Will run virtually all games and programs on the highest setting, but will not be able to record/stream some programs. If you plan to record or stream i reccomend researching a better processor. otherwise, an incredible processor for its price.

Amazed by the performance here for the price. I installed this in a small HTPC with the intent of using it just to stream TV shows and movies on a 1080P projector. The onboard IGP was adequate for 1080P streaming and playback and overall made for an excellent sub-$200 HTPC Threw in a GTX 950 and now I’ve got a quite capable budget gaming PC that seems to have no problems playing most newer games in 1080P smoothly. Just don’t expect miracles though as some CPU intensive games will start to stutter liker BF4 multiplayer with higher player counts or MMORPG’s but that is to be expected.

マザーボードにもよると思いますが、回転数制御のあるものを組み合わせれば静音になりました。いままでリテールクーラー＝うるさいというイメージがあったのですが、回転数と温度管理をしっかりすればリテールクーラーでも十分静かなファンで運用できることがわかりました。

People see Pentium now a days and think if it isn’t an i3, 5 or 7 it must be junk.I’ve built dozens of PC’s with these Intel Pentium-series CPU’s based on Haswell/Devils Canyon and I gotta say I’m always impressed with how cool, efficient and snappy every system is. Don’t underestimate these CPU’s if you’re on a budget. They sip power from the wall and are excellent dual-core work horses.

I used this CPU for a computer for my Dad. He didn’t need too much power just for a few simple games and some web browsing. However, I’m blown away just how decent this CPU is for the price. I’ve used this processor on a few machines and honestly if you are not doing a lot of multitasking it is fast and solid. With only two cores and no hyperthreading it is a bit slow for those that have many programs open at once. However, for those of us that like to use only a couple programs at a time no problem so why waste the money.Great value processor

Budget processor. Reasonably fast and is more than capable of handling day to day tasks for normal computer users. If you aren’t a gamer or 3D designer or whatever, this is about right for you. Even for mid-range games, it can hold its own.

For the price, this beats i3 and i5 hands down. For performance it matches the i3 and i5.
Registers as two cores in Win 8.1, but it has done a fantastic job of handling everything I’ve thrown at it.I play mostly Blizzard games, Origin games, Steam games. Also my kids love Minecraft, and Disney Infinity on it.Since we use it primarily to game, we only have one application open at a time. For a Gaming machine on a budget, this processor is fantastic.You could pay a lot more for an i3, i5, or i7, and honestly I don’t think you’d actually ever be able to tell the difference unless you are trying to peg it. I currently have 2x i5 (4 cores) gaming machines and 1x i7 (8 cores). This plays games as well as either i5, and almost as well as the i7.For the price, this can’t be beat.

Great beater CPU for the buck
Bought this Dell PC at Best Buy YEARS ago as a ‘manager special dump it out the door’ for $200. It was a ‘Scratch and Dent’ kind of a deal. No box, no support, no software CD’s (but the software was already loaded to the the PC) everything else was pretty much included. Out the door It came with 8GB’s of RAM and a 2TB hard drive along with Windows 7 Pro. I later upgraded it to Windows 10 and to this day it’s out lasted a few other PC’s with supposedly superior CPU’s. I’d never heard of the G3240 but I can tell you from experience it’s a workhorse.For a backup PC it’s been a lifesaver even at 3.10GHz…….It still runs like a 4.00 GHz chip.

I used this in a new pfsense box to replace our outdated router hardware. While I recognize it may border on overkill, the performance is top-notch and the install and subsequent boots are lightning fast.

Works fine in my server
Haven’t really run any intense tests on it and probably wont. It is being used in an Ubuntu server so it is probably even a little overkill. I don’t expect to run into any issues in the near future with it not being powerful enough for simple file serving and media sharing.

Proven concept, refreshed
While this isn’t a break through compared to other models in the LGA 1150 Pentium line, it is slightly more efficient, which leads to more performance and less heat. I bought it basically because of the cheap price while I wait for a deal on a i7-4790 or anything better. It’s reasonable to expect a 5-10% gain in performance over previous models, so it doesn’t really warrant an upgrade from inferior models, but, if your building an HTPC, or other low cost system, even with some slight gaming in mind, there isn’t any reason why this wouldn’t fit the build. All in all, Pentium’s are the CPU you would recommend to friends, while i3 are what you would want for your self, in most cases. Either you specifically need a particular Intel iX, and are not considering this, or if your considering a low end iX, you would in most cases be buying anything other than a Pentium more for your satisfaction than anything else. Once we get into performance CPU’s, it’s a whole differen case, of course.Moving on, while the integrated graphics are quite mediocre, for anything besides playing games it is more than suffice (HD movie viewing, etc).All in all, I’m happy with it, but of course, I’ll be happier the day I find a cheap top of the line i7.

Love that this is such a silly little processor. I have this in s slim factor htpc case with 1 80mm intake fan and one 240mm sound fan on the CPU cooler. Good combination of low power consumption and good dual core performance.

Decent gaming PC for Overwatch
I got this as a super low budget part for a gaming PC. We set up a little “LAN” at work and I didn’t want to drop a lot on upgrading the PCs. I paired this with a 150 MSI card, and another with a 560ti from a few years ago. Overall they both do the job of running Overwatch at solid framerates. Not earth shattering but playable. I didn’t try any other games but Overwatch is relatively new so I’m guessing it would be OK with older games within the last year or so. If you are building a gaming PC that’s for yourself or something you’ll do any real moderate gaming where you have a little more money to play with, I would suggest just getting an i3 or an i5 for a 100 bucks more. Though if you’re looking for a super-low budget PC that you’re putting together from spare parts then this should do ok.

and you have a very snappy system for a great price.
Outstanding value processor that is extremely energy efficient and produces little heat or noise. For general office and web duties, this performs perfectly well. Very heavy multitaskers or gamers who play AAA-level titles such as COD/Battlefield/etc might want to look at quad-core models or at least i3-level processors, though light gaming is no problem here. Pair this up with an affordable SSD, and you have a very snappy system for a great price.

Low power draw, high performance per watt.
Love that this is such a silly little processor. I have this in s slim factor htpc case with 1 80mm intake fan and one 240mm sound fan on the CPU cooler. Good combination of low power consumption and good dual core performance.

Outstanding value processor that is extremely energy efficient and produces little heat or noise. For general office and web duties, this performs perfectly well. Very heavy multitaskers or gamers who play AAA-level titles such as COD/Battlefield/etc might want to look at quad-core models or at least i3-level processors, though light gaming is no problem here. Pair this up with an affordable SSD, and you have a very snappy system for a great price.

Super low power consumption, runs cool, great for a home media server. I use this cpu with a Gigabyte LGA 1150 Intel Z97N motherboard and 8 gigs of RAM. Its perfect for streaming video and data backup.
