Speed is ok, but it depends on the hardware we use.
Light weight, plug and play with windows, no problems shown in this startup period. The claimed transfer speed in reading and writing is 120 Mbps. The actual speed of file transfer varis between 1 to 102 Mbps as per my experience when used with Windows11 on hp pavillion, i7, intel, 12 th gen, 1Tb solid state drive, via usb3.0. Expected more speed of transfer. Also, I am not knowing why it is said that Li ion battery is used in this external hdd!!

So, I own Seagate Backup Plus (rebranded as One Touch now) 2TB, 5TB, and Expansion 5TB (recently bought). You get roughly 110Mbps writing, and 130Mbps reading speeds respectively for large video files. For photos and documents, speed might vary between 60-80Mbps which is decent. All the drives are formatted in NTFS for Windows compatibility. Out of the box, all are in EXFAT for macOS compatibility.Price: 5099 INR for 2TB Backup Plus (in November 2020)8699 INR for 5TB Backup Plus (in January 2022)8998 INR for 5TB Expansion (in May 2023)I got 3y warranty for all 3 once registered on the Seagate portal.Now, coming to the issue I faced. The internal temps can hit up to 55C while copying large chunks of data in summer in West Bengal. In the northern plains, even more. The ideal working temperature range of any HDD is 21-50C. So, you clearly see the issue now.To avoid the HDDs from burning themselves down, I’ve plastic wrapped them, and use wet (in water of course 🙂 handkerchiefs as cooling solution. Plastic wraps protect the internals from moisture (hopefully) and keep the temps down (in a respectable 40-44C range).

HDD is formatted with exFAT File system.Works seamlessly on windows.For MAC, HDD will not be detected when plugged in.Found a way to make it work for MAC:1. Once HDD is plugged in, it won’t be detected.2. Keep it plugged in and Sign out of your user3. Sign in again and it should be auto detected.A bit of hassle but worth it if you want to make it work on both MAC and windows

So far so good!
It’s read and write speed is quite acceptable. It’s compitable with my laptop and smart TV. I have noticed that with my new laptop which has ssd, the transfer speeds are lower (around 20MB/s) than the old one with hdd. With that one the transfer speed goes as high as 100 MB/s. Now it’ll be worth noting how it performs in long term usage.

The only is con is I noticed is I got 931GB storage out of 1TB. Rest everything is good.The transfer speed I’m getting is constantly above 125+ Mbps even in the case of large files like 7-10 GB.And the read speed I got is 135-137 Mbps in case of a 105GB file.I’m happy with the product.

October_2020, Just got this delivered.The label on the package says this one is manufactured in September 2020, so I’m hoping there won’t be any issues. working fine but surprisingly it’s much hefty than the older “Seagate backup plus”.Built quality doesn’t feel good cause this one is made of cheap plastic (you gonna need a cover for this) Bought this cause this was the least ugly external hard drive available currently and trust me the design suck compared to the older one?

Using it for my iPad Air 4 (2020)
The media could not be loaded.
First hour review (Just unpacked it) : I ordered this HDD around 2 am and got it around 1 pm so the delivery was hasty and I must say I liked it. This is very light weight (<180gms). I just tried this Seagate expansion 1 TB hard disk drive on my iPad Air 4 (2020) which has USB type C port and I used a Samsung OTG to connect it to the iPad because the HDD comes with USB A 3.0 and it’s working fine. I also have a USB C Hub and tried the HDD with it and its working great with the Hub too. The read/write speed was around 40-50 MBPS. I’m not an expert or experienced with HDDs as this is my first one. Also, it says that it is pre-formatted for Windows and Mac so I’ll use it in this format for now as I can move files from other Windows devices too. After knowing about the formats maybe I’ll format it according to my need.

The device is very compact and lightweight. However, there is a considerable amount of flex on the chassis on one side of the hard disk which makes it feel kinda delicate and cheap. I chose this over the WD Elements 2 TB HDD as this was a newer model but WD has a much better build quality.

The hard drive is good. I have been using it for a while now. I prefer to not use it all the time once in a month to make data backups. All you have to worry is about the USB ports. I recently bought 5tb external hdd, all things good, but only one thing bothers me that the usable memory is very low, you will be able to get only 4.5 tb instead of 5 tb as promised. Don’t understand why 500+gb is missing. You should have consumed memory but that should be limited within 200 gb which is enough.Other then that, it is a good product.
