n’utiliserais pas ce disque pour des données très solicitées ni pour une utilisation demandant le meilleur temps de réponse possible pour un disque mécanique. Cependant, comme stockage de masse pour mes collections de musique, vidéos, photos, rendus 3D et autres, c’est vraiment parfait.

Ich kann die negativen Rezensionen nicht nachvollziehen. Bei mir in Stoff verpackt und verschweisst. Nutze Sie in einer NAS. Ich habe an die 15 WD Platten und alle laufen wie am ersten Tag. Kommt natürlich immer drauf an wie man mit den Platten umgeht. Magnetische Felder in Lautsprechern machen auch oft Probleme bei Externen Platten hatte ich auch schonmal. Diese Platte läuft an Tagen manchmal an die 20 Stunden bis jetzt keine Probleme.Schreiben mit 90mbit auf die NAS. 1000mbit Leitung.Könnt ihr kaufen.Ich hoffe meine Bewertung war nützlich für Ihre Kaufentscheidung.

I don’t know what to say. I ran a smart test on the drive and all but three categories showed old age and the other three showed pre-fail. I reread the listing and no where does it say that it’s a new drive nor does it say it’s used but from the readings I got from the test, it sure isn’t new. Will never buy another WD product.

Bei dem Preis (81 €) habe ich mich gefreut 4 TB Platte zu kaufen meine bisherigen Erfahrungen mit WD waren durchweg positiv.Beim Einrichten der Festplatte wurden nur 2TB Volumen angezeigt. Platte wieder ausgebaut und eingestanzte Seiennummer recherschiert siehe da ist nur eine 2 TB Platte .Aufkleber ist für 4 TB wie in der Abbildung.Geht zurück ist sehr enttäuschend.

Easy to install, it’s a hard drive, duh… Zero issues. I had to buy a SATA cables (btw SATA I or II or III makes no difference, they are backward compatible). I found out my motherboard supported only SATA I, which is not an issue with this SATA III drive , data transfer will downgraded to the speed the motherboard controller can support.

i got this for less than 4500 bucks which is really a good buy. this is a very fast HDD with 7200 rpm. this is as fast as they get.i have my windows installed on SSD and bought this as secondary and this is a good option for keeping data safe. But this is a very fast drive managed to transfer 200 Gb of data mostly photos and vids to this from another drive in less than 80 mins.don’t know about long term but this much storage at this price no one should miss!!

Sono più di 10 anni che utilizzo prodotti Western Digital, in particolare la linea Blue che è dedicata ai PC fissi e all-in-one. I am not happy with this products, I purchased this in December of 2021 and used it just to store photos from my iPhone on my computer. In September it started to make a weird noise and stopped working. I contacted the company and they said they would replace it but if I wanted my photos I would have to send it out to a third party and pay to get my photos recovered.

I really do not know how to rate this drive. I do not have the tools to test it; see if it meets its specifications. I can tell you that it works much better than the failing drive that it replaced. It was easy to install. I cannot hear it. The drive it replaced only lasted 2.5 years. I hope this one does better. That is a difficulty. I do not know how long it will function. I could “promise” to update this review in 5 or 10 years, but we both know that is not likely to happen. Besides, in 5 – or 10 years this drive will probably not be available.

WDは最近よく買うのですが3TB・4TB・6TBとかいつの間にかSMRになってたり、出荷時期でCMRに変わっていたりと混乱を誘発しそうで嫌なんですが。しかしこの8TBはCMRだと分かっているのでなんとか長持ちしそうです。（以前のSMR（3TBとか）は2年程度で壊れていた。）8TBは2台目だけどそれまで使っているものは壊れていなかったので今回もこの8TBを購入。（値段の関係で今回はアマゾンではなくここで）SMRの場合ちょっと特殊な事をするとデータがおかしくなったような気がしないでもないのでCMRは信用の第一歩。SMRが増えない事を願ってます。

It runs 18 degrees cooler than the disk drive that it replaced. I measured the difference with an IR thermometer.

Lo que más me ha gustado es que es el modelo que gira a 7200 RPM, aunque en la descripción aparezca 5400 RPM. Por ahora estoy muy contento con su rendimiento, y la fiabilidad de la gama blue de WD está más que contrastada.

The size is nice, but it is the loudest hard drive I have ever had. So loud I can barely hear my stereo. It started out only being loud when I booted the computer, but now it’s all the time. It’s probably a bad drive. Will attempt to return, but it has been more than 6 months now.

Decades ago, when I first started building my own PCs, I started by using Seagate drives. But they were always slow, unreliable and noisy. So I switched to Western Digital and I was so impressed that I stayed with them every since building dozens of PCs for myself, friends and organisations. Never had a dud. However, recently I did buy a 4TB Seagate drive thinking that after nearly 30 years they must have got their act together by now? Nope, nothing had changed! So here I am once again, back with Western Digital…

l’hard disk non puo’ essere utilizzato in tutti i pc e il venditore non lo ha scritto nella descrizione. l’ho dovuto rimandare indietro a mie spese e il venditore dopo 15 giorni mi ha rimborsato solo l’80% c irca del costo, cioe’ 67 euro invece che 84. ci ho perso 26 euro. vi rendete conto? tra l’altro per avere il rimborso ho dovuto chiedere sollecito perché si dimenticavano pure di farmelo.

J’utilise ce disque dur comme stockage externe du système Channel Master (utilisant une antenne pour la réception et l’enregistrement des émissions de télé) depuis que j’ai arrêté mon abonnement à Vidétron et Bell (Channel Master et Tablo sont parmi les meilleurs appareils et un “must” pour les “cord cutters”). Comme je veux enregistrer parfois deux canaux simultanément, ça prend un disque dur rapide à 7200 rpm pour ne pas avoir des coupures intermittentes (saccades) du flux d’images (j’ai déjà essayé sans succès des disques durs tournant à 5400 rpm). Celui-ci fonctionne parfaitement comme ont remarqué d’autres acheteurs. Je le recommande aussi.

Came in a plain brown box with no protective packaging, instructions, or sata cable. After installation, the drive made noises indicative of a motor/head failure.

My boyfriend put this in the computer that he’s building and it didn’t work. Went to Best Buy and bought one there. That one worked fine. We returned this one.

This is, far and away, the loudest HDD I have owned in 20 years, not an exaggeration. Generally when drives are making this amount of clicking and scratching noises they are about to die. I’m told this is ‘normal’ for this drive but the last time I owned a HDD this loud was quite literally 20 years ago. It is *constantly* clicking and chattering even when the drive is idle.I’ve owned half a dozen HDDs since 2002 and nothing even has come close to this noise wise. My understanding is this is a ‘feature’ not a bug on the WD Blue drives. Unless you want to hear constant clickety-clack this may be one to skip.EDIT- Gave it 1 extra star because— I should note that this drive is VERY fast for a 5600RPM HDD. If you don’t mind extremely loud noise you are not going to beat the speed of this drive. It is so fast I actually thought maybe something was wrong w/ the tool I used. I attached a screenshot here.

Die 4TB WD Blue Festplatte ist für Gaming und dergleichen mehr als ausreichend, mit einer lesegeschwindigkeit an die 300MB/s das ist schon erstaunlich.Und die 5400upm sind nur relevant, wenn man schnell viel auf die Platte kriegen will und keine 5 min zum warten hat, ausgelesen werden die daten doppelt so schnell, wie sie geschrieben werden.Nur vor dem Start einmal die Platte unter den festplattenpartitionen erstellen, damit Windows diese erkennt und fertig ises (muss nicht bei allen Platten so sein).Ich nutze diese Festplatte extern als Speichererweiterung für meine Spiele, da meine internen Festplatten voll sind und bin begeistert, die Ladezeiten sind mega schnell und auch das rüberziehen von Daten ging flott, ich kann diese Festplatte nur empfehlen und verstehe die ganzen schlechten Bewertungen nicht.Für die großen Datenmengen, die ein Spiel heute hat, haben die Platten mega viel Platz und ich habe sie für 68€ bekommen, ein schnappe also.Ich hoffe meine Rezension konnte helfen

Classico disco meccanico Sata3 che al giorno d’oggi verrà usato principalmente per l’archiviazione di grosse quantità di dati , per sistemi NAS o di backup , e in tal senso svolge egragiamente il suo compito e lo fà anche ad un prezzo piu che onesto ! Per chi invece ha un pc non recente e intende utilizzarlo come disco di sistema , è una scelta valida e affidabile ma non può certo competere coi rivali da 10000rpm e oltre . Utilizzato in sistemi RAID viene riconosciuto perfettamente da praticamente tutti i controller sul mercato e secondo me è proprio il suo uso migliore !

Dies ist mittlerweile meine vierte WD-HDD. Mich überzeugt vor allem die Fehlerresistenz. Klar, dafür bezahlt man auch ein paar Euronen mehr, hat aber nach meiner achtjährigen Erfahrung mit WD-HDDs keinerlei Scherereien mit fehlerhaften Sektoren. Und wer seine Daten sicher wissen will, braucht diesbezüglich so eine Qualitätsstufe. Im Gegensatz dazu hatte ich in den letzten 5 Jahren schon zwei Toshiba-HDDs, die auf Grund dieses Mangels für mich unbrauchbar wurden.Kurzum, mit diesem Produkt kann man im Desktop-Bereich nichts falsch machen. Für andere Anforderungen (z.B. NAS) gibt es noch die Produkte der Red- & Blackserie.

When it arrived, it was making clicking sounds when i installed it but it worked fine for about 20 days, then my computer started crashing every 15 minutes and the hard drive also was taking a lot of time to load and madeclicking sounds. after 30 days it got worse and as I removed the hdd , the computer started working fine. Really disappointed with the product, Help me out to claim the warranty.

The disk will not write directly to SMR for large sequential transfers. It instead goes through CMR first causing massive reduction in speed from 200MB/s to 30MB/s. Only buy if speed is not needed. Heck I don’t even trust to record on it.

This is a good and reliable (based on past experience with the model) drive, which is suitable to be used as a secondary storage – namely not the boot drive which contains the OS, applications, and documents. For this purpose an SSD will be more suitable, and will significantly improve the usage experience. This drive is good for backup and archive use cases.Update: Just found out that this model WD40EZAZ is an SMR drive. “SMR” abbreviation means “Shingled Magnetic Recording” – without going into details it is suitable for drives with a lot of read requests – not write requests which depending on the scenario can be rather slow. Would I buy these had I known that these are SMR drives? Not sure but this information should have been laid out upfront.

Mi serviva per un upgrade del pc dato che l’hdd già presente (sempre western digital) era pieno. Il modello che vi arriva (WD20EZBX) è un 7200rpm. Arrivato in orario e in perfette condizioni, imballo fatto bene (hdd ben protetto, con la sua busta insieme a quella di dissecante). Per il momento sono soddisfatto quindi lo consiglio!

Voilà maintenant le 2eme disque que j’achète en plusieurs années. Je trouve quand même bien plus “sûr” que ceux vendu légèrement moins cher par la marque concurrente. Malheureusement, pour un budget très serré, quelques euros peuvent faire la différence, mais j’opte toujours pour WD. A voir dans le temps, si celui-ci dur autant qu’un autre WD que j’ai depuis des années.
