Despite getting this in May, I`ve only been using it a couple of weeks due to work delays; I`ve has Seagate external drives before – first thing I noticed with this one was how flimsy and plastic the external housing of the unit felt – not as reassuring as my previous drives or those from other companies.So far, the drive is working fine; it is a plug-and-play unit, comes with a warranty, works with my Windows PC and does the job as expected.Okay for the asking price – I trust it will continue with no problems.

Purchased 1.5 TB in Nov 202. Exactly after 1 yeat… Boom… Gone… When it is connected to USB port, blue light appears. But no sound of motor from the harddisk. No movements at all. Computer shows a USB device connected. But nothing appears in my computer. No drive is displayed anywhere. Cant eject the drive even though it is showing as a USB device in task bar. Screwed…

I trust this brand ” Seagate “. But it is a bit pricey compared to WD and TOSHIBA. I bought this in great Indian sale and for the same price Toshiba was giving 1.5 TB which is VFM if you have less budget and want more storage. But I choose this bcoz of superior brand and my trust on this brand and better read write speed than TOSHIBA.

I have purchased Seagate Expansion portable 2TB External Hard Disk for my backup options and literally I have never seen such a lightweight and small device for storage in my whole life. I am amazed to see that this little thing got so much potential as the read and write speeds are around 130-132 MB/s and it runs on 5400 RPM. It is very easy to carry as it is lightweight and comes with 3 years of warranty as well as 3 years of data recovery features. I didn’t encounter any issue with it and the experience of data transfer is smooth. I always trust seagate though others brands are also available like Kingston, WD etc. But my heart always goes for seagate.Conclusion : Just go for it because no other product is good as compare to seagate and the value for money ratio is pretty good to me.

one of the harddisk 2TB delivered (out of 14 total) was defective and they are not even giving any replacement or return and ask us to instead visit a nearby brand shop.its better to buy from nearby shops as we can atleast be sure that product ll work.

Lleva dentro un Barracuda ST5000LM000 (SMR) de 5400rpm. Ultimamente los fabricantes usan la grabación SMR para incrementar la capacidad de los discos sin encarecerlos pero a costa de reducir su rendimiento en ciertas circunstancias. Aún así un disco de 2.5 de 5TB es lo nunca visto, una capacidad terrible en un disco pequeñito y de muy poco consumo eléctrico. He estado copiando varios TB durante unas horas y ha mantenido bastante bien la velocidad a unos 100MB/s. Muy silencioso, aunque se calienta un poco pero nada de lo que preocuparse. Es un disco para copias de seguridad diferenciales así que no me importa que sea SMR, dado que las actualizaciones de las copias solo escriben los ficheros nuevos que varías de copia en copia y por tanto el volumen de escrituras es pequeño cada vez, y el disco puede con ello sin bajar la velocidad. Los discos SMR tienen una tarea “de fondo” que reescribe/reorganiza los datos cuando el disco está inactivo para que no se le llene el área de caché CMR. Si no se usan grandes volúmenes de datos ni te enteras de la reducción de rendimiento. No se recomienda este disco si por ejemplo vas a escribir 5 TB cada vez para llevarlos de un sitio a otro porque sería mucho más lento que un disco CMR, pero para copias incrementales de datos estáticos o como almacén multimedia es perfecto. Yo extraje el disco que es un SATA3 de 2.5 de 15mm de altura para ponerlo en una carcasa un poco mejor USB-C o para usarlo con un conector SATA en cualquier otro lugar. Me encanta este pequeño disco, es como una unidad de 3.5 pero “encogida”. Vamos, un disco que parece un juguete pero que no lo es. Además a un precio increible de 110€ en mayo de 2022. Recomendado.

I got this order on time no issues with that. I couldn’t copy a single file to this HDD. It’s not getting detected or formatted even in windows or even by any other third party software. It’s faulty that is for sure. Because I used or tried it on 3 laptops and 2 desktop computers. Not five gadgets can lie.

I have been using WD hard drives for many years now, however after getting this drive I would really recommend it to everyone. Usability is easy and Registering for the warranty is step by step detailed. The product came with good packaging as well. My previous seagate hard disk didn’t work, but not sure why. This does and is tried on Mac system only.

what’s written in the site was not true when opened, particularly the manufacturing details. In the site, it was written “country of origin: thailand”, but after opening the package it turned out to be “country of origin: china”. Since, i opened the package a bit later and by that time i had crossed the return date, i was not able to return. so, skeptic about the originality of the product.

Talking about the product itself when I received it and connected it for the first time to my laptop and transferred a file as I was just checking the transfeer speed it gives me around 30- 32 Mbps average and also it suddenly drops to around 8 Mbps Sometimes it reaches to 0.Firstly i thought that happens because of my laptop processor but then when I connected it to the pc with resting it on the backside that’s logo side down it transfer speed instantly increases upto 120-132 Mbps which is more than what product company claims ( That is 120 Mbps) i don’t know how it happens but I am happy with that.

Dopo aver provato altre marche di HD, non ottime per il Mac, provo Seagate. Mi arriva già configurato ex-fat. Già perfetto così, non serve formattarlo. Lo trovo efficiente, veloce nel trasferimento dati e non mi ha dato nessun problema (riscontrati invece su altri marchi). Direi perfetto per il Mac, immagino anche per il PC, che in genere è più compatibile.

I thought Segate harddrive was good harddrive for storage initially, but now I completely feel that this hardrive is seriously the worst. since I was using it from past 2 years I lost all my data. So I sent to recover, I thought data might recover since it was sent to Ireland. but unfortunately they said data cannot be recoverd instead they sent me a warranty replace hardrive. To see the hardrive was new but backside of hardrive it was written Recertified i didn’t bothered, I used it for some months later once again same issue it got stopped and there was no warranty for that drive, once again I lost all my data. Finally I lost all hope and i don’t trust Segate anymore. Better not to buy if you care for the data. 🙁

The device is very compact and lightweight. However, there is a considerable amount of flex on the chassis on one side of the hard disk which makes it feel kinda delicate and cheap. I chose this over the WD Elements 2 TB HDD as this was a newer model but WD has a much better build quality.

It’s read and write speed is quite acceptable. It’s compitable with my laptop and smart TV. I have noticed that with my new laptop which has ssd, the transfer speeds are lower (around 20MB/s) than the old one with hdd. With that one the transfer speed goes as high as 100 MB/s. Now it’ll be worth noting how it performs in long term usage.

It is my first external HDD and it is absolutely lightweight. Copying a 100GB folder with more than 10,000 items took about one hour from the MacBook Air M1. At first I was a bit sceptical if I should go with portable SSD drive or with portable hard drive but the speeds are just wow I didn’t regret my decision of choosing this over portable SSD.

It gets HOT ? its showing 62°, Seagate Expansion 4TB External HDD – 6.35 cm(2.5 Inch) USB 3.0.Overall storage capacity 3.63TB ( some remaining storage goes in EFI System Partition).Read and Write speeds are average (expected from this class of HDD).Build Quality is average (Not that great) There is no ventilation grills on the body when the HDD really gets HOT.Yes sure the HDD does the job of storing and backing up files, should not be treated as your only primary backup HDD ( Have another HDD as well as a 3rd backup). Don’t expect it to run for Gaming or heavy use.The Cable connector quality is Average (so always have a spare one handy and as backup), But I guess that’s with most of these companies (saying with experience of using 8 HDD’s over a span on 15-16 yrs).JUST USE THIS AS A BACKUP DISK !

Light weight, plug and play with windows, no problems shown in this startup period. The claimed transfer speed in reading and writing is 120 Mbps. The actual speed of file transfer varis between 1 to 102 Mbps as per my experience when used with Windows11 on hp pavillion, i7, intel, 12 th gen, 1Tb solid state drive, via usb3.0. Expected more speed of transfer. Also, I am not knowing why it is said that Li ion battery is used in this external hdd!!

Mine one has stopped working after few weeks and now they are asking to send the drive to a foreign country with a condition that when they return you might have to pay the customs and imports tax imposed by the Indian govt

This is my 3rd Seagate portable hard drive purchase, not because the others have failed but because I trust them.This was bought to expand the wife’s Xbox memory and works faultlessly, as does the one I use on my Xbox. The 3rd is for storing photos, videos and files etc…If you need a hardrive get a Seagate, not a cheap one, they don’t work.

I like the fact that Seagate is perhaps the only manufacturer still selling SATA interface external drives. These are great for shucking and also connecting to laptop or desktop anytime. WD and toshiba make integrated Usb 3.0 mini interface which is pretty much stuck as external drive foreever. Like this drive. Decent speeds and well worth it for the purpose which is long term data storage. The USB 3.0 adaptor used inside is of low quality though, this is where perhaps seagate should improve and their hdds will be best.

October_2020, Just got this delivered.The label on the package says this one is manufactured in September 2020, so I’m hoping there won’t be any issues. working fine but surprisingly it’s much hefty than the older “Seagate backup plus”.Built quality doesn’t feel good cause this one is made of cheap plastic (you gonna need a cover for this) Bought this cause this was the least ugly external hard drive available currently and trust me the design suck compared to the older one?

I bought Seagate Expansion 1.5TB External HDD – 2.5 Inch USB 3.0 (STKM1500400). Price was low because of offer (₹3799/-), understandably costly than Toshiba Canvio Ready/Basic 1TB (₹3399/- Faster than this model, I own one) and equal to WD 1.5TB (₹3799/- slower than this model) while I was planning to buy.I use Ubuntu 20.04 (Linux) I tested this on the same day I received. Transferring Few files, between 10-20 medium MB sized or 40-100 small kb sized files, will be fast 23+ MBps. After looking at those speeds I tried to copy mixed files (80GB – 40,000+ files) from PC to External. I consistently got 5-5.5 MBps speeds and it took hours to finish. I regret copying and buying this right now. if we copy 5 to 10 GB data it is giving 5 to 8.8 MBps Speeds. I have 2TB Toshiba and 1TB Sony Externals too which were bought 5+ years back, But they are giving me better speeds than this.As I need Extra space Right now, I have no choice. I will keep this and use it only to store less used data. And I will make sure to never copy a lot of content at once. Only Under 10GB at once.

First hour review (Just unpacked it) : I ordered this HDD around 2 am and got it around 1 pm so the delivery was hasty and I must say I liked it. This is very light weight (<180gms). I just tried this Seagate expansion 1 TB hard disk drive on my iPad Air 4 (2020) which has USB type C port and I used a Samsung OTG to connect it to the iPad because the HDD comes with USB A 3.0 and it’s working fine. I also have a USB C Hub and tried the HDD with it and its working great with the Hub too. The read/write speed was around 40-50 MBPS. I’m not an expert or experienced with HDDs as this is my first one. Also, it says that it is pre-formatted for Windows and Mac so I’ll use it in this format for now as I can move files from other Windows devices too. After knowing about the formats maybe I’ll format it according to my need.

I received a fresh drive, and had no issues when tested with SeaTools in Short DST, Short Generic and Long Generic test. all testing took over 7 hours after which drive was ready to use. I received 3 years warranty from Seagate when registered on their website. Drive data transfer speeds are reaching max of my USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports (Attached image) for large files without any drop in after cache runs out in large file transfer.

This is the new model that got released on 9th July 2021. Nobody else has uploaded any pictures of this product as of now. So I took a few pictures and I’m uploading them.The texture of the Hard disk is really nice and grippy and it looks modern as well. I had to format it once before using for mac using the ‘disk utility’ application. The write speeds are about 150mbps which is very good. The usable storage is 1.5 TB. I would definetly recommend this hard drive over others. Go for it !

Thankfully the little box is not sealed, so you can also easily pry open the lid to remove the 2.5″ disk and (after removing some tape and screws) use it as an internal disk in, say, a laptop. What is left behind can then be converted into a USB drive for another 2.5″ disk.

I had baught this device to back up my data which was done successfully but when the device was connected the next time i.e the second day of purchase it started asking me to format the device and thus I lost my 100GB of data they say that they provide one time recovery but when they provide you it the software it rarely detects any lost data. The other option is to send the device to them fornwhich the tat is 60days and with no assurity that the data will be recovered and if not you’ll have to pay for the shipping charges to get the device back… Also when I tried recovering fro third party app i.e.Recuva all the data was visible and could be recovered but was chargeable my question here is why is segates software so dumb that it couldn’t even detect the lost data. I regret choosing this device..

I have been using this product for a week now and, it’s an amazing product. It is durable and surprisingly very lightweight (159 grams), even lighter than my phone which is 192 grams. Transfer speed is very fast, earlier I used to transfer in my 64GB Pendrive which has a max transfer speed of 24MBps and this hard disk has 121MBps which is amazing. The design is OK but I am not a great fan of this design.

After rarely using it for 5 Months here is my honest review:1. The first problem you will encounter is with its connecting usb. It will eventually get loose and bring connection errors.2. WARNING FOR GAMERS: You won’t be able to play games from this HDD, it will hang the whole computer.3. In the first few weeks, the transfer speed would be around 130-140 mb/s and then will drop down to 90 mb/s. You’ll see.. when you buy4. It’s fragile than a thin glass.5. Heats up very quickly6. Big files Transfer failures7. Overall a bad purchaseShame on Seagate.

This product is really nice and it provide a space of 1.3Tb for storage which for me is enough and it’s really super fast and works just fine, and I am writing this after using it for a month and I transferred a heck lot of data to see it’s performance and it works just fine. Go for it.

I loved this. I trusted segate without a second thought and trust me I didn’t regret it. It’s portable, and lighter than what I thought. Honestly it’s lighter than my iPhone but that’s because it’s plastic built.

My hard disk stopped working after few months of usage. It was within warranty period so I contacted seagate support for data recovery. They presented very bad terms and conditions such as I would have to pay for the ups delivery and custom duty charges after it has been fixed at their tech centre in Amsterdam. After negotiating, they agreed to waive off charges as it was within free warranty. The hard disk got fixed at their tech centre but I have not received it yet as noone has paid for it, and they called me multiple times confirming if I would not pay. And now they are not responding. I have yet not gotten my hard disk after over two months of my first contact with seagate support.Case Number: 11834732

It’s read and write speed is quite acceptable. It’s compitable with my laptop and smart TV. I have noticed that with my new laptop which has ssd, the transfer speeds are lower (around 20MB/s) than the old one with hdd. With that one the transfer speed goes as high as 100 MB/s. Now it’ll be worth noting how it performs in long term usage.

The USB cable was slightly undone and suddenly the laptop could not sense the drive! Then I had to go through a lot of google search and finally was able to mount it in “read only” mode. I had to run around to get a spare hard drive to copy the data, reformat this drive and copy back again. It took me more than a week which was a huge waste of time. I wish I hadn’t wasted my money on this. Now I have to keep using it with uncertainty in my mind all the time not knowing when the problem will repeat again!
