My organization has plenty of new laptops, but no new monitors so I’m constantly running into issues with no way to connect VGA to the devices that only have HDMI ports. Bought a bunch of these and they did exactly what I needed. Affordable solution that made my users happy that they can now have dual screens!

Needed this to plug in older monitors into my new laptop. It only has an hdmi port, which is understandable, but my workplace doesn’t have new hdmi monitors yet, so this will do for now. Yay for adaptors!
Dave –
Not what I was expecting for specific connection point, my mistake. Using a different connection port on computer still worked amazing.
amanda marshall –
Did not work. I believe it is my monitor that is not compatible. I ordered a new monitor and will try out in a few weeks. Order did not arrive at the time it gave me, came several days later. I assume this is because of covid.
Megan Beam –
I had initially bought a HDMI to HDMI cord for my work laptop to connect to my monitor, but it frequently disconnected. I ended up returning it and purchasing this to convert the VGA head to HDMI. Works great! There is a slight quality degradation, but that doesn’t both me much given the price of the product and the purpose it’s used. If you are looking for a 1:1 quality transfer, you may have to spend a bit more to achieve that objective.
Richard C Schoeneck –
The cable worked as advertised. I had a very frustrating experience trying to get it to work with my work laptop, but it wasn’t the adapters fault. I couldn’t change the display properties, they seemed locked down. I searched many recommended solutions only to discover that the laptop had a built in graphics adapter and the graphics vendor (intel) had its own application for managing displays (not using the windows systems settings. I found the Intel Graphics application in the sys tray. Once I found this everything worked as expected and saved me from having to go buy a new second monitor with HDMI input.

If you have a need to connect an HDMI source to a VGA input, you cannot do it with a simple cable with the correct connectors at each end.You need an adapter like this one. Why?Because inside the oversize VGA end of this adapter is a D/A (digital to analog) converter. VGA is an analog signal, HDMI is digital …and never the twain shall meet. You must convert the digital HDMI signal to an analog VGA signal to make the connection work. A simple patch cable will not work. This adapter works only one way: digital to analog conversion; HDMI to VGA. There are like adapters for going the other way: HDMI to VGA; make sure you buy the right one.Overall this is a nice adapter that’s well made and works as it should. It doesn’t transmit audio signals that may be incorporated in the HDMI signal. VGA doesn’t carry audio and you’ll need to use an appropriate patchcord (analog stereo or digital toslink or coax cables) to pass audio directly from the HDMI device to the VGA device. This adapter’s D/A converter receives it’s power via the HDMI connection …if the device the HDMI end is plugged into provides power. Some do, some don’t. If you hook up this adapter and do everything correctly (to include selecting the correct source input), and get no video signal, then there’s a good chance the HDMI device does not provide power for the D/A converter. In which case you will need to score a powered version of this adapter. In the end, the is the right way to connect a digital HDMI signal to an analog VGA device.

This work perfect with my HMDI end on pc and MAC to projector screen in church.

Locally this same item is almost ten dollars more. Picture quality is good and sound quality has not diminished when swapping to this brand. It is ideal for someone who has an older model monitor and wants to use it with their newer model computer.
Andy Alper –
I have an old monitor that only has an old VGA plug. I received a new laptop from work that only has an HDMI (female) connection. I bought this item with hopes that I would now be able to connect the monitor. It works very well. I also have an older laptop for personal use that has both HDMI and VGA connections. Instead of using the VGA connector on this older laptap, I found that the HDMI connection makes the signal going to the monitor more stable. The colors no flicker if the connection is not perfect. Therefore, I leave this Moread HDMI to VGA connector on the monitor VGA plug (and used the screws to fasten it), and I now can switch readily from one laptop to the other by plugging and unplugging the HDMI connector. I have had the product several months and am very happy with it.

I’ve seen numerous reviews on here from real bad to real good. To put my 2 cents in, this product worked for my purpose (event). Used it to connect with my Dell Latitude to an older bulb-type projector with no issue for a 6 hour period.

Works great

I am very impressed with this adapter. I was very hesitant as it was a brand that I am not familiar with. However, the price and value was something that I was willing to give a go. The quality on the screen is acceptable. I have not had a bad experience and it has been working flawlessly. I needed this in a pinch as I am teleworking due to COVID. I needed to convert VGA to HDMI as my laptop did not support VGA. I needed to have two screens and this adapter is working fine. If you are on the fence, give it a shot. it has worked great so far.
Arty –
Allowed me to use the HDMI port with a vga monitor. Replaced a USB hub with vga port. Screw holes keep the vga cable from separating from the adapter
Russ P –
I got this adapter for my wife’s Dell XPS 15 laptop to connect an older ViewSonic monitor (that has only VGA adapter) to her laptop’s HDMI port. This order was to replace a VicTsing HDMI to VGA Adapter that failed after 15 months of use. The Moread HDMI to VGA adapter works as expected for Dell laptop to ViewSonic monitor connection. An advantage of the Moread adapter is the VGA cable screws into the adapter so that the connection is secure, unlike the VicTsing adapter which doesn’t screw in and was always a bit loose and would occasionally come apart from the VGA cable.Just for fun, I tried the Moread adapter to connect the same ViewSonic monitor above to a Sabrent Thunderbolt 3 to Dual HDMI 2.0 Adapter that I use with my Dell XPS 13 laptop to connect to two external monitors. Unfortunately, the Moread adapter did not work in that scenario. No big deal for me since I don’t plan to use the Moread adapter and ViewSonic monitor in that setup, but FYI.

I use spread sheets on 2 screens alot. I got a new laptop and this solved my connection problem without buying a new monitor.

I got this device as my old VGA-equipped laptop died, leaving a stranded CRT. Reading some other reviews, it appears that faulty models are sometimes sent out, but I got lucky with a good build.Low Resolution:I immediately tested out 640×480 at 60Hz. Works perfectly, as does 640×240 at 120Hz. Though it does appear that lower resolutions than that are not transmitted if they are ever needed.High Resolution:Unfortunately, all resolutions with a 960 image height and above seem to have a sort of fuzziness/noise that appears like over-sharpening of the image. In addition, there’s the obvious refresh rate constraint at 60Hz for 1080p images. The final verdict is that it’s a good cheap option if your needs fit within this window. However, if you wish for high quality higher resolution images, it’s best to look elsewhere.

Time marches on and I find myself with a PC and a raspberry pi that both have hdmi outputs, sat next to an lcd monitor that only has 1xDVI and 1xVGA input. Ah, I thought, I can get an hdmi->vga adapter, have both devices connected and be able to switch between them with a press of a button. No, that would be too easy. The vga adapter hides what’s attached to it, so the computer can’t detect the display properties and decides to play it safe with a “Generic PnP Monitor”. RISCOS on the pi is refusing to change to the native 1680×1050 resolution of the monitor. I can get close, but if I set it exactly I lose the signal. Windows is actually worse. It says it’s the right resolution, but the upscaled image on the monitor says otherwise, and we’ve lost significant chunks of the left, right and bottom edges of the desktop. Attempting to change the resolution just produces variations of the same problem. These could be all software/configuration related issues. The adapter is technically doing what it’s supposed to do – hdmi one end, vga on the other, picture on screen – but it certainly isn’t the simple solution I was hoping for. It will do for the short term, but eventually I’ll have to upgrade the monitor for something with more DVI or HDMI inputs.

The adapter worked fine. Connected it to a new PC running Windows 10 and to an old monitor’s VGA port as a second monitor. Came up immediately with no issues.
Paul Chimzar –
Did the job. Picture quality was excellent
KatMan –
Needed this to use an old VGA monitor… plug and play worked instantly.Remember when you had to drive all over town or go to Radio Shack and buy 5 things to hook together and pray that it might work? So easy to find exactly what you need now. Great price too.
HotSauceZee –
This thing does what you would expect. Don’t overthink it too much. I use it to connect an older monitor to my PC as a second monitor. My GPU doesn’t have any VGA outs so this was necessary. I see the picture on the monitor so it worked fine. Nothing screwy with the screen quality or picture quality. It’s still up and running as I wrote this review several months later.
Ray Cummins –
This is exactly what I was looking for. A great price and an even better product.
Franklin –
It does what it does
TKH78 –
It’s the right part and works well. I am using it at this very moment as I work from my in-laws. The fit was a bit tight at first between the hdmi port on my computer and the hdmi part of the adapter. But it eventually went in without any problem. The vga part secures great with the screws. You’d never know the difference from a direct vga connection (which port this computer does not have because it’s newer and lighter than my old one which does). I prefer hdmi anyway because you can get flat cords. Vga is so bulky. Anyway, nice part and does its job. Can’t ask for more.
Nancy Llompart –
It was affordable, I would definitely order another one if needed.

With everyone working and taking classes from home now. Great price for any home office. A basic plug and play allows you to use multiple devices or screens at once
C Brwn –
It works well. It didn’t work with one monitor but it did for the other. No issues.
MSJ –
Nothing to complain about. Nothing much to add. I purchased this as a temporary fix until I got a new setup with HDMI. It did exactly what it said it would do and you can’t ask for much more for the price.
Niren –
Monitor only has VGA input. Computer has HDMI port. Easy peasy. Beautiful quality and sound over monitor speakers.

This item acts as it should, shows good picture and quality great tool to help a person multitask computer work

In needed to connect my laptop to an old monitor I had so I could work from home. It has worked perfectly in the beginning. Very happy. Good optics. Now 1 year later it doesn’t work at all. I guess I should have expected that could happen, however it is uber inconvenient!! and I did hope I could get longer out of it.
Jeff –
The media could not be loaded.
This is a great quality webcam for the price. Quick and easy plug and play installation. Packaged very well. Great quality video and audio (see attached pictures and video) works perfectly for virtual meetings and conference calls. I would definitely recommend this product!
Maria Howard –
I just received this yesterday but it did exactly what it needed to do and that is what I care about. It is sturdy and seems to be very well designed.
Michael Anderson –
Adapts an HDMI port on a computer to an older VGA cable so I can still use my KVM switch with my monitor. It would be nice if computer manufacturers didn’t keep requiring us to upgrade perfectly usable older tech. I’ll bet putting a VGA port on the laptop would have run them all of an extra $1.
Brian-B –
Working from home these days like many people. The Acer monitor i had purchased earlier in the year has one HDMI input and one VGA input. Using this adapter I can now connect both my personal desktop and my work laptop to this same screen using the two connections offered on the monitor. Obviously only one PC can be on at a time, but that works in my case and I don’t have to keep swapping wires. The picture is great, no issues at all with the image. Do note that since this goes down to VGA, a separate audio cable is needed for sound. I would buy this again if I needed another one.
Bulldog –
Using this for a computer build I did for the elderly who do not want to get a new monitor. This works great to connect to the hdmi port on the motherboard and the vga on the monitor.

These adapters don’t have a usb power input that is often required for complete compatibility. It worked to some degree, but the monitor would fail to wake properly and other small issues because it didn’t have enough power.Get an adapter with a usb-b or usb-c power connector for complete compatibility

Didnt work for what i wanted, but it was perfect for other devices!
June Gable –
Needed to use an additional monitor but my laptop only have HDMI connection. This cord worked perfect. The only issue was the sound. I just had to make an adjustment to the laptop for that and all was good.
JT –
its exactly what you get. Price was right, come very quickly. I would buy it again if I needed a second one.
ARJ –
This adapter does a good job converting an HDMI signal to VGA. The connection is easy, and everything did what was described. I am very happy using this.
Cam Brown –
Used for Raspberry Pi. It’s strange. You must unplug this from the VGA EACH time you power off the Pi or the monitor will not read a signal. You cannot just unplug the HDMI. This adaptor has to unplug from the VGA.
VaVet96 –
Brand new computer has no VGA port. Not surprising but I’ve got a nice, but very old second monitor that only has VGA input. This little device saved the day. Took a reboot for Windows 10 to connect to the monitor properly but it’s been great since then.
Terry –
Just plug it in & voila, it works. The seller emailed before it arrived with tips and to let me know how to contact them if there were any problems. I wish all sellers did that, especially with electronic products. Had no problems-item works as advertised.
Jonathan Wexler –
works fine; reasonably priced, allows me to use existing (old) monitor with new computer
K.I.R. –
Loved the product, my keyboard died on my laptop and i was tired of using a wireless, I had a 32 inch monitor sitting around doing nothing so I purchased the adapter and wham, no fumbling around, and I.m back to work but on a much larger scale, Sometimes something as simple as this product can make a big difference.loved it, will buy more products from them.If i could give more stars I give them 2 more.
KBE –
Item as described…fast shipping and a good price
Michael P. Mcgriff –
Works as described, hooked up my original monitor to my new Dell Tower.
The Wizard –
I’ve been using 2 of these for several years. One of the these two has become unreliable and I have replaced it with the same product. So I can’t vouch for durability, but otherwise it’s an easy, inexpensive way to continue using an old monitor.
Alex –
Failed me after 6 months use
Chris Brown –
I love it when some that is said to be plug and play actually is. I needed to run my decades old projector from a new computer that didn’t match the projector’s VGA connector. It wasso simple: unpacked the Moread adapter plugged it onto the cable and connected the computer and projector. And it worked right out of the box with no fiddling around. I will always look for Moread products as I hate wasting time on simple things. Plus Moread put a note in the package with their support email address — not needed!
MrLarry0001 –
Like so many people nation wide and around the world, my wife is working from home. Her company sent her home with her laptop, but she uses 2 monitors in her office. I had an older monitor and she had a newer laptop. The laptop is HDMI output and the older monitor is VGA input. This inexpensive item fixes that problem. I plugged it in to the laptop/monitor and she was up and running. The picture quality was great! I was concerned that it wouldn’t be. I’m quite pleased with this.
Karina M Bednarek –
Works great for my laptop to smart board converter. However no sound. I have to use the usb to get sound. And if your thinking to use it with ipad you will get no sound.
davesh –
Really liked the quality and ease of use
Sam Taylor –
Seconds to install. Works great. No issues. Was able to convert hdmi from raspberry pi to older vga monitor for some retro gaming. Thanks.
Bob L. –
The adapter works flawlessly, however, I receive a continued monitor message to re-adjust the settings every time the laptop goes to sleep or is powered on. I then realized I need to order the HDMI>DVI adapter instead of HDMI>VGA, but had zero issues with the picture quality or laptop picking up the monitor using this adapter so wanted to rate it accordingly. Not sure if this message would occur for all monitors being used when converting from digital to analog so rated with 4 stars.

I have an older projector which has a VGA input, but no HDMI. My new laptop doesn’t have VGA output, so I needed to convert from HDMI to VGA. I was somewhat skeptical about how well this was going to work, but I decided to try it. The picture quality is excellent! I haven’t been doing any presentations since I bought this due to covid, but it appears to be well made, so I would definitely recommend it.
Toni Jankovic –
great product for the price
Andrew Werner –
Outstanding. For just a few bucks, my old but perfectly good monitor lives to serve on.

I brought this adapter for my kids chrome book to monitor connection. We are happy with the performance and didn’t notice any issues yet. Thank you.
Joe R –
The adapter connected my HP Zbook’s HDMI port to a VGA monitor without problem. Note however, the VGA monitor is not used for graphics; only for spreadsheets and such. Therefore I cannot comment on the quality of high def graphics or games.
Yellow Jacket ’84 –
Plugged it in, adjusted the refresh rate and viola.
Nasima –
Moread is nice brand. Earlier i bought one HDMI to VGA adapter, it worked flawless. Just plug and play. When I need second HDMI to VGA adapter, my choice was Moread. Working fine. Economical and nice quality product. No problem after one year of use.
Mohammad –
So far it works great, was able to quickly get my laptop screen to extend to a monitor. But keep in mind this is my first day using it, I’ll update the review if it doesn’t last long. Other than that, I like the fact that it’s a small nice looking gadget, not something that looks outdated with extra long wires.
Jennifer Tataryn –
Purchased this for my Aver at school. I needed to be able to project on the projector from my work laptop. this came quickly, and works just like needed!
Good pool wanted –
I have a workstation that has two monitors and when I set up a new tower it only had one VGA and one HDMI. I did not have an HDMI monitor so I needed an adapter. I was not sure that my graphics card would support it but I plugged both VGA monitors in using the adapter and the other VGA port and it worked like a champ! Both monitors are working great and we have had no issues. This was an easy fix and well worth the money for an adapter vs buying and replacing the graphics card/buying new computer/buying new monitor, etc.
Ani –
Worked great at the beginning but after a month did not work at all. Image quality and screen quality is good.
Dave Greenspan –
I needed this adapter to run a monitor off my laptop. The price was right and it works. The monitor screen is not quite as sharp as it could be that’s why I rated it 4 stars, but for what I am using it for it is fine!
Marcy –
After I received the HDMI to VGA adapter I purchased I attached it on my HP laptop to my HP monitor and realized I had no sound. I wrote to customer service and within hours they politely got back to me with a solution and it worked. They said:1. Right-click on sound volume icon in the lower right corner of Windows. A context menu will pop up.2. Select “Open Sound Settings”.3. In the settings menu, look to the top-entry that reads, choose your output device. Use the drop-down menu to make sure that your correct device is selected, whether that’s your speakers or a connected set of headphones.I replied that it worked and thanked them and their follow up email stated that it’s their Top Priority that I am completely satisfied. This is the kind of company I want to give my business to and would highly recommend.

I have had this product for a bit over a year now and it has worked wonders. I have not had an issue with this adapter and it gives clear quality and it is very inexpensive. Keep in mind this is just an adapter so it is not super lengthy, but it serves its purpose. I am super happy with my product.
Crystian Gaeta –
So far this product is working wonderfully. there is absolutely no delay what so ever, and the picture quality is sharp. I am able to work on photoshop using a separate computer monitor which gives me much better colors and deeper blacks than the screen that my laptop has, so this is definitely a necessity.
JKretsch –

I had an old HDTV that the HDMI port was broken because family can be careless with things. And it has a VGA port I thought I could use. So I risked buying this and I’m glad I did. I now have 2 1080 displays, one being my main monitor, and my TV as the second. Originally for about several years I’ve had 1 1080p monitor and 1 1600p (1600×900) that was on it’s way out.
Sharon –
Screen quality is great. I use it for work to do presentations. I love it.
SuziQ –
Works as expected
ToastDog –
There’s not much to say about this product. It works how you’d expect it to work. I use it at home to connect a Raspberry Pi to an older monitor. It came damaged, but it was clearly from the mail carrier – Just some superficial damage. The adapter still works great. Using it daily.
jdobbs –
I’d been using a different (more expensive) converter — and a friend told me about this one. So I thought I’d risk the $ and see if it was really better. Damned if he wasn’t right. A great product.
Mary, Reviewer’s Diary –
My work computer and docking station were changed and unfortunately so did the adapter for my second screen. The new docking station didn’t have a 15 pin old style port for my second screen (VGA?). You can see I’m no expert, but I looked at the old blue port and matched this adapter to that port (it’s even color-coded blue). I was pretty sure I was sunk until I found this adapter. It has a nice tight fit and I was able to connect this adapter and plug into an HDMI port. Everything works great now, and I now have two screens thanks to this adapter. I’ll try to upload a picture soon.
J.Antonio –
So this is my first time buying one of these adapters: I just needed something simple to connect my console to a 5 year old monitor. Sadly, it couldn’t do its one job: the screen would turn black at random points for 1-10 seconds, making it impossible for me to engage in anything without constant interruptions. After several testing, suspecting that the fault could be on my hardware, cables, etc, I was able to confirm that indeed the adapter was faulty. Great first experience :/It’s a shame, as the colors, definition, etc, were good when it worked but sadly it’s unusable as it arrived. Customer service was great though, providing a replacement, and immediate refund when they couldn’t give me a replacement due to living outside the US, so no complaints on that regard.I was debating whether or not to purchase another adapter from them that would hopefully work, but why should I test my luck again? I will be buying a different one, hopefully that one won’t let me down.In short, you may be testing your luck purchasing one of these, based on my experience.
mom –
This works perfectly. The only thing I didnt think about was that my old monitor doesnt have audio, so when I first plugged it in, it seemed as though my audio was broken. Just go into audio settings and choose your computer’s internal speakers.

This was a great, cheap solution to get my old LCD monitor working with the HDMI port on my GT710 GPU for my PC. Only problem I had is that the GVA cable does not thread into the adapter. The threads on the adapter are too large. Not a big deal though.
FAE –
It works very well!

As a traveling IT technician, you don’t always have the luxury have a desired display connection. It’s definitely nice to have some sort of adapter for such a situation. I have an HDMI connection on my laptop, however the other end isn’t always what I want. This is definitely great Gadget to have when you’re traveling.
Noel –
I’ve had this for a few months now and it works just fine. I often need to connect to ports in buildings with older interfaces that only have VGA so this comes in real handy. The quality isn’t the best, it feels a bit plasticy, but for around ten bucks it’s as good as you can get. The picture quality is decent quality and audio works too for me. If a VGA to HDMI is what you’re looking for on a budget this is your go to.
Hongqing –
Hdmi to vga is very useful.
C. Williams –
This works exactly as advertised. Easy to connect. Now I can use my old VGA monitors as add ons and with my cable box if I want to. Highly recommend.
Timmayyy –
Needed to do a convoluted connection for a laptop with HDMI to a monitor with DVI-I. Had to use the HP cable with VGA to DVI-I, along with this adapter, but hey, the video works fine!
Consumer –
works fine however a bit of a problem that the cord is so short
DocVenture –
Needed to convert VGA to HDMI, and this did the trick, it’s small and convenient, and great quality.I would buy it again!
Secret Agent –
I didn’t have to buy a new monitor! This adapter is definitely worth the price.Connected VGA monitor to HDMI output of new motherboard. Looks great. If you did buy a new monitor you could keep the old one as a spare.in “rate features” above, aren’t screen quality and picture quality the same thing?I don’t know what “sheerness” means relative to a computer monitor.
Daniel Ashton –
if it is the adapter you need, then it works
Kevin Alvey –
Connected HP Laptop with HDMI slot to old Dell 1905FP monitor via the VGA connection. Initially the picture was squished to 4:3 despite both monitor and desktop reading that they were pushing 1280×1024 video. Eventually noticed that the video card was pushing 59Hz instead of 60Hz. Updated the refresh rate on the computer and now everything looks and works great.

I’m sure the product would have been perfect, but we lost it brand new 😭 as we were moving stuff. I didn’t get to use it once, and now I need it. I was wondering if the company could offer a replacement? It could even be used! Thank you 🙂

It is a functioning HDMI to VGA conversion. It allows me to use an older computer monitor with a newer computer. It works. Doesn’t seem to be highly robust. I guess time will tell how durable it is.

Just what you need to hookup a newish laptop w/ HTML extension port for video/audio connection to older VGA cable monitor. Installation was relatively easy as long as you perfectly align VGA pins with socket and use a screwdriver. If your older monitor does not have speakers, you may have to set speaker switch to allow output only to speaker (otherwise you won’t hear a thing). Enjoy multi-screen viewing.

Did not work with an older vga AOC brand, nor did it work with an ACER vga monitor on a NEW Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R14K Slim Laptop | 15.6″ Full HD IPS .It finally worked on an older Samsung Syncmaster e1920. Thank goodness i have kept these old monitors.

For those who still deal with old-school technology, this adapter is a must. Works as advertised. Nice, snug fit on both ends!

I was able to extend my laptop screen so I can use Zoom plus work on my desktop at the same time without having to switch back and forth.

This was a great buy. I purchased a new computer that did not have a VGA port to connect my monitor. I was searching for a new monitor and suddenly had a thought that perhaps there was a way to connect HDMI to VGA port and found thisPrice was right and I don’t need to purchase a new monitor with HDMI connectivity
Victor Lopez –
The item looks exactly as the one in the add, it arrived on time and in good condition as expected.Easy to install, no need to download or install drivers, just plug and playIt allows 1920×1080 max resolution, which is ok for my application and screen.Picture quality is good, so is the refresh rate. I’m not watching HD or 4K videos, so I can’t comment on those, I am not playing video games, so I can’t comment on those either.

Bought to use on a HTPC setup that has a 1050 2GB video card but the spare monitor I use is an old HP 17″ VGA only input. It does the job fine. I get some odd latency issues at times but I honestly don’t know if its the card or the adapter. And since I really don’t use the monitor other than just for doing general maintenance it really does not matter to me. I just needed something that my VGA monitor could connect to my video card.

I needed my HDMI converted to AUX so I could use a cheapo display monitor and this converter did it’s job. It had little screw things on it that makes it so it’ll never fall out. It’s not very long but most aux cords want to compete with undersea internet cables so it’s fine.No display issues noticed. It’s a very utilitarian piece of equipment.

Still going, works ok

I was able to use with an older Dell monitor saved me from having to buy a monitor use with a newer laptop. This is the VGA HDMI connection. Price worth it compared to the $29.00 asking price at local Best B_y!

was easy to connect my Computer Monitor to my Laptop Acer Nitro 5. The price was accurate for what it is used for thinking about buying another one.

Needed to attach an older VGA-only monitor to my newer laptop with an HDMI output. After some research, I decided on the Moread device and couldn’t be happier. Works as advertised, well made, a great value! I highly recommend this product if you’re looking for a good, economical solution.
Belle –
Great product however, they need to do a better job with instructions regarding the display settings. I had to go in and adjust the refresh rate on the display. I love that I didn’t have to buy another monitor and potentially end up with another piece of electronic equipment in a landfill.
Anita Gatlin –
I liked the fact it worked to allow my computer to link with the projector that was necessary to present a program.

This adapter somehow tells my computer that audio is active, and then my computer insists on sending the audio out over the active hdmi port — but VGA doesn’t support audio…. so i cant watch the video on the monitor without sound…..

It worked correctly as expected to be able to frequently and correctly connect and use a monitor with a VGA connection on a PC that only had HDMI outputs. The images are seen correctly even in prolonged use.

I was a little reluctant purchasing this due to the low price point and history I’ve had with other video adapters. But, I was pleasantly surprised. Easily
BilltheNuke –
It sounded like the right thing, but it didn’t work. I tried to use it to hook up a new HP Mini to my VGA screen. The screen remained blank. I tried re-starting to no avail. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the adapter.. I tried to connect the new PC to a VGA screen I used with my other PC. Nothing! Just a blank, black screen. So, the fault was either with the adapter or with the new PC. I hooked the new PC to my digital TV using an HDMI cable and it worked fine. It wasn’t the PC.Because I needed the PC now, I purchased another HDMI-to-VGA adapter locally and it worked like a charm.I was about to return the adapter when I decided to try it on my wife’s MAC mini. It worked there. So, it would work with the MAC, but not with the PC, which is what I needed it for. I decided against returning it simple because of the hassle and the shipping costs.Update: After I wrote the review, Moread contacted me and refunded my purchase pricet without requiring that I return the malfunctioning adapter. The product didn’t work for me, but Moread really stood behind their product.

It works but the picture is a poor quality. No matter how I adjust the brightness or contrast it is still bad. I am not going to buy a new one or get different brand. I will just use this one until I done with class I am using it for. It is just a bit frustrating to be constantly messing with the color/ brightness.

I was substituting teaching for a friend at a local university and the room I was using had the old VGA connector. My current laptop and tablet were HDMI. This adapter saved the day. It worked very well and I am very pleased.

I needed to connect an old monitor to my laptop. The monitor was VGA, laptop was HDMI – bought this adapter and bam, it worked. Very happy with this adapter, works great and doesn’t give me any issues.

This adapter worked exactly as it was intended.
Will Terry –
I bought this so I could plug my Switch into my projector. It works, but every time I turn the system on I have to go into settings to change the resolution to 480p and then back to 720p. It did not work with my blu ray player and had sync issues, but since that is not the reason I bought it, I won’t take away too many points.
Jim –
The monitor display was initially small but was easily corrected by adjusting the computer video card settings (Intel Display Topology in my case). The video card app can usually be found on the right side of the taskbar.Adjust the video card NOT Windows or actual monitor settings.Glad I found this product instead of investing in a new docking station.
L.P. –
I can connect it to my TV. The cord is long enough to connect my laptop to a monitor. It is not look as good as the one I have at work. It it is good for the money.
Alvie E. Garcia –
Since I’m now working from home..I needed a 3rd monitor and for whatever reason the display port cable didn’t work monster what I did….so I ended up using the VGA cable and this adapter to connect the 3rd screen directly to my laptop screen. Worked like a charm.
Mirielle –
I got this exactly 4 years ago (well, off by a day) and it still works great. It never allowed me to have audio, which was a pain, so I actually came on here to see about getting one that would allow the audio to play. I checked the Questions for this one and someone recently explained that by going into the Settings, then Systems, then Sound then change to Computer’s Speakers, you can get the audio. I just did that and now, after 4 years, I have sound as well!! Has otherwise been a dependable device and I use it most everyday to provide an extra screen to my laptop.

Bought a new desktop for iracing and just using a old monitor and it only had vga, while the desktop only has hdmi. It seems to work well and pretty decent quality from an old monitor.
Philip J. Vogt –
Got a new laptop in the home office, but the dual monitor I had was VGA to VGA, and the laptop lacked a VGA in.This was a cheap, easy fix. VGA into monitor, other end into the VGA end of the adaptor, HDMI into the HMDI port on the laptop. Works great, with no noticeable degradation in picture quality. Fits snug, so no flickering images or weird color distortion.

I wanted to connect a second monitor to my laptop but I have an older Dell monitor that only has a VGA connection. My laptop only has an HDMI output so I bought this ‘adapter’ to convert the HDMI connection to my old VGA monitor cable. It worked like a charm and I now have my old Dell monitor as the second screen on my desk at home. Thanks!

Used it for a secondary monitor for months it worked but no display wouldn’t show…. even windows 10 couldn’t detected it for some reason

This a computer peripheral; something that does really mundane work and does it well. At work we use a shared table for collaboration and the projector on top is consistently used. This adapter allows people to switch between laptops quickly and without trouble. It has worked perfectly since day one and there is no issue with resolution or image problems. The adapter appears well made (as good as any similar item I’ve seen) and works with no fuss. For the price, it’s hard to beat.
Kara W. –

I had a old monitor which i wanted to connect to my PC but but it only had HDMI. So i looked up adapters and found this listing first. got it and overall it runs good, instantly recognized and worked with my older monitor. All i will say is the screen quality kinda flashes and has weird flickering in the display. Its likely my old monitors fault but my old monitor never had that artifacts. Either way overall decent.

Completely failed after 1 year of use. I have two VGA monitors and they both work when plugged into the VGA receptor but not with this adaptor. For a relatively simple plug/converter, it must be pretty low quality to fail after using it 2-3 days per week for 1 year.
George Andress –
Nice easy plug and play monitor adapter. Had to reboot twice for complete configuration. Works great!
Stefanie Helms –
VGA converter worked for a couple of months before it caused the picture on the monitor to appear as if the contrast was going out. I changed the VGA cord, but it still threw the colors off. I even tried two other monitors. Will have to try a different brand.
Stephanie Sarabia –
Works great! I use this for my work laptop since I work with dual monitors. It’s also great since I work from the office and home. Super easy to carry and connect/disconnect.

I’ve got several computers that I control with a KVM (keyboard, video and mouse) Switch. All my PCs have VGA and USB ports on their backsides. The KVM, unfortunately, has 7-pin DIN plugs for the keyboard and mouse and a VGA cable for video. I bought a bunch of adapters for them a while back and everything was fine. I just replaced the main machine with a more powerful, more modern PC and, you guessed kit, it had no VGA port. It did have an HDMI port, so this adapter was exactly what I needed to hook it into the switch. i just did, and it all works great! If you’re going to buy one of these, look closely at your current cabling and at the PC ports you want to connect them to. Once you are absolutely certain you’ve got the exact right adapter, put it in your “cart” and then sleep on it. The next day, check it all out, all over again. Being sure beats going through a return/exchange process :)This is a good quality product and everything fit together snugly.

I bought this when I began working from home in March, and found that my home computer monitor was old enough that it wouldn’t connect to my work laptop (HDMI vs. VGA adapter). I ordered this beauty and it arrived quickly, and I have used it 5 days a week since. It is fantastic! For the price, it is worth its weight in gold. Very pleased with my purchase.
Bob Trombone –
The HDMI to VGA adapter I recently purchased works perfectly (so far, anyway – I have had it just a few days). I have an older model monitor and older VGA cables. The adapter was needed in order to connect to my newer-model laptop so I could do spreadsheets at home. This product works exactly as advertised. It screws in, which I find to be a plus, and the adapter fits perfectly into my laptop. I had to figure out how to still be able to hear audio from my PC after it was hooked up (thank heavens for Control Panel), but that was not the fault of the adapter. Bottom line – Great item. Five stars!!!

Just a great design. The old one (different company) stuck out like a stick that put a lot of pressure on the receptacle on the back of my laptop, but this new one is much, much better and doesn’t stress the receptacle at all. Just what I needed!

Works great. I was having issues with connecting to an older tv through the hdmi from my laptop. Screen size/resolution wasn’t quite right. Got this to access through the vga again and everything is how I had it before.

If you need an HDMI to VGA adapter, this works perfectly. Don’t waste any more money going to Best Buy or somewhere else when this product will meet your needs. The gold plating allows for faster and smoother data transfer, which allows for better and more stable image quality. The product’s size makes it easy to store, whether in a draw or a pocket of a backpack.

I purchased this adapter so I could attach a laptop which only had HDMI output for video to a VGA monitor. I made the connection, turned laptop and monitor on and was able to watch the laptop boot and sign into windows. No setting changes, no setup. All worked perfectly. I highly recommend this adapter vs buying a new monitor.

I needed a quick and easy way to connect my ps3 to my computer monitor as I do not have a conventional TV. I saw this ad and purchased it, thinking it would be rather simple. After receiving the item I plugged everything in and got no signal or image out of my monitor; not even a “wake” signal to the monitor. However, if you seem to find yourself in a similar situation here’s what you do: 1) while the ps3 is turned off, press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps (one after the initial press and one after around 10 seconds) 2) release the power button and wait. The monitor will now wake up and you will see dialogue from the ps3 saying a HDMI input has been identified and wants to know if you would like to use it 3) select “yes”. At this point your monitor will go blank as if something has gone wrong. A message stating “frequency out of range” may pop up at this point from your monitor. 4) wait around 30 seconds and then you should see your ps3 menu pop up on the monitor as if like magic.NOTE: the image you will see is 480p. This is the best you will get using this method due to the digital to analog conversion and wonky backwards approach. Also, if your screen is 4:3, the ps3 won’t fill the entire screen in game due to the games running at 16:9, but this is normal for any monitor or screen of 4:3. I am definitely not saying to buy this for specific use for ps3, but it can be done if you find yourself in my position. Another note is that this is only for video. I bought the converter without the audio out because I use the ps3 component cable for sound. There is an option for this item with an audio out though when checking out.

VGA cable thumb screws will not secure the connection. I believe the thumb screws do not reach the inset points they screw into on this adapter. I’m not certain why. I had to secure the connection with nylon wire ties.

Great device. I picked up a projector a few years ago super cheap and it has VGA input only. I built a screen and used my laptop as a source but felt it was too limiting. I then purchased this device and set out to vary my sources. Happy to report that it works perfectly with my Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation) using the optical sound output to a $10 soundbar that I purchased from goodwill. Instant drive-in theater in my back yard.

Item is & does exactly what is needed to expand by viewable real estate. The screen has lost signal about 3 times, once during a webinar. Frustrating, but still better than what in place previously.

Connected up this device to a VGA monitor and all worked well. Since the type of work being done on extended monitor does not require video, all works well. Saved me from purchasing a new monitor. Found however, that the device would not connect to a dual VGA adapter/splitter and operate an ancillary TV monitor. Will be doing some experimentation later to ascertain problems.
Wayne –
I bought this to hookup my new all-in-one computer to a second screen. I have an HDMI in and out port so the screen, that has the 9 pin outlet, just hooked into the device and then it hooked into the computer. It worked almost immediately with no effort on my part.

This 15-pin (female) VGA-to-HDMI cable works readily when plugging into the old VGA monitor using 15-pin port cable and to the laptop HDMI port. The old monitor is now served as the second screen for the laptop. How long this adapter would last remains to be seen. But meanwhile it works as described.

I used this to connect my brand new Alienware M15 R4 to a second monitor that only has HDMI or VGA connections (I know, I need new monitors, one thing at a time). It seemed to work fine at first, then I started losing connection on one of the monitors if the screens shut off, one of them wouldn’t turn back on when I woke up the laptop. Then, it had me thinking there was something wrong with my laptop. My mouse would run extremely sluggishly or the computer would lock up completely forcing me to do a hard reboot. So, I removed this from my Alienware and plugged it into my work laptop. I won’t know until next week if it works better on that machine or not. If it doesn’t then it’ll get returned. If it does, then I’ll update my review.

It does work. Plug it in and you get access to a VGA screen. Only complaint is that it’s quite finicky on the HDMI side. I see the attached screen flash off and on again periodically. Sometimes it goes off and I have to remove the HDMI from the computer and plug it back in. As long as nothing moves, it can work for quite some time

Works perfectly. I have a unique situation where I need to drive an old school VGA LCD monitor using the latest Intel NUC mini computer. The NUC has Display Port and HDMI outputs and no VGA.When I purchased this I didn’t realize there are 3 sizes of HDMI connectors: Standard, Mini, and Micro. The NUC had a Mini HDMI connector, so I needed to buy another adapter (Standard HDMI to Mini HDMI) to make this adapter fit my computer/monitor dilemma.A lot of plugs and adapters after everything was finally connected, but the picture on the VGA monitor is clear with no noise or artifacts – and that’s what I really was looking for.

Ordered 4 for use converting laptop HDMI ports to VGA for a 4-port KVM I have. Only issue seems to be sometimes the display on the KVM’s monitor doesn’t fully fill out the screen, but I haven’t bothered to troubleshoot, as disconnecting and reconnecting the display cords usually resolves the issue.

I’m not sure why, but when I installed this unit my second monitor (that is not connected to this) stopped working and kept giving me a message that it did not support the timing. I was able to go in through my second monitor and adjust the settings. Other than that, it works great. Picture is clear and crisp.

I have an old VGA monitor that is 21” I wanted to use it as a secondary screen for my laptop. The laptop only has HDMI port so I used this device to convert HDMI to VGA. I originally thought the adapter was dead on arrival, but through the Moread customer service, which was responsive and helpful, I learned that the problem was on my end. I needed to set my Roku’s output to 720p in order for my older Optoma projector to display. The projector was not picking up a usable signal at all, but when I switched the Roku HDMI output to 720p, the adapter and projector displayed with no problems.

I bought this along with a Raspberry Pi 2B (which only has HDMI output), so that i could connect it to my LCD monitor that only has SVGA input. Unfortunately I did not read the description carefully enough, because it is not compatible with the Raspberry Pi – this device expects the HDMI port to provide it power, and the Raspberry Pi’s HDMI port doesn’t do that.So when I got the device, before I realized they were incompatible, I plugged it in and it worked just fine. Then later on I tried it again and the picture on the screen would start to drift horizontally and then eventually got so garbled that I couldn’t read it. That’s when I re-read the description of this thing and realized I got the wrong one. So then I went to a store and bought a different adapter (which allows you to power it by USB), but it didn’t work at all. So then I gave this one a 3rd try and it started working perfectly again. Since then I’ve been using it over a week straight with no problems whatsoever. I don’t know why it works when it shouldn’t, but I am very happy with it.

I like how it allows my monitor to plug into my computer. What you do is take the monitor plug and stick it into one end, and then stick the other end into your computer that didn’t have the outlet to fit the monitor plug. Now the monitor shows what’s on the computer!

Good adapter for a good price. Plug & play – works great.
Jeremy Lewis –
Honestly I wasn’t sure what to expect. Other items weren’t helpful in getting my second monitor hooked up but this was plug and play. It took seconds go hook up and the screen popped into life immediately. It was hard to tell from the pictures how large the item would be. However the cord is about 6 or 7 inches long and the adaptor itself is about the size of a Zippo lighter making it easy to conceal and work in with the rest of my cable management. It is very slightly warm to the touch, but not warm enough to worry about at all.
Scrops –
Product exactly as described; allowed for extending desktop to a spare monitor.Had to reset the primary audio source after plugging it in as the computer wanted to route all sound through the cable as an HDMI interface and there is no sound transport over VGA, but otherwise worked out of the box.
Kaitlyn –
Desperately needed this to hook up to a second monitor and ot works great. It is nice and secure with enough room to connect the 2 devices.
Becky –
This works really well. The only issue I have is that occasionally I will lose sound on my pc and have to unplug the adaptor to get it back.

It doesn’t work Duplicate screen. It’s work for second screen only.So i couldn’t take class for students.

I went on line to watch a video on how to use the HDMI connector/adapter to connect/add an additional old Dell screen to my existing desktop and main screen. It was so easy and worked perfectly. It gave me the option to extend my screen or use it to extended my desktop. Works great clear picture transfer
CBro –
Works great, which I mean to say it does exactly what it’s supposed to, and that is to add an HD monitor to connect to my laptop. It’s way better than the older one at my office which is acting goofy and not crystal clear. This unit is apparently well made, but what do I know? I’m not a computer geek but I appreciate when things work well the first time and appear to be well machined, etc. So there you have it from a self-confessed luddite.

This device worked fine as soon as we plugged it in. We then needed to disconnect the monitor temporarily, and removed the monitor cable from this device while it was still connected to the computer’s HDMI jack. When we plugged the monitor back in, the device stopped working properly. From then on, when the monitor was on, the image would turn on for about 1 second, then off for 2-3 seconds. On for 1, off for 2-3. Forever. It’s trash.****UPDATE****Well, I’m still not happy with the fact that the unit died, and the manufacturer confirmed that the unit doesn’t support ‘hot-swapping’; they recommend you turn off the computer and monitor before disconnecting. That said, I’ve raised my rating to reflect the fantastic, immediate customer support that Moread provided. They instantly offered to replace the product for me. When I told them I no longer needed it (I bought an HDMI monitor instead) and that I had thrown it away, they apologized again and refunded my money anyway. That’s a first-rate organization that cares about customer satisfaction — something very rare these days. Thanks, Moread.I will also say that, before the unit stopped working, the image was beautiful, and completely flicker-free. Had it not gotten damaged, I would’ve been very happy with the unit’s performance.

I needed to connect the 2nd screen in my office to my daughter’s Mac laptop for on line classes. The Mac would not configure the 2nd screen running hdmi to hdmi using the lightening port hub adapter…we tried for hours. And, no…nothing in any knowledge base worked…so it was time for a hardware option.I bought this cable to go from monitor VGA/VGA out to HDMI/HDMI in…and it worked no issues.I just needed to configure the monitor settings 1 &2 on the Mac then on board monitor settings a little on the monitor itself….easy.We now can basically doc / unlock between her Mac and my Windows laptops with ease using 1 HDMI and 1 USB connection (with active USB hub for all keyboard, mouse, ext camera etc.).
Tom –
Just know that your monitor needs to support some type of special input type for this to work with the switch game console. So -1 star. It’s confusing because this is supposed to be for old monitors. No older monitor can accept audio with this type of VGA input. Did not work for our acer monitors and the Switch gaming console. “Audio input not supported”. I’m leaving the 4 stars because it does work great for the tower PC though. No issues at all. Except, that’s not what I got it for though…

This device works wonderfully, chained in with my micro-HDMI to HDMI female adapter, and this device connected to that and to the VGA on my old LCD. It works, no hiccups at all with the product, no qualms whatsoever.

Bought this August 13, 2018This product lasted me over 2 years. It worked great and did what it was designed for. I would definitely recommend if for a starting set up. But if you’re looking for a longer lasting one then obviously buy one a bit more expensive. Sadly this started giving out by the screen losing connection and eventually it stopped working completely. I would buy it again but this time I’m going somewhere else to buy a longer lasting product.

The office that I sometimes work in has monitors with VGA cables, no HDMI This adapter allows my to use the monitor only a HDMI port. The only issue with this adapter is that it overrides my headphone jack on my laptop and I can’t listen to music on my headphones.
Carlye J. Lehnen –
Super simple to figure out. The connector holds both ends well. Very good quality for the money. Exactly what you need to connect a VGA monitor into a HDMI port on a laptop to add a screen while working from home.

I had to get my old work laptop replaced and the laptop they sent me did not have a VGA port. Purchased this to be able to use an older monitor that I had brought home with me before our office closed down. Plugged it into the adapter, plugged the adapter into the HDMI port on my docking block. Works perfectly!

I had an old Dell monitor (the rotating kind common in offices in the 00s) that I wanted to use with a newer PC so I could have Discord or a browser up on one screen and media/game on the other. The vid card didn’t have a VGA port, and the monitor didn’t have an HDMI port. This adapter did the trick. No screen issues (no lag or anything). Great for the price.

Product is good but this is not working with usb hub. I have a device hub with mix of USB ports and hdmi ports. When I connect to hdmi port in usb hub device and connect the usb hub device to my laptop I am not able to connect additional monitors. But when I use hdmi on the laptop directly I am able to connect successfully

It’s not to compact and it’s pretty good for $8 but the only thing it’s that it has a deficiency in how you can connect a hdmi to vga but not vga to hdmi

I purchased this adapter so I could connect a Raspberry PI 3B+ to a standard VGA display so I wouldn’t have to connect the Pi to a TV or my small 7″ display. Now I’m utilizing a 19″ monitor which is fantastic in comparison. I’m still currently fighting the Pi so my audio will come out through the on-board audio jack but this, I believe, is an issue with software and not this adapter. In hindsight, I wish I had ordered the version that has a 1/8″ audio jack on the adapter but sound is really only needed for videos and games. Not so much of an issue for most other stuff you would do in Linux. This is a great adapter for the price as evidenced by the large number of reviews.

Works plenty fine. I use an HP Omen Gaming Laptop from around 2015-16 which unfortunately doesn’t have a VGA port and I had an old Lenovo monitor (one of those monitors you’d expect to see in like a pre-2010’s office building or so. Luckily the adapter works well and appears durable enough to take bending and such. Of course, the monitor quality is only as good as your monitor itself but otherwise, the adapter works and allows me to connect an old monitor to my laptop so I can have more screen space. I haven’t tested the adapter on other devices such as consoles or projectors that rely on VGA connections so unfortunately, I can’t say anything on that end. All in all, it’s a functioning adapter and that’s probably what matters most.
Armando –
Picture was great but I didn’t have any sound. Then I remembered that VGA side is image only (HDMI side has sound). Basically you’ll need to have another way to carry audio from source to a speaker.

Excellent adapter! I had a presentation to make and the projector only had a VGA connection, but my laptop did not. I received this the day before the presentation and set it up. I needed to go to the display setting on my laptop and change the resolution so it would work. Once I changed that, it worked perfectly! I was excited to be able to connect my laptop to the projector in time for my presentation. Highly recommend!

Most modern laptops do not come with VGA ports. Even business class laptops have given up VGA. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of peripheral equipment which depend on the VGA input. A lot of LCD projectors in conference rooms and classrooms still depend on VGA. You need this adapter to connect your laptop’s HDMI output to the VGA input of the projector. This particular adapter works from the HDMI port of your device. The other end connects to the VGA cable of the projector. Because VGA does not carry audio, you will need to also connect an audio cable from the laptop to the speakers. In most cases, this will be done through the audio jack. Sony invented the mini-jack for the Walkman and it is now a part of almost every device on the market.Connect this device to your HDMI port and the VGA cable from the projector on the other end. You may need to restarts your laptop. That is all you need to do. Some laptops may require you to toggle one of the F-keys to send the video signal to the HDMI output. This is a recommended purchase for those who have modern laptops and still need to connect to a VGA device.

When I use this adaptor my monitor display starts to fluctuate. ( display comes & goes keeping a gap of about 4-5 seconds, sometimes it gets stable & again after 2-3 mins same issue repeats).Seems quality is not up to mark.

I bought a 2nd monitor and attempted to connect it to my HDMI out on my desktop computer. The cable included with the monitor was male to male, so it did not fit. Five minutes after I got this device out of the box, I had two monitors going. You do need a cable with it, so if you don’t have one, get the longer one for connecting from the monitor to the desktop box. Check both ends or you’ll have to reorder as I had to. This product was the 2nd try and it was perfect.
Vern Rudolph –
I fractured the screen on my laptop so this hooks me up to my monitor so I can still use the laptop. Seems to do a good job Transfers everything from the laptop screen to the monitor perfectly.
Susan101 –
Item worked as described. For those folks with a “newer” laptop and and “older” VGA monitor like me, read this. I purchased this adapter to go with an older VGA monitor so I didn’t have to buy a new one. My newer Lenovo Thinkpad Carbon X1 did not have a VGA slot hence this purchase. I need my monitor to act as a second screen to my laptop. After doing some research, I finally figured out how to do this. With some laptops, you cannot simply go to the Windows 10 display settings and detect the second monitor – it will not be detected. You have to go to your video card settings and the option to extend your display will be there. Hope this helps.

I bought this adapter to run an old VGA monitor off of a new nVidia graphics card as part of a three-monitor set-up. The video card has three different outputs; DP, HDMI, and DVI. It is able to use all three simultaneously if desired. This adapter was obviously for the HDMI port. I bought another brand of adapter for the DP port to compare quality. Admittedly not a very exciting experiment, but I’m happy because they both work as intended. Windows 10 correctly identified the ancient monitor through the passive analog adapter and is able to send it whatever resolution I ask. Frankly, I was surprised at how good it looked and how easily it all came together. I see no reason to pay more for an adapter such as this. It does the job. I had never heard of Moread before, but the reviews were good enough to give it a shot. I have not been disappointed. The flexible cable between the two ends allows me to put the computer box closer to a wall than if it was a solid one-piece unit. I didn’t want a 4-inch plastic lever sticking out the back of my computer, so I got this. So far, so good. Everything communicates correctly across this adapter.

I got this because a club that I’m involved with has a projector and I thought “Oh I can get this and play Smash Bros on the projector.” Granted this thing does work and we do get an image on the screen but I had to change the quality of the picture down to 480p in order to get the proper colors to appear. Granted this projector is an older model but this adaptor should work right out of the box which it did but with this bug. Once set to 480p, the picture was good but was a little bright again might be the fault of the projector. Also there is no sound when connecting since VGA doesn’t transmit sound through the cable so you would only get sound with a proper connector cord for the sound itself which some game consoles don’t have.I then hooked up my Xbox One to it and that I don’t think has a 480p setting so the picture will always be off.All in all, it does what it says but not without a flaw or two. I’d get it if you don’t mind a weird picture or can mess around and fix the picture so it looks right. I am not upset I spent $8 for this and I know I’ll get my moneys worth.

My wife has a new corporate Dell laptop that she uses with 2 screens, unfortunately the laptop only has 1 USB port and 1 HDMI port. We had to buy an adapter and the original died after 8 months. I am glad I found this one. especially because because it allows for the screwing of the serial connector for a more snug and secure connection. Bonus, it was also a lot cheaper and I was able to get it the next day

Original Review:This item worked well for about 4 weeks, allowing me to extend my laptop display to an older VGA monitor. However, it then started working intermittently, and now it doesn’t work at all. Before it stopped working, I noticed that the adapter felt unusually hot. Although I was pleased with the device for a few weeks, it should have lasted much longer than it did.UpdateI contacted the vendor and they shipped a new device, without requiring me to ship back the defective adapter. All is good now, and I applaud the company for taking quick action to resolve the issue.

The video aspect works but the colors changes. I use my monitors in conjunction with my laptop display. When I pick up my laptop and place it in my lap, my monitor changes grayish green instead of regular. You have to have it placed certain way or the picture won’t be normal. I have used this adapter with other VGA cords, new and old, and it does the same. I guess you get what you paid for!!!

My kid had a desktop computer, my old desktop computer. For the online classes, I bought a small laptop.I don’t want my kid get a personal and separate TV.So I decided to use the desktop monitor, still has very good quality, to use for bigger screen. The monitor has dual purpose, by using this adapter use for Nintendo game consoles, and with another adapter ( mini hdmi) for the new laptop.By this small adapter, i saved money, and it is good and easy to use. The price is right, and works fine.I don’t know about the quality if you are a professional gamer, but for amateur users and simple tasks it is good enough.

I received this adaptor and plugged it in and hooked it up to my projector. My computer recognized the projector and displayed the type of projector, but I was not getting any output signal to the projector so it would not display. I contacted the support staff at Morehead after trying everything I knew to do. They asked and I sent them screen shots of the display info, projector info, HDMI video settings saying it was all working well but everything we tried did not work. So they sent me a second adaptor to ensure it was not the adaptor. While they shipped 2nd adaptor I went to MS Windows and researched everything on the HDMI video card and settings. Got the 2nd adaptor in and same thing. What I eventually recognized is that even though computer recognized the projector type and model, the HDMI was not sending an output signal to the projector. I borrowed someone else’s computer and tried the Morehead adaptor and everything worked perfectly. Now I have to get the HDMI video card fixed. I can’t say enough about Morehead’s support team as they went above board in trying to help me get the problem fixed.

I purchased this HDMI to VGA Adapter for my laptop. It allows me to extend my laptop screen to my HP W2072a screen. However, when I connected the Adapter to my laptop and external screen for extended screen use, there was no sound. I lost audio features. I contacted the Moread Customer Service Team via email (support@moreadtech.com) and Ada almost immediately responded (it was 7:29 PM on a Sunday – SuperBowl Sunday). This is what she suggested: (1) Connect the adapter to your laptop; (2) Right-click on the sound volume icon in the lower right corner of Windows. A context menu will pop up; (3) Select “Open Sound Settings”; and (4) In the settings menu, look to the top-entry that reads, choose your output device. Use the drop-down menu to make sure that your correct device is selected, whether that’s your speakers or a connected set of headphones (it worked). Great product with Above & Beyond customer service!

This is a pretty straight forward device, and I am fairly familiar with PC gear. So, I was “bummed” when the adapter didn’t work when I attached the 2nd monitor to the PC. I reached out to the vendor with my disappointment and received an almost immediate reply. They recommended a couple of monitor settings that I hadn’t thought to check. I reset the refresh rate, and presto – 2nd monitor is alive! Really appreciate the support!

I’m sure it probably works great to convert HDMI to VGA, BUT, be aware that it does NOT convert VGA to HDMI. I didn’t read carefully enough and it doesn’t connect my computer’s VGA output to my HDTV input signal. So if you are like me, looking to connect your computer VGA to your HDTV HDMI, you will have to get a different adapter. Hopefully I’ll get to try this on something else eventually and be able to rate it’s capabilities. Delivery and packaging was good!

1st Review: Screen seems to be connected but no display on my second monitor. (Monitor works perfectly well with other connections)Update: Needed to fix display drivers, thanks to this adapter, 2 display drivers got installed, both running the display on 1 hardware (my second screen) resulting in black screen with a lot of fluctuation. I disabled one of the two drivers and now it works fine. (I guess, you never know about these things).Note: I am using a fairly old Dell D1920 LCD Monitor as my secondary, it might work perfectly for you if you’re using a modern screen. Main: Dell Inspiron 15.

I needed this to help me with an online course that I am taking. Before, I had to open one window, get info, close it, then open another window to do my work. It was time consuming and tedious. Having a second monitor to connect to my laptop has saved me a whole lot of time. Having multiple windows open will definitely make things move along a lot quicker. This product has made things much quicker and easier. I would definitely recommend this product.

I bought another one of theses to replace original that was put in service in 2014. 6 years trouble free! Great price. Replacement worked flawless! The same type of item purchased from Walmart failed to function at all and I thought I had a bad HDMI port on Laptop. Took a chance and purchased another here. Worked 1st time plugged it in! Laptop feeds 2 Projectors in House of Worship. I will be purchasing 2 more to have spares!

wanted to use this adapter to add a second monitor, but it did not work.the VGA feed from my computer works just fine with an older monitor. but when I insert this adapter to connect to a newer monitor, nothing. the newer monitor works using the computer’s HDMI as the input… not sure if the adapter is defective, or if the monitor doesn’t like the adapter. no way to know which, back to the drawing board…

My church has an older video display system. It takes a VGA output from a computer, runs it through a video distribution amp, which sends it to 4 different systems: two projectors, one monitor, and a recording system that then has two monitors on the back end. We replaced the computer with one that had only an HDMI output, and thus bought this. What a mess! Running the same resolution as before, I got 4 different “shapes” of screens on different displays. Obviously, some signal is getting corrupted that makes the projectors and monitors fail to scale properly. I was able to find only one resolution, a very low-rez one, that worked on all 4 devices. None of the settings on the projectors or monitors could fix it properly. A friend had a very similar HDMI-to-VGA converter, that looks almost exactly the same, cost about as much, but had no brand name on it. I replaced this Moread with that no-name one and most of my problems went away. I was able to return to my original resolution, and only one of the outputs had to be adjusted. Moread must have taken some kind of internal shortcut with this one. The resolutions that failed included 1024×768 and 1600×1200. 800×600 worked on all but one monitor, but that was too low-rez for me. I ran through one Sunday using 1280×720 but I didn’t like the looks of it. The replacement unit allowed me to go back to 1600×1200.

i just bought an ACER hdmi monitor and the hubs and i have been alternating… finally decided to get monitor from work and they sent me an acer brand, a little wider than the hd i just bought but with vga port. so decided to buy this adapter so can connect to laptop hdmi port. EASY PEAZY! just connect and plug in, set up as extended display and voila! honestly it looks just like our hdmi monitor. i tried with an hd video from youtube and picture is crisp! oh and most of all… i received the item 1 day early! now that deserves 5 stars in itself! item was packed in a padded envelope and it came in its own sealed thick baggie. im very satisfied with this purchase!

Worked perfectly for my setup. I use one monitor with two separate PCs, that go through a swiching connector. It allows me to use one keyboard, one mouse and one monitor. I double click the scroll key to switch between PCs. I replaced one PC with a newer one that has a video card with only an HDMI port. My switching controller is only setup for VGA. Thus, this Moread product solved my problem with no noticible loss of video quality with gaming that requires highspeed transfer of data. Five Stars all the way! Thanks!

Took a little bit for my gpu and monitor to sync up. Couldn’t get 75 hz to display properly, only 60hz. Not a big deal as this is for a server PC anyway. Works perfectly now at 60 hz.

Where’s the fault? Is the unit faulty, or the HDMI connection on the PC, or the VGA connection on the monitor?Other than buying another for testing, I just don’t know how many stars to give this thing.I bought a mini monitor and went HDMI to HDMI. An $80.00 work-around.

The brand new HP tower/machine, which is a beast of a machine, I bought did not come with a VGA output but two HDMI connections. In its won, the machine is a superior product, but this killed my ability to include the blazing new tower with my KVM set up This was forcing to have multiple keyboards while trying to derive a solution. I had to fall back this product. This allowed me to switch the HDMI back to VGA out of my machine and now the machine is included as part of my KVM configuration which allows me to share the mouse, keyboard, and USB speak between multiple machines. This made it work as I could not find a solution and to be candid, on a 23inch monitor, I can not tell the difference. Now the test twill be…. how long it lasts. If I have a problem within a year, I’ll come back and let everyone know.

At first, when I plugged this in to my Dell 7537, it would not detect it. I had to update the video drivers from Microsoft. The price was so low and it sounded so easy to hook up another monitor to my laptop when I bought this cable. I couldn’t get it to work and I thought it was just my luck to get a defective unit even though 5,000+ reviews were so positive. I was ready to return it but found a note in the bag that offered support.I emailed my issues to Moread tech support and got a response in a few minutes. Ada from Moread tech support asked a few details and responded immediately with detailed steps to change the resolution and, most importantly, the refresh rate to be compatible with the monitor I was connecting.I am totally happy with the quality and low price for this cable, but the support was the most impressive.

Great price and excellent quality. I was able to use this adapter to connect a new laptop with an older monitor for an extra work screen.

Working from home with just the work laptop wasn’t working well and I had an extra monitor, but it only had a vga plug and my laptop had an hdmi output. Bought this item, but upon connecting, I had an image, but a rectangle box was on the screen dancing around saying “input not supported”. Tried various different resolutions but no change. In the package was an email address if you are not happy with the purchase and sent in my issue. Literally, within 5 minutes I got a reply. Sent me over instructions on what could be the problem and a resolution. Tried what they said and presto, the box went away. The screen image also improved. What I needed to change was the refresh rate which is something I never would have known to do. Great value product and amazing customer service.

OMG! I was getting frustrated because I already had the VGA and I was trying to connect my second monitor. After 20 minutes, I calmed down and just started thinking of ways that I could connect. It’s funny because I purchased the HP Slim and what I was advised that I needed by the retail store and HP agents was not what I needed. I ended up buying other cables just in case this didn’t work, now I can return them and get my money back.

This product worked as advertised for my environment: old HP VGA monitor, attached to windows 10 Lenovo ThinkPad HDMI port. However, when I first set it up I got messages saying that the resolution had to be reduced. My first choice to try reducing the resolution was using the windows 10 display parameters but that made no change in the monitor seem to go dark and go to sleep with in a minute. My second choice was to use the Intel graphics adapter resolution parameter, and that worked. I operated the environment for four hours straight with no going to sleep on the monitor. The picture remained clear the whole time. I am very very happy and pleased with this device….two days later and I was able to work comfortably today using the adapter for the nine hour span with no display problems.

I have two external monitors that I use to plug my laptop in while working from home. I have a new laptop and it doesn’t have a lot of options for plugins so I needed adaptors so I could attach my external monitors. My work was able to provide one, but I needed to get another since I have two monitors. I ordered this one and the screen is blurry to the point where I thought I was not wearing my glasses when I tried to read a spreadsheet.I tried using a different cord, I tried using the same cord with the adaptor my work provided, and I tried using a different receiving plugin – and deduced that the problem was specifically with the adaptor (since the monitor looked fine when I used the adaptor from my work).Very disappointed as I need to actually be able to read what’s on my screen. Note – my screens aren’t very large or need special resolution – they’re your basic 1920 x 1080.

This is exactly what I needed to hook up my monitor to my laptop, and it’s fulfilling it’s purpose beautifully. Simple to install, long enough to have some flexibility but short enough that there’s no excess cord flopping around taking up space (since my other cord is plenty long and requires no additional length). If you’re looking for this kind of adapter, don’t think, just get it and start using it!

This connector is a very sturdy and high quality item…. for the price. For you Dreamcast hopefuls…. as I was…. this will not work for your Sega Dreamcast. The Dreamcast needs a far more potent interface and a quick search will show what you need at about three times the price. That worked great and that is another review.
Tony –
I didn’t notice at first and had to return. The images show that this is one-way and the HDMI end has to connect the source. I tried to use it the other way around to connect VGA output on my PC to a second monitor HDMI input but it didn’t work. My fault for not catching the distinction. I don’t have any monitors with VGA inputs, but I assume it works the way intended.

I have an old Dell monitor that I wanted to use to extend the screen on my laptop. Overall this works well. Sometime the screen goes black but it comes right back. I’m not sure what causes that, but it beats the cost of a new monitor.

I lowered the display setting on my laptop to regular HD to get my 1918wm Viewsonic to show up, but the same “out of range” is showing on the display. It means the the adaptor is “connecting”. But what use is a connection if the display does not work!

This little piece of technology is a must have for church plants. I really like how the bag it comes in is resealable so when you don’t need it, there is something you can put it in and it is clearly visible and marked on what it is exactly. I am using this to provide a second screen for the band singers to read off of a computer monitor on the floor while using a HDMI splitter to have the same thing showing behind them for the congregation. Using old computer monitors that people have laying around their house is a huge money saver and this piece is inexpensive so it fits into tight budgets. I have also used this on an old flat screen TV for the church to do the same thing when we didn’t have enough HDMI cables. This is a must have for sure!

I bought a new laptop last month. It has an HDMI connector, but no VGA connection. I have an older, but still very functional Dell 24-inch LCD monitor that I use as a 2nd screen. It only has a VGA connection. I thought I would have to buy a new monitor until I found this adapter. It connect the VGA cord from my 2nd monitor to my laptop and it works great. The picture quality is basically perfect. In fact, it is better than when I was connecting the VGA to my old laptop. I was getting a slight shadow effect that made reading small text a bit challenging. I couldn’t be more happy with this product. It saved me from having to buy a new monitor.
Edmund K. Parowski –
This adapter enables me to use my old school – at least by tech standards – VGA monitor with my newish laptop whose designers abandoned VGA and left me with only an HDMI port. Having two screens really does improve the ease of referring to multiple documents, programs, and websites and I was missing that until now. The cable is a good length that makes set-up easy but does not tangle and get in the way.
Arno –
The adapter cable works as advertised. Appears to be solid construction. Nothing more to be said.

I have the hardest time trying to get my new monitor computer unfortunately my computer didn’t have one of those BAGS areas so in my computer died I thought for sure there was no hope of ever getting a monitor to work for it I found this I knew I had to have it because one of the few things by computer does have his nephew my cord cable to it so I tried those things and I was little sketch about how this works or not Actually getting good results yet I haven’t lost signal or drop it once and I use my computer fairly often because I’m a college student taking a full course load of class so some nights I’m on the computer for up to 10 hours

I could not get this device working with the hdmi out port on my Macbook Pro. I believe this may have to do with the Macbook’s built in display outputting a native resolution greater than 1920 x 1080 (this device is said to support up to 1920 x 1080 resolution).I tried a couple of work-arounds to get it to work…1. I tried using display scaling in system preferences to scale down the resolution before plugging in the device. This didn’t work. After a bit of research I see that scaling down the resolution in the display settings does not actually change the resolution of the screen, it just increases the size of the text. You can tell this because your dock will not change sizes when using this display scaling.2. I tried hooking up a second monitor using a display port adapter, and then unchecked ‘mirror displays’ in the display settings. This allows each monitor to have its own independent desktop space and screen-resolution. I was hoping doing this first would allow me to hook up this vga/hdmi adapter to a 3rd monitor and have it output 1080p to that screen. However this did not work either.Notes: When you plug this adapter the built in retina screen flashes on and off as it is trying to recognize the monitor connected to the vga/hdmi adapter. For a brief moment you will see the Macbook actually detecting the monitor plugged into the adapter, but it will quickly disconnect and the recognized monitor will disappear from the display settings. I could never get it to stay connected and stop flashing the display on and off.The device does work on my Windows laptop (running Windows 10) without any issues. My Windows laptop’s built in display has a resolution of 1366×768 (or something like that) and this device works with this resolution when a second monitor is plugged in. As soon as the device is plugged in, it is detected and the external display works as expected.I am giving this a positive review because the device does work as described. I believe that the Macbook issue I had is because it is beyond the scope of what this device is said to do. The seller may want to add notes to the description saying that this will not work with Macbooks that have a native resolution higher than 1920 x 1080.As far as the build quality of this device, it is very nice. I would say it feels just as solid and sturdy as the official Apple brad display port adapters I have for VGA and DVI.

I just purchased a great new laptop/tablet with electronic pen combo for when I am on the go. However, I use my “computer” primarily at home and need a bigger screen. I needed an adapter. I was frustrated with the cable for which I needed the adapter and before the new laptop, thought it was just because the cable did not fit properly in the port. Well, now it does. It’s the cable. It’s definitely not my screen. Thanks for pointing it out. If you have the cable I need, I will purchase it from this company.

I hooked up my laptop to an external monitor and the monitor read INPUT NOT SUPPORTED. I emailed the support address supplied with the device at about 10:20 – PM!. By 10:40 PM I had a response, directing me to change the laptop resolution, which then made the laptop screen too small, but when I changed the setting to EXTEND THESE DISPLAYS from DUPLICATE THESE DISPLAYS – perfect. Works like a charm. Great support for a device I paid about $8 for!

This converter from HDMI to VGA adapter works great and it allows me to connect an older monitor to my laptop that doesn’t have an HDMI input. It is small enough so I can carry it when traveling just in case I am in a situation where I need it. It is plug and play so nothing to download. The computer recognized the monitor immediately without any issues.

Bkinsey –
Product used to hook up an older TV with PC Monitor capability to a newer laptop.HDMI end of product plugged into HDMI port on laptop > VGA cable from monitor plugged into VGA end of product. This allows for a duplicate of the laptop screen.HDMI (digital) is newer tech than VGA (analog) and therefore does not carry sound to the duplicate monitor. This means that your onboard laptop speakers will go silent. You can buy adapters with a converter for sound or…Use the 3.5mm aux/headphone jack hard-lined to a set of computer speakers or, in my case, if your laptop is Bluetooth capable, just pair a Bluetooth speaker and you then have your sound back.Would buy again if I needed to.
Rachel –
Although it is a work computer, so I don’t have all of the admin rights which could be the issue, I returned it because the additional monitor would not respond to this adapter.
Derek Sebastiao –
This is a great product. I loved the way i can connect my old VGA monitor to my laptop through HDMI but there is some problems in the item that you can fix. One problem i encountered is that when I plugged in the monitor to my laptop the resolution was not at the native resolution of the monitor, but all I did to fix this is change the resolution in the Windows display settings. The next problem I encountered is that it is not supported to 1080p TVs but that is what an HDMI cable is for. Overall great adapter it feels very sturdy in the hands and will handle what ever you throw at it.

I am trying to use this to connect my HDMI port to a vintage display. The display detects the input, but gives an “Out of Range” message, and the computer does not recognize the display. So it works, but the system components are not able to interact. Not the fault of the connector.Addendum: I used it to connect the same computer to my HDTV, and it works very well, indeed! By chance, I found an old converter near my TV, and that one works with the vintage display! So I am satisfied all around; customer service was sympathetic to my initial problem, too. Good price, good hardware, good service!

Ordered this for the application of hooking a HDMI DVD player into a VGA projector system.. which sounds uncomplicated, but the system has multiple projectors hooked into a 4-way switch box/amplifier that all runs on VGA. I had bought one of these cables before (different brand) and it didn’t work. I also had tried an RCA to VGA converter box which worked but the picture was awful. This new cable worked absolutely perfectly. It didn’t have a sound port so I just ran the RCA audio out to a sound mixer. Most reviews here had to do with hooking up computers to monitors and such so I thought I would add this one due to the different application I used the adapter for. So if someone needs it for a similar application, I hope this review helps. It worked great for me thus far.

I have used this for a few weeks on a second monitor that only has a VGA port that I needed to connect to a docking station. For my purposes, the adapter enabled me to use a legacy monitor rather than spending another $100-$200 for one with DP or HDMI input. I am not a gamer and I can use an older monitor for conferencing and internet work, so this did the trick.
B. Hanley –
I have a monitor that is connected to a video selector so that multiple inputs can be seen by manually switching between devices (computers). In updating from one computer server to another, it was necessary to have them both running at the same time. However, the input to the video selector is VGA and of the newer computer is HDMI. This is the perfect solution. Works great.

This adapter worked perfect for connecting my laptop to another, older monitor. The picture quality is great! I would recommend to all who are interested in this product. My lack of giving 5 stars is probably more to do with my laptop screen being less than a full screen now since I started using the adapter.
Juan c. –
It does the job. I use it for my second monitor. Running a high end pc and looks ok for the price. Didn’t want to spend an extra 500 to 800 dollars on a second monitor so bought a cheap one without HDMI and now it works. Just wish that it didn’t feel cheap, would have spent the extra bucks for it to feel better
Linflo –
It’s exactly what we expected. So far so good.

This HDMI-to-VGA Converter does exactly as it does with no issues. This converter was used to convert HDMI signals coming from a HDMI switch and convert into VGA for use with a Computer Monitor with an available D-Sub Port. The converter receives power through HDMI, so buyer beware, although not a reason to drop below 4 stars. Picture quality is as expected due to conversion from digital to analog with no perceivable issues.Overall recommended for HDMI-to-VGA Conversion.

I bought this to connect my large, desktop monitor to my HP Elitebook. The monitor is older, so it doesn’t have the kind of connection the HP Elitebook uses. This adapter is ideal and solves the problem. While the adapter is fairly short – about 9 inches (ca. 23 cm) – the existing cable (that came with my monitor) is more than long enough to make the connection work.I’m very pleased.

My wife’s work laptop does not have a VGA 15 port pin for use of an external monitor. But it does have a HDMI port so this allowed us to hook up the monitor to her laptop. Then I went into my laptop settings and was able to locate and now use the monitor plus her laptop screen.

Originally gave this a one star review and returned it but seems I was wrong…I couldn’t get the adaptor to display correctly on the VGA screen – desktop resolution was incorrect and so only part of the screen displayed. I returned it. However, same issue with a different cable. Right clicking on the desktop and selecting Display Resolution would allow the correct value to be selected but under Advanced Display Settings / Display Information this was different, wrong and couldn’t be corrected. However, right clicking on the desktop and selecting Intel Graphics Settings allowed the correct resolution to be set. I assume this would have worked with this adaptor too.Oddly another adaptor worked out of the box with no need to adjust the Graphics settings manually. I swapped them back and forth several times. Same result each time…better firmware?Connection at the HDMI end was a little dodgy….if you wiggled it much the display would go off. The connector was not as tight as others I’ve used but it did work. It losses 2 stars for this….but I wouldn’t have returned it for that.

Great price and product. Only complain was that the fastener on my VGA cable doesn’t screw on into the adapter. It worked when I connected it to another VGA slot. Otherwise, still works.
Oak Hill VA Shopper –
This is the one I needed, going from a new laptop with only and HDMI port to an older, but large and still quite new monitor using a VGI connection. Be warned that these cables are not bi-directional- they look the same with the same connectors but you have to be careful to get the right cable going in the right direction. My first buy went from VGA-to-HDMI rather than HDMI-to-VGA. Two identical looking adapters, but only the second one worked for me. Now that I have it, I am very happy with it.
Dave –
Got this to connect a Mac Mini to my KVM switch in the home lab rack. You don’t see any video until the Mac Mini is at the login screen. I also tried it on a 10700 a b460 integrated graphics and had the same thing where there was no signal until at the login screen. If connecting to a computer that is completely setup and you are just using to connect to an older monitor or KVM. If needing to setup a machine from scratch where the boot and setup screens are at a resolution that is outside the range this adapter can handle I would recommend looking for something else.

The item came in early and it appeared to be what was pictured. I ordered the wrong item because I didn’t look at one of the ends to notice that it would not fit into my laptop, so it was a user error. I needed the end that was like a USB. I still rated it 5 stars b/c again the product looked like it did on the website. I didn’t bother to return it because it probably would have cost me just as much to return it as the product itself.

I bought this since I have to have more than one screen for work and I do not have any port on my laptop for a VGA but do have an HDMI. I was hoping this would work so I would have two screens while working on my laptop from home. This product gives a lower quality and just did not work well. There was a constant roaming pop up saying that the device was not compatible. If you could get past that it somewhat serves it purpose. However it was not the right product for me.

I bought this for my neighbor (he’s in his 70s). He bought himself a new laptop with an HDMI port on it and his ancient monitor was VGA. He wanted to run the monitor with the laptop for a sort of double monitor setup (all he does is browse the web and play the stock market, but still). This was the solution for it. Worked like a charm on the first try. Plugged the monitor into the adapter and the adapter into the HDMI port on the laptop. Screen popped right on and after some configuration, has been working well ever since.Adapter seems well made. Time will tell in terms of long-term durability, but he’s not putting this thing in a backpack and hauling it across town everyday, so I think it’ll be fine.

This is the second HDMI-to-VGA adapter I purchased to use with a Raspberry Pi. The first one was an all-in-one unit with no pigtail. It did produce an image but the video quality was terrible. I decided to try again and bought one of these units. IT WORKS GREAT. In both text only and graphics modes the images are crisp and clear with good color. I’d buy another one of these if I ever needed it.

Works well, but it’s a bit expensive.

Fast shipping and worked exactly as expected. We had a power surge, and it fried my monitor connected to my home security cameras. I was able to connect an older monitor to my system using this cord. Now I don’t need to buy another monitor; this cord saved me $100.

Easy to use. This is exactly what I needed to add an additional monitor to my set up.

My wife works from home, her new corporate laptop has an HDMI rather than VGA connector, so couldn’t hook up to her existing VGA monitor, this adapter worked beautifully to resolve that issue! One tip, through Sounds, see which device on the laptop sound is going to, once the HDMI connection is made this will change to your monitor even if it doesn’t have speakers. Just change the default back to the original device, and you’ll still have sound.

My father is a teacher and he needed to connect his MacBook to a projector via VGA couldn’t find a multi port hub that supported a vga out and a gigabit internet port in but found a HDMI one and plugged this guy into the multi Port hub and then to the display it worked with no fuss. The funny thing is my dad grabbed a best buy name brand adaptor They look the same this one a bit more slimmer but that $34 wouldn’t work display kept just flashing and this one worked perfectly If you need this adapter get this one!!

This is mainly useful for providing backwards compatibility to old monitors to newer computers. You’re absolutely not going to get HDMI quality from this, nor should you expect to, but if you’re stuck with a monitor that only supports VGA, this is an acceptable stopgap until you have a reason to get a new monitor.
Jack Erwin –
VGA is an analog signal and HDMI is digital. That said the conversion is almost flawless. This is perfect for adding a second older monitor to a newer computer. I am delighted with the result.

Works great! One issue I seem to have is that my computer thinks my 2nd monitor is smaller than it is so the resolution isn’t perfect, but It’s better than trying to work on a small laptop screen! Overall I’d recommend this for the value and I’ve had no other issues

It works as expected, however my sound wont come on but I think that could be an issue with updating drivers. I had another situation where my monitor unexpectedly stopped working but I think that issue is stemming from my docking port. All of this to say, I’ve actually given up on my old monitor and purchased a new monitor so this adapter wont be needed anymore.

If you have a KVM Switch with a VGA output and you want to connect your laptop to work with your main monitor and keyboard, you can connect the VGA output to this device then connect the HDMI output to your laptop For keyboard and mouse functions you will also have to connect the other outputs from your KVM such a USB cable(s)

This worked like a charm and quick shipping got me out of tight spot.

This connector is exactly as promised. It is very fairly priced and comes in a handy container. It’s an excellent quality connector and does the job perfectly. The screen and picture quality ratings apply to the picture I see and the completeness of the screen using the connector. It does both quite handily – no loss of picture quality and it displays all pixels. I couldn’t ask for more.

My new computer sis not have a VGA port. I purchased this adapter and have had no issues. I will probably have to get a new monitor if I want high resolution options though.

Used this to connect my old VGA style monitor to my HDMI out on my laptop. Once I figured out that I had to adjust the resolution in Windows for the VGA monitor, it worked swimmingly. My IT guys at work said it wasn’t possible, however, this connector did the trick. Highly recommended!

It does the job I bought it for (converting hdmi to vga to fit my old vga monitor). Works without issue

Works good. Have no complaints.

This item works well. It allowed me to attach a larger free standing flat screen computer monitor to my laptop. Having a larger monitor allows me a second display screen and a larger screen for me to be able to read more clearly without my glasses.

People would ask why would you need this? because sometimes not all PC’s are created equal some have VGA i/o and some have display port or hdmi and or dvi a good tool to have.
Mark Dewitt –
Flexable and sturdy. Does what its supposed to. Cheaper than a new monitor.

I got this to use an old PS2/VGA KVM switch with my IOT computers. Image quality is great. This model doesn’t have audio. This is a feature for me as I use the 3.5mm audio output and external speakers and don’t want HDMI audio complicating things. They have a slightly more expensive model with audio if you want it — plug speakers into the jack on the adapter and the HDMI audio plays there.

Goal was to take old HP laptop with broken screen and hook it up to a fairly new Sony monitor. There are no directions so I assumed you just plugged it in and off you go; not the case. The second screen was black with a little box in the middle with some mumbo jumbo text and numbers that mean nothing to me. I emailed their imaginary customer support and got nothing; which still after several days now I still haven’t gotten a response. After an hour or so of screwing with it I gave up and sent in a request to return it. A few hours later, once my pulse rate went back down, I tried one more time. First I found it didn’t work when the laptop was set on “duplicate” screen, it only worked on “expand” screen. Then in the product description they tell you how it works on all these different resolutions; not the case. I found that you just have go down the list of screen resolutions on your computer until you find one that works. Once I figured all that out on my own it worked fine. Interestingly enough, the next day when I turned on the computer, the settings had changed from “expand” to “duplicate” screen and was working fine.

This product does it’s job only it the device it’s plugged into has enough power to the hdmi port to keep it running properly.

Works as expected, holding up well as I drag my compact laptop to different company sites. Since it’s compact, there aren’t any on-site docking stations that fit. This adapter saves the day. Definitely a good value.

Worked right out the box to connect my SBC to an older CRT monitor. No noticeable issues with the picture and handled 4:3 resolutions just fine.

Works perfectly, looks nice and definitely a bargain. The cord is small as seen on the pictures, but that was to be expected and it was the perfect length for what I needed. Delivery was fast.

There are many times when stuck in a hotel room – and I’m not pleased with the channel selections – I like to stream out of area news and entertainment) onto my laptop. It’s even NICER when I can use my trusty HDMI cable. However, many of the TVs in these hotel rooms are not quite THAT advanced. But some have a VGA connector. In that case, the HDMI to VGA connector comes in handy and let’s me connect the TV VGA to my Laptop HDMI port.

Got it real quick in just a day. Hooked to laptop and external monitor and works perfect without any issues.

I have currently been using this for 1 week. I will update later to comment on its longevity. (If you see no review update, then you may safely assume it has not had any problems.) The adapter is exactly as pictured and described. Converts HDMI signal from your computer into (up to FHD) VGA. That’s really all there is to it. I have experienced no issues with functionality and am currently using it on a 2018 laptop and a old LCD monitor. It does not carry the audio signal of HDMI, and this aspect is indicated clearly both in the product description as well as in a swiftly arriving follow-up email from the seller (which also reaffirms that it is HDMI–>VGA and not vice versa). Just to make sure you’ve got it. The email indicated they’d be willing to rectify the situation if you somehow missed these warnings, bought it anyways, and then discovered you wanted audio and/or to convert VGA to HDMI. I’m not in the situation to test their offer, but it was nice to see.

I just plugged the adapter into the end of the monitor VGA line and plugged the HDMI end into my laptop. Nothing to install.

I bought this so I could connect my new laptop to my external monitor since it seems like the newer laptops have done away with the VGA monitor port on the side and only have HDMI connectors. It’s working great and has already referred a few people from work who were wanting to hook up an external monitor without having to buy a docking station and they are all happy with the choice as this adapter is a lot cheaper than most docking stations.

It was a little tricky because the monitor I was adding to my laptop wouldn’t display anything. After about an hour of messing with the settings I was able to figure it out and get it to work. This cable works great!

Have a new computer with HDMI video output and still have a perfectly good VGA input monitor? This is the perfect, cost-effective solution to extend the life of an older monitor!

I bought this to use my ThinkPad with a really old projector that works very well. This adapter worked perfectly for a few months! The quality of the image is great and the adapter feels very high quality. Unfortunately, the first adapter I got broke after a few months, causing my laptop to randomly lose connection to the adapter. I believe this is my fault, however, because I accidentally fell asleep with my laptop open and put a lot of pressure on the adapter. So I am not going to fault the company for this, definitely my fault. The second one is working great!

During the time of covid-19 working for home I really wanted a second monitor and the only other monitor I have is a really old hp, this was the only seller that would get this adapter here early enough and I am so glad I purchased it. The price is nice, the quality is good and best of all IT WORKS!!! I bought a cheap one off eBay and it did not work and they wouldn’t accept my return so I gave it another try and hallelujah!!! It worked. So I have no complaints. I am happy with my two monitors now. Hope this helps anyone 🙂

I have an older Dell i5 7000 gamming laptop. No VGA port, only hdmi. I got an old Dell monitor at an estate sale with no hdmi, only VGA and another type. Saw this adapter and ordered cause it was less than $10. Figured I would not lose much if it did not work. It worked perfect. Clear picture, no issues. Definitely got my money’s worth to the good.
