I just upgraded my system for a a core 2 duo 2.6 to a I3 3.4 wow what a difference. I went from a 5.4 to a 7.4 in the windows benchmark. I will eventually go to a quad but did not have the money what with all the other parts I needed to buy. This is a great CPU for a $130.

At first I was a bit skeptical about buying an i3 because I thought it would be weak and the specs were over-exaggerated. After 1 month or so of owning this CPU I can say for a fact I load into “League of Legends” faster than my old Ivy Bridge i5 (3550). I also received this cpu in a timely fashion. I highly recommend this CPU to anyone out there. I also recommend for a mother board the “ASUS USB 3.0 DDR3 2200 Intel LGA 1155 Motherboards B75M-A”.

自作初心者として既存のメーカー製PCのCPU換装用に購入したが、ソケットだけ合っていて換装できなかったので再度、動作させるため、マザーボード他を購入または中古品を集めて、既存の筐体、電源などを流用して作り上げた。少し、添付のFANが音が大きいが、機能的には多くのアプリを入れていないことや使ったMBの機能としてクイック起動があって、立ち上がりは20秒で動くPCができました。家庭用に使うなら、現役で可能でしょう。

I bought this processor for a budget build and it’s performing beautifully. I love Intel’s i-series processors. My gaming PC has an i7-3770 and it’s amazing, but I paid quite a bit for it. This i3 processor while certainly not as powerful costs 60% less and is still quite fast. It has enough power for most people anyway. Unless you’re getting into really heavy gaming or very demanding multitasking, this CPU will easily handle everything you throw at it. It may only be a dual-core processor but with Intel’s hyper-threading it will still multitask basic applications well. As for the integrated graphics (HD 2500) they are actually pretty good. Certainly not designed for gamers (if you want to play modern graphic intensive games you HAVE to buy a decent video card) the integrated graphics still work well for most applications and even older games. Skyrim probably would look pretty bad but from what I’ve seen and tested I think Oblivion would look OK. More than enough for any office or media PC, and if nothing else, it’s nice to know if your video card dies, your integrated graphics are still good enough that you can comfortably use your computer for everyday tasks up to casual gaming.

WIN10 32bit ssd使用 セレロンG550から換装 キビキビ動く様になりました。用途はネットブラウジング youtube観賞 DVD作成etc セレロンでも極端な不満はありませんでしたが、メモリーも1333で作動するようになり、体感的には嬉しいレスポンスアップです。更にTDPも55WとセレロンG550を下回ります。私の様なライトユーザーには全然 現役使用OKと思われます。僅か¥1800程で入手出来るのは嬉しい限りです。

No pins, no fuss…I installed it in to the motherboard, added memory, put it in the box and it worked right the first time. And has been working great ever since. Not as fast as my i7 of course, but seems to handle most things well. I haven’t been running it long, but no complaints so far. I would use it again in other computers.

Really quite powerful for the price. Sure the 4th generation is out now but that makes these just a bit cheaper. Graphics were greatly improved on the 4th generation so if you care about that type of thing go with those. For me this was just a dedicated always on PC that does downloading and video transcoding. I also set this up to be a small Minecraft server and it does those 3 tasks very well.

中古のZ77H2-A3を手に入れたので、このCPUで組んでみました。メモリは8GB、SSD有り、グラボはGTX550Ti、OSはwin7 64bitです。エクスペリエンスのプロセッサーのスコア比較i5 4670k OC無しで7.7 OC有りで8.2i7 4770k OC有りで8.5このCPUはOC無しで7.2でした感想ですこのPCは嫁用として組みましたゲームはやっていませんネット、YouTubeの動画再生が主な用途ですが、上記の用途だけならi5.i7と比較しても全く遜色ありませんでしたデータの転送は若干落ちるかな？と感じましたが、以前使っていたcore2 duo E8400に比べたら、体感的にですが倍くらい速いように感じました私が購入した時は13500円くらいでしたが、i5.i7と比較すると2倍3倍近く値段差があるので、3Dゲームをしないのであれば、浮いた分をSSDなどに回した方が快適なPCが作れると思いますあくまで私の感覚にもとづいた感想なので、ご参考までにと思います

I bought 5 of these for new workstations at work. These were just normal machines, users don’t do anything special, so a lot of power was not required (no gaming, video editing, or anything else that required a lot of processing power).I am happy with this processor. this CPU was an easy drop in, upgrade replacement and improvement, from a 2nd generation Pentium G2020 – on a basic 660S Dell desktop- it added hyper- threading, and a speed boost, while moving to a 3rd generation processor.

What can I say? 3rd generation Intel Ivy Bridge technology and Intel HD 2500 graphics. Not a gaming machine, but with a decent add-on graphics board you could, I suppose. This is dual core at 3.4ghz, with hyperthreading for 4 virtual cores. Sure you can pay more, but do you really need to?I’ve built two computers in the past year based on this processor. Teamed up with the ASUS H61-M/A-USB3 motherboard, this is a bang for the buck machine.I’m running Ubuntu Linux 64-bit host, 8 gb ram with Virtualbox on one. Can run multiple VMs at the same time.The other PC is running Windows 7 32-bit with 4 gb ram (3.46 gb usable). It chews through Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom in a flash. Also runs multiple virtual synthesizer plugins with Cakewalk Sonar and never hits max CPU.The only thing maybe slowing this CPU down is the SATA hard drive. May need a SSD drive soon!

I used this processor to upgrade the Windows Home Server 2011 machine I built earlier this year. Moving from 720p video downloads to 1080p, I noticed the Pentium G860 was getting hit pretty hard when transcoding the ones that weren’t in a format I could directly play on my devices. Since I plan to start ripping Blu-Ray discs on my home server, I figured I better upgrade the processor.I am very happy with the Core i3-3240. So much so, that I am going to add some new roles to my home server to make use of the added processing power. If you have an LGA 1155 system that has a Pentium or Celeron processor, you should upgrade with this processor right now. You’ll be glad you did!You don’t need to spend much to get more than adequate performance anymore. This little Ivy Bridge Core i3 packs some real performance for not much coin, and is a great buy.

セレロンから乗り換え。同時にメモリーも８GBから16GBにアップしましたが、変化を感じたいので同時に装着せずに、時間差で装着。メモリー交換を先にしたのですが、その時点で速さを体感。CPU交換じゃ体感できないかな？と思いましたが、更にスピードアップ。安定性も出た感じです。PCをDTMで使ってますが、スペックギリギリで作業してたのが、余裕が出来ててフリーズも解決。作業中のネットでの調べ事もサクサクで快適になりました。

This processor is great for everyday tasks such as email, internet, Microsoft office, YouTube, etc. Not sure about how it would perform for gaming as I did not buy it for that purpose. Would definitely recommend if building a budget friendly PC.

Ich suchte eine möglichst energiesparende, aber doch leistungsfähige CPU für ein NAS unter Openmediavault. Die CPU erfüllt meine Erwartungen, allerdings stimmt die Artikelüberschrift nicht. Es wird keine CPU inkl. Lüfter geliefert, sondern lediglich die Tray-Variante.

Sono rimasto esterrefatto. Ho sempre snobbato i processori i3 poiché pensavo che fossero la “fascia fuffa” (un po’ come erano i Celeron rispetto ai Pentium nei primi anni 2000), poi assemblando un PC a basso costo con Windows 8.1 per la famiglia ho cercato in internet processori interessanti senza costi esorbitanti. Tom’s Hardware ha suggerito questo nella fascia 100-150 euro.È un processore con socket 1155 (assicuratevi di prendere motherboard compatibili!) con architettura Ivy Bridge, non l’ultima uscita ma abbastanza recente (settembre 2012). Il costo e consumo sono contenuti, ma come prestazioni è ottimo per il 90% degli impieghi (a meno che non siate hardcore gamer o abbiate necessità professionali particolari)PRO:- Versione “boxata”, ovvero nella confezione troverete sia il processore che ventola+dissipatore (già con la pasta termica spalmata) da metterci sopra- 55 watt di consumo (molto basso)- Performante, frequenza a 3.4 GHz (molto alta, specie se guardiamo i consumi)- Dual core con hyper threading: 2 core fisici, 2 logici, prestazioni migliori rispetto a un dual core “liscio”- Grafica integrata ideale per uso da ufficio e giochini poco esosi di risorse- Qualità/prezzo ottimaCONTRO:- La ventola in dotazione a pieno regime è un po’ rumorosa (controllate che nel BIOS la velocità della CPU sia impostata in modalità automatica, non in max speed)

My main reason why I ordered this was to complete my system build (almost done just to get external components and software) I tested it out with my PSU and all the internal components in my build are working fine. I double checked the proper seating of the CPU, This is critical people! and always employ ESD Measures. Cant wait to finish this project. The shipping was great and a little early than due date but I’m okay with that. It makes things a lot better. 3 year warranty (I rarely get Defective computer components) so that’s a huge plus for Intel products. I would recommend this product for a person who wants to build a PC or have a spare.

I am no PC expert so cannot offer a technical review of this CPU.From a user perspective I can say that this CPU was bought to replace a dual core model running at 2.8Ghz and the difference in performance is considerable when compared to this. I have always tended to purchase AMD because as a Linux user there have traditionally been fewer compatibility issues with AMD. However I have to say that the Core i3 chip has changed my opinion as it is 100% compatible with the two Linux distributions I use.I can thoroughly recommend this CPU.

This thing is rocking in my wife’s Hackintosh on a H77M-D3H motherboard. Can’t use the onboard graphics with OS X without a lot of fiddling so I just disabled the on-board graphics and used a GTX 650. She wanted to play The Sims and that provided a nice boost in performance anyway. Since I wasn’t using the onboard video why pay extra for a 3245?

This was my 1st personal pc build, with a limited budget. I matched it with an asus z77 board, 60 gb ssd, 8 gb corsair vengeance, and an asus r9 270x. This set-up handles everything I’ve thrown at it. Asus UEFI Bios was able to automatically tune the chip to 3.5 ghz.

I know it’s only an i3, but as far as i3’s go, this is the one to buy if you are going to go in that direction. First off, I compared processors on Passmark before purchasing this. This one had bench marks comparative with the i5s (not quite as good, but close). I think the Windows 7 rating for this is like a 7.2. My i5 2500k is a 7.5 Windows 7 Rating. I used this as a cheap replacement for an Zambezi 8-core processor and board which overheated and died tragically. Believe it or not, this processor does pretty much everything that the Zambezi did. Of course Zambezi’s were not that good and were quickly replace by Vishera due to there slow speeds and overheating tenancies. Note, if you have an eight core Zambezi, I would definitely place a liquid cooler on it.You looked here for a review for an i3 and you got an AMD tutorial (LOL!). Yeah, I am satisfied with the i3 even though I’d rather have an i7, i5, or Vishera. It’s a very good processor for the price!

this CPU was an easy drop in, upgrade replacement and improvement, from a 2nd generation Pentium G2020 – on a basic 660S Dell desktop- it added hyper- threading, and a speed boost, while moving to a 3rd generation processor.

I bought this along with the ASUS P8Z77-V motherboard to replace my Asus P5Q3 Deluxe motherboard. I primarily use my computer for music production and video editing. I have noticed significant improvement in everything I’m doing and I’m still using 4GB of RAM. I’m glad I followed many reviews from people that said despite i5 and i7 processors will give you the best in performance, this i3 processor does more than enough for less money.

中古のZ77H2-A3を手に入れたので、このCPUで組んでみました。メモリは8GB、SSD有り、グラボはGTX550Ti、OSはwin7 64bitです。エクスペリエンスのプロセッサーのスコア比較i5 4670k OC無しで7.7 OC有りで8.2i7 4770k OC有りで8.5このCPUはOC無しで7.2でした感想ですこのPCは嫁用として組みましたゲームはやっていませんネット、YouTubeの動画再生が主な用途ですが、上記の用途だけならi5.i7と比較しても全く遜色ありませんでしたデータの転送は若干落ちるかな？と感じましたが、以前使っていたcore2 duo E8400に比べたら、体感的にですが倍くらい速いように感じました私が購入した時は13500円くらいでしたが、i5.i7と比較すると2倍3倍近く値段差があるので、3Dゲームをしないのであれば、浮いた分をSSDなどに回した方が快適なPCが作れると思いますあくまで私の感覚にもとづいた感想なので、ご参考までにと思います

I installed it in my homemade Windows Media Center unit. I wanted something that was fast enough to handle the demands of Media Center, but also cool enough that it didn’t require a noisy fan. This unit fits the bill. It is installed in a Barebones box next to the TV and we never hear the fan. The video quality is excellent. We don’t use the processor for much besides watching video, so I can’t comment on other aspects of the i3.The unit comes with an Intel-supplied fan, but I didn’t use it (I preferred the Barebones fan, which is quieter). Installation of the chip was straightforward (spreading the goop over the top of the chip for the fan contact is the trickiest part–but it went smoothly).

Used this to build a budget rig for a friend and it worked as it should have. When is Intel going to change the CPU fan design? Absolutely hate that part of the build. If they go on right the first time, they work, if not, they can be the biggest pita ever. Love prime, good price point, hate pinning on CPU fan. Would and will buy again.

This was a wonderful CPU for my first build. It works amazingly, and paired with my GTX 660Ti things are just wonderful. Unfortunately I have to say goodbye to this CPU, as I am upgrading to an i5 quad core to better support Grand Theft Auto Five. Skyrim and such run perfectly at 60fps on max settings, Grand Theft Auto will crash quite often with this CPU. With Garry’s Mod I will get 500fps all day long, as will Killing Floor. All in all, I think it is wonderful for any first time builder or a light to medium gamer.

At first I was a bit skeptical about buying an i3 because I thought it would be weak and the specs were over-exaggerated. After 1 month or so of owning this CPU I can say for a fact I load into “League of Legends” faster than my old Ivy Bridge i5 (3550). I also received this cpu in a timely fashion. I highly recommend this CPU to anyone out there. I also recommend for a mother board the “ASUS USB 3.0 DDR3 2200 Intel LGA 1155 Motherboards B75M-A”.

セレロンから乗り換え。同時にメモリーも８GBから16GBにアップしましたが、変化を感じたいので同時に装着せずに、時間差で装着。メモリー交換を先にしたのですが、その時点で速さを体感。CPU交換じゃ体感できないかな？と思いましたが、更にスピードアップ。安定性も出た感じです。PCをDTMで使ってますが、スペックギリギリで作業してたのが、余裕が出来ててフリーズも解決。作業中のネットでの調べ事もサクサクで快適になりました。

I am no PC expert so cannot offer a technical review of this CPU.From a user perspective I can say that this CPU was bought to replace a dual core model running at 2.8Ghz and the difference in performance is considerable when compared to this. I have always tended to purchase AMD because as a Linux user there have traditionally been fewer compatibility issues with AMD. However I have to say that the Core i3 chip has changed my opinion as it is 100% compatible with the two Linux distributions I use.I can thoroughly recommend this CPU.

I used this in my SFF form factor gaming rig alongside a GTX 660 to save a little money, and I am glad I did. From what I saved vs going to the i5, I was able to put the money into a better graphics card. This processor has been rock solid since I installed it. It isn’t the fastest CPU by any means, but for the price it exceeds my expectations. I have never felt as though it was acting as a bottleneck and even when maxed out it never feels sluggish. The included cooler is more than adequate, and the processor runs very cool even under heavy load. I may at some point upgrade to an i5 if the prices come down on the Ivy Bridge line, but overall i am very impressed with the performance of this supposedly lower-end processor. It is slightly more expensive than some of AMD’s offerings however the low temperature and rock solid stability are worth the premium.

I use to be all about the numbers and tell people ‘Get the Intel i7 or i5, i3 is weak.’ Now that I built my first PC, I realize it’s not all about numbers. I’m also not a real in-depth guy who can tell you everything about this processor but I know it’s fast and cheap lol. I’m using a Samsung EVO 840 120GB SSD and my computer is just fast. I also have 8GB of RAM to boast. Max RAM on this is 32GB so be careful for those trying to put a 64GB RAM in here. Also make sure how much RAM your MOBO can hold cause mine can only hold 16GB RAM. Depending on what you do and if you can afford a better chip, do it. I feel Intel does a great job of marketing their chips to make it look as if the i3 is not what you want and you should at least get a i5 for your computer to be good. I think this processor is just as fast and reliable as the others when you perform 2 task. Anymore then obviously the i5 and i7 will smoke this. Don’t let me persuade you, try it yourself.

This was my 1st personal pc build, with a limited budget. I matched it with an asus z77 board, 60 gb ssd, 8 gb corsair vengeance, and an asus r9 270x. This set-up handles everything I’ve thrown at it. Asus UEFI Bios was able to automatically tune the chip to 3.5 ghz.

I just upgraded from a Sandy Bridge Pentium G840 to this Ivy Bridge i3-3240. It’s a nice CPU for the money. Considering I changed the CPU and GPU at the same time I was expecting to have to re-activate a lot of software and the OS. So far, nothing has complained.The mainboard is an Asus P8H61-M LE/USB3 with BIOS version 4601. The swap was reasonably painless although I had to reset CMOS as I anticipated. Make sure to jot down any specific settings you use in BIOS for devices other than the RAM and CPU if you do this.I changed the Kingston HyperX RAM timing to 1600 from 1333 which the board defaults to in support of Intel H61 specifications. No issues though, all is working fine at the higher speeds the RAM is meant for. It was limited to the lower speed by the old processor.

This thing is rocking in my wife’s Hackintosh on a H77M-D3H motherboard. Can’t use the onboard graphics with OS X without a lot of fiddling so I just disabled the on-board graphics and used a GTX 650. She wanted to play The Sims and that provided a nice boost in performance anyway. Since I wasn’t using the onboard video why pay extra for a 3245?

Fujitsuの某ミニパソコンを中古で買ってメモリを増やしたりSSDに換装したりしたのですが、それでもかなりもっさりした動きでした。そこでバラしてCPUをcorei3-3240に変えてみたところ体感的には随分と良くなりました。ベンチマークとか測ったわけではありませんが、サブパソコンとして使う上でストレスは感じなくなりました。

For the longest time I only looked at i5’s and i7’s, a friend told me to check out this bad boy and i’m glad I did. This little CPU is amazing. Runs everything I can through at it. Granted I don’t do a lot multitasking as of right now, but it handles my games and needs with no problem at all. Installed was quick and easy. Great budget CPU if you are looking for one, you won’t be dissappointed with this CPU!

There are much faster, pricier processors on the market, but this one can handle most anything you throw at it… I’m not a gamer, so I don’t have any real need for an expensive processor, and most of the PC’s I build are for companies that also do not need a power house of a pc. That in mind, These i3’s are great for cheap custom builds with great room for expansion and upgrades in the future.More power than most consumers are going to need, and a good cheap alternative to the i5 and i7 for those that can get by with a little less processing power and speed.Pair with 4 sticks of some decent ram (1600) on a $80-$150 Asus board and you’ve got a good build started….
